Ping Blueprint Forged S

Those numbers seem kinda juiced , not sure why. Think sometimes foresight algo also doesn’t decrease distance on high spin shots as much as it should. Those numbers on FS trajectory optimizer(112 BS 19 launch 7500 spin) fly 148.5 yards and think in reality that’s going to be a pretty spinny trajectory that shouldn’t have any problem stopping.

They’re not going to have the land angle of a pga tour pro with 112 7i ball speed. 45 is fine. They’re launching it at near 20 and spinning it 7500.

I was referring to his first slide.
He needs to reduce his AOA and spin.

Even in the second screenshot scenario, the spin is going to be over 8K outside and his launch and land angle will go down on grass vs mats.

Lots of mats do decrease spin and increase launch but not all of them do. I wouldn’t assume that and even if that it is true, it doesn’t mean his land angle is going to get substantially worse.

So he needs to be launching his 7 iron at 21 and spinning it 7500? Or not sure what the goal is here. They have near lpga tour speed with near lpga tour descent angle. I’m not even sure those foresight descent angle numbers are correct , as someone that owns a gc3. A 19 launch 7500 spin 7 iron is going to be super super spinny, likely spinning back if anything at that speed. Think the other numbers are fine. Ya they have a pretty negative AoA , they’re gonna launch it low and spin it a bit. It works

the better question is what is your goal here?

I would not go power spec.  These are pretty strongly lofted to start and should blend fine with a 50 gap wedge.  Still not too high, launch angle is good.  Slight low impact on that second shot brought the spin up a bit.  I assume U would be pretty close to ideal 7K or so on a center strike, non hook.  Looks very playable to me, in particular if you had good front to back dispersion on your session.

Get back to us after range session

They're extremely soft. I also got them 1 weak to gap a bit better and match up closely to my J33 CBs. They also seem to be a tad more forgiving, and are very consistent.

For a while I've been looking to get a new set of irons that really fit my eye and performed well. I'm a huge iron ho and typically like older stuff (mid 2000s and earlier) with less round profiles but a lot of them have non conforming grooves, which kinda does matter when I play in PGA section events lol. I tried these out at a Ping demo day and freaking loved them. I'm also a free agent but have always been a Ping fan, and our rep is awesome and hooked me up with a set. These are going right into the bag!

I am not sure why nearly everyone does not play Crossline Cords.  Perfect blend of firmness, grip when sweating, and outstanding durability compared to almost any GP product.

I don't understand why everyone doesn't play leather grips.  Various models covering an array of firmness options, they're amazing in damp/wet conditions, and they last a *very* long time.  Expensive at first, yes, but when my $25 grips lasts for several seasons, they turn out more cost effective in the long run.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.  LOL

Just got my BPS’s in yesterday, will have a grass range session today.  Was a long time S55 player, more recently TCB.  I have dabbled with i59’s the last couple months and I am happy with those, other than the sound.  If the range session goes well, the i59’s will be on BST tonight, if not the BPS will be on BST.

A couple size comparisons for those concerned.  4i, 7i, PW side by side with the i59’s and the 4i next to my old 1 iron from back in the day when I was half decent.  BPS is to the left.

IMG_2279.jpeg

IMG_2280.jpeg

IMG_2281.jpeg

IMG_2282.jpeg

Range session complete.  They are keepers.  Turf interaction in line with the S55’s.  Forgiveness close to the i59’s and better than the TCB’s.  Only challenge was I am transitioning to the softest shafts I have ever played, Modus 105 S.  I am getting old and thought it was time.  Until I got to the 4 iron they were fine.  Smooth tempo gave me great strikes and distance was about the same as my TCB’s.  When I got to full 4 irons, I got a bit too hooky.  My transition was harsh when going a it full.  When I decided to “wait on it” a beat, and I hit it great.  I am going to stick with the soft shafts, since I either will learn or age into them soon enough.  Great irons, I am irrationally optimistic about these.  Maybe shoot my age this year….

Side note, the i59’s will be on BST in the next couple hours.  They are in great condition and a solid choice for someone looking for smaller forgiving irons with great turf interaction and great workability for what they are.

Just got back from a ping fitting day. Mostly hit BPS. To me they felt good not phenomenal. A good bit better than i230. Not as soft as my cobra king tour or 716 AP2. I felt like they were reasonably forgiving but you need to put a good swing on it. Consistent ball flight. With the new fitting head Ping has for the BPS the shaft options were very limited unfortunately which prevented me from getting into a good enough spot to feel comfy buying them. I did hit the 4 iron a few times and despite be uncomfortable to look down at for me, I hit it pretty decent. I may end up buying them.

After more thought, has anyone had an issues with lower launch with the BPS?I was launching these at like 14 with my preferred shaft. The fitter suggested SSX2, the x100 I was in. Perhaps also weakening the lofts a degree.

No I think that’s probably just you. They launched in the perfect window for me. You should weaken lofts. Soft stepping won’t do anything. Can also switch shafts completely. I know modus 120 launches in a much higher launch window than my x100 whenever I’ve tried it

Home course opened the greens today so went out for a quick 9. The Blueprints  are simply the best irons I've owned. Going to sound like a broken record here but they do whatever you ask of them. Absolutely thrilled, kudos Ping!

These are a degree stronger than my usual, but I have a softer shaft, so launch is about the same for me.

Do the BPs compare to the Edel Pros? I’m currently gaming the SMS Pros and they’re really good but looking to get  another set of something. I was either going i230 or BPs.

I came from SMS Pros. Size they are comparable. Feel I think SMS Pros are softer due to the steel they’re using. I would say BPS is more forgiving. I say BPS over i230.

Hello,

F

Here is memo we receive from are Supervisor.

For Blueprint S & T irons with these custom graphite shafts, we will not be able to achieve a wide range of swing weights. If an account is requesting a specific swing weight, please let them know that it might not be achievable. It would be best to avoid any swing weight requests for these types of builds. In order to have these custom shafts in the Blueprint S & T we have to forgo the tip weight which will really limit our swing weight options. It is extremely important to add the BUILD IN WRX option when entering these orders.

Thank you and have a great day!

Play your best,

i got this

Unfortunately, all production for Blueprint S with graphite shaft is on hold until further notice. There is some testing being done at this moment in time.

Thank you and have a great day!

Play your best,

I considered the SMS Pros and even built a 7 iron with MMT 125TX to compare against the BP S & T. I like the Pros. They are a little softer and I wouldn't have a good argument not to bag them. However, the BPT is the clear winner for me in the 7-iron contest. It checked all of the boxes and since I'm coming from OG BP and it's a seamless transition.

I don't have anything against the i230, I just preferred the OG BP over it. But between the BPS and i230, Its BPS all day, every day.

I've played over 200 rounds per year for the past 3 years. The BP 7-W & S55 4-6 combo has handles that kind of use and still able to perform as goos as when they were new. I'm currently awaiting a BP T 7-W & BP S 4-6 with X100 to arrive. I'm gonna pull the heads and install the MMT 125TX and see how this combo stacks up to the previously mentioned BP/S55's. Initial testing says they'll be as good, if not better. Really pumped to see for myself . . .

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

What did you prefer about the BPS vs i230? Considering making the jump so just curious. Find them pretty forgiving and consistent.

I hit them back to back a few days ago. IMO the feel is significantly better in the BPS. I also felt the i230 was pretty significantly more friendly and forgiving. As TXG said in their review of the BPS, it is not a replacement of the i230. It is firmly a players iron in the realm of the T100. I know some on here may disagree and perhaps I didn't hit them enough. I wanted to love the BPS and did enjoy it but felt it was reasonably demanding. With that said I'm an 8 with swing issues so take that for what it's worth. I wanted BPS to be a forged i230 and it's not that. It's great but geared towards good players which is exactly what Ping designed it to be so it's not a flaw in any way.

Ya this is kinda the vibe I get too, where the BPS are a step up in terms of being demanding and etc. I’m + handicap so not a huge deal but at same time will take all the forgiveness I can get within reason. Have seen other reviews where folks claim the BPS is nearly as forgiving as the i230 which seems hard to believe given the pretty big size differences
