What are the highest Launching Players or Players Distance Irons you can buy off the Rack?

I am having a hell of a time hitting my irons high enough.
Demoed a set of the new T200 and I like them but can't hit the long irons high enough.

I've been fitted many times and in the end I'm not good enough to tell the difference.

To me shafts are all about feel and the numbers were only +-5% when changing shafts.

If I were to talk into a store and buy the highest launching players or semi players irons what would I get?
Im sick of hitting 7 and and 8 irons that dont launch high enough to stay on my greens!!

I suspect you're going to have the same problem with nearly any club if you're experiencing lower trajectory.

I may not be scratch, but when I get low trajectory shots I find them to be low impacts on the face be it heel, center or toe strike. My alignment is usually the culprit. I feel like you may be able to work this out with a little experimentation with minor alignment adjustments.

Not really a "players" iron, but the JPX Hot Metal Pro could be worth a look.  Might launch even higher if they were bent a little weak.

If they're too bulky for your liking, the next option might be the JPX Forged line.  But they aren't designed to be as "high launching" necessarily as the HMP irons.

It’s a great question!    I’m in my mid 60s and was a scratch not too long ago .  I also struggle with height on irons.   I bought the srixon Zx4 mk2 irons this year.  Weakened lofts and not great results .     Now im thinking that the stronger lofted distance irons are not going to do the trick .

I have the same issue.  I have done two separate fittings with Titleist with the same results.  I launch their woods and irons lower than any other brand.  Average height of Titleist mid irons (no difference between 150’s, 200’s, and 350’s) is around 75 feet. Wedge and 9 around 100 / 105.  Driver average 65. The crazy thing is my height does not change regardless if it is a 9 deg or 12 deg head.   My current SIM2 averages 100 feet.

i just placed an order for a combo set of pings with the i230’s in the scoring irons.  Extremely happy with height, landing angle, and spin.

1.  You like the T200 irons.

2.  You can't hit the long irons high enough?  That's where you could use some T350 long irons.

Back in the day, pros were using AP2 irons with an AP1 4-iron, or 3-iron.

...you either didn't "demo" the correct set-up in the T200, or might consider something less "players", or both. but I'll deduce since you can't naturally launch and spin it we aren't bringing high ball speed to the table. a Titleist T300 could also be more beneficial.

FWIW if you have not yet paired T200 with the AMT Red in an R300 code, and or graphite, than you still haven't seen what that club can do for you. (you could also be a candidate for soft stepping shafts in your irons, maybe even 2x)

I am in the exact same scenario.  My ball speeds have declined rapidly post 50 years old.

while I need distance, playing with jacked lofts are hurting my game.

I don’t know if they will work, but I have ordered a set of Jpx 923 hot metal HL.  I’m hoping with the fairly traditional lofts combined with the fast face will help.

im already playing pro v1x so I doubt any ball would help.

I’ll let u know.

The Hot Metal HL should work.

I’m going through a similar thing now, and no it’s not a lesson thing.  Some people have a naturally low ball flight with less than ideal spin, same as guys who hit the ball a mile in the air and rip 7i off greens.

Since you are looking at players distance irons then I imagine distance is also an issue.  I have found going 1-2 degrees weak in my iron lofts does help.  Getting the ball in the air with weaker lofts actually doesn’t really affect distance as much as one might think because we are actually losing distance with low flights anyway.  A p790 7i bent 1.5 degrees weak was producing distance numbers very similar to the traditional loft because I was getting more air time.  And, the added spin was holding greens.  I’d bend one of your current irons before looking at a new set just to see.  Bending a set is much cheaper than buying new.

The Maltby TS3 released earlier this year has one of the lowest CG’s going. Very forgiving and easy to launch higher.

I had same issue and ended up settling on Ping I230's. 6-PW. From there went with a 4icrossover weakened the loft for a 5iron and got a 3icrossover weakened for a 4iron. Solved my low ball flight and they're basically a cheat code for the longer irons.
