$600 to burn

I have the ability to expense $600 on golf equipment before Jan 1 2024.  Here’s my current set up:

 

Driver : G425 w/ Tour 85 

3w: G425 Tensei Orange 

4H : G425 

5-GW:  PXG 0211 DC / Accra Series 90i 

54/60- Vokey SM8 

Putter : Bettinardi Inovai / LA Golf P series 

 

Should I get new iron heads ? Driver/shaft ? Wedges ?  Or get lessons a******!

Not sure what your gaps are like but theoretically, looks like you might have a hole in the bag between 3W and 4H and room for one more club in the bag. Some thoughts: 

 

-- Apex UW 19 degree with a Graphite Design shaft is $550ish plus tax.

 

-- G430 7W, minus 1 degree so it plays at 20, plus a Ventus or Graphite Design or Diamana shaft, puts you at $600ish.

 

-- One of those with a stock shaft at $300-$350ish, plus get fitted for a driver shaft, toss a little of your own money in too and buy whatever you're fitted into.

 

-- Or if your driver's working well now ... refresh the wedges, that's $360ish, and add whatever 3H/5W/7W you like to fill the gap.

 

-- Pay for a putter fitting and buy whatever you're fitted into, if you're not already playing a well-fitted putter. That made a bigger difference in my scores than any other fitting I've done.

If you want new equipment for the sake of it, get a LAB putter. you wont regret it

No idea what how you play and what clubs you hit better than others, but a 85g driver shaft with 90g iron shafts is a weird combo.

 

I would bet that one or the other don’t fit unless you are playing the driver shorter than standard and/or the irons over length.

I'll also say go with the lessons; from what you posted, there's nothing wrong with your clubs.  Or, just save the money for a nice golf vacation somewhere.

Get a mat and a net and a bunch of balls.

 

Study up on what good contact is.

 

Spend large amount of time with mat, net, and balls learning to achieve good contact, without worrying about where the balls goes.

 

Play golf with perfectly fine equipment you already have.

Not sure exactly how you're defining "equipment," but you could always use the money for stuff that you'll use eventually, even if you don't need it now.  Buy a set of backup wedges, grips, gloves, balls.

Driver unless you hit that one great. Drives sets you up for the rest of your shots as you know lol. Horde some wedges. Can allways use those in future. Maybe another putter even though what you got is nice. Do you have that one putter that cant miss though? A second set of irons would be cool though.

My thoughts exactly. 600.00 to burn through a work benefit, my guess, and everyone says don’t change anything?!

 

I used mine on a robot caddy. I walk 99% of my rounds on a very hilly golf course. Only ride during club events when it’s basically required. Electric push carts with a remote are amazing and really fun. Just a thought. 
 

if you don’t want a robot bff…I’d get a new driver.

Hmm (avoiding the obvious/boring answer of lessons). If you like your G425’s, but think you could use a different lofted head or a different shaft, they’re marked-down pretty good right now.

 

Fwiw: PGATSS is selling Tsi2/Tsi3 drivers with Graphite Design shafts (DI, IZ, XC) for $499 (i just bought one with a 60g stiff AD IZ in 9* as an alternative to my current 10* Tsi2 which has a lower launching shaft)
