TSR 2 vs TSR3

Instead of changing the driver I would just work on the swing. Tsr2 is a great stick, more forgiving for sure than the tsr3. Stick with it, work on the strike

Tsr 2 is stupidly forgiving and the three is great but not as forgiving. You may find you get worse for that reason if driving isn’t your strongpoint (like me). Were you fit for your tsr2?

another one here to say stick with the TSR2. Im a pretty good driver of the ball and in my testing I found TSR2 to be consistently longer than TSR3. TSR3 did have slightly top end better ball speed but mishits were much worse

My standard deviation was worse with TSR3 than TSR2. With a good angle of attack, TSR2 was plenty low spin for me and I never had to worry about the super low spin knuckleball

Im sick in the head and always end up owning every new driver each year. Can 100% percent say after getting TSR2, TSR3, Stealth 2+, AeroJet LS, Paradym, and ZX5 LS out on the course this year that TSR2 is the only driver I regret selling

Keep the TSR2 for now and go through this:

Best thing I have ever done with driver. Turned a liability to a weapon.

I would get fit for it. Unless you know shaft profiles that's directed towards your swing. I had the tsi3 and it was great with good contact but horrible dispersion with bad swings. I grabbed the tsr3 with the same results. I got lucky and grabbed a tsr2 with 5g neutral hotmelt and put a lighter weight in the back and distance is slightly longer but dispersion was the game changer.  Definitely a 1 up with confidence again.

I miss heel side like you and the TSR3 ended up being better for me. Had a little more juice on top swings, and seemed to not spin out as much on mishits. I may have lost a little distance on some other mishits on the TSR3 vs 2, but was ok with the trade-off. I think some of it depends on how you miss (i.e. all over the face, path vs face, etc) and how consistent that miss is when you do mishit.

Doing the DIY fitting linked above would be a good first step though before buying a new head. Unless you're able to demo one somehow.

Also keep in mind that lie angles can help shift the impact point.

I tend to cluster my strikes around the high-toe side of center. It helped to get into a slightly more upright lie angle (C3) which moved the impact down slightly and back towards center.

Perhaps try one of the four slightly flatter positions on the hosel:

C1 - -0.75o loft

B1 - Standard loft

C4 - +0.75o loft

B4 - +1.5o loft

Get fit for it. Find out if Titleist have a fitting event near you.

I went into my Titleist fitting day fully expecting to walk away fitted into a TSR2, but I was striking the ball out the middle of the face consistently enough that they put me into a TSR3, which once fitted into the right shaft, loft, etc i was getting significantly higher ball speed, swing speed, and carry with.

Not what I expected based on my HC but most of my strokes gained are with driver and my irons, most of my strokes lost are around the greens or putting.

TSR2 was engineered to have more consistent spin and ballspeed #s across the face: from top to bottom, and from heel to toe.

TSR3 was engineered to reward golfers who have consistent center-face impact.  Note that you can slightly "move" that hot zone by putting the adjustable weight behind your typical strike location.  (I'm gaming my TSR3 with the weight in the T1 position)

So if your miss is consistently heel-side with the driver, some golfers have found improvements by going with TSR3 and putting the weight in the H2 position.

But for most golfers, TSR2 will provide more consistent results.

You won't be happy as the Tsr3 is only for someone who can find the center of the face with consistency, serious just work on your swing there is nothing wrong with the Tsr2

When I upgraded from TS2 9.5, I went with TSR3 10'.  Played it for a month before returning it for TSR2 10...glad I did.  Titleist 905-S 9.5 has been my favorite driver, until TSR2 10' came along.  It's maybe the best driver Titleist has made.

TSR3 required me to really focus and execute a solid swing, otherwise, the slightest bit off the sweet spot, I got something I didn't want, mostly baby fades, and I don't like fades.

I hit my irons straight and work them both ways when needed.  However, Driver I just want to hit the ball straight and far.  With TSR2, at B2, I can just smack the hell out of ProV1x or DASH, and they go straight.  If I want a little draw or fade, it's doable.

If you're not using TSR3 sweet spot all the time, for ball control, you might not like what you get.

TSR3 has the adjustable weight. I hit a ton of shots toward the toe, positioned the weight toward the toe and my distance increased by 10 yards with ZERO accuracy issues. If your missing on the heel side, putting the mass (weight) behind your ball-strike could help.

Does anyone have real world evidence that moving weight to the heel for heel strikes makes a big difference as opposed to sticking with the TSR2?

I tried both and the TSR2 was much better.  It’s very forgiving and imo most folks will find more fairways with the 2.  You will only see a very slight increase in distance on center strikes and that’s due to its lower spinning nature.  Over the years I’ve always wanted and tried the 3 and reality has me settle for the 2.

I’m playing the 2 now and really like it. Was developing WRX FOMO on the heel strike stuff lol

I love my TSR3 9* but have been wondering about a TSR2 8*. Anyone done a comparison on these 2? Want to keep launch and spin in same window and know I can't with same loft.

If you don't have a crazy AoA then you can achieve it with the right shaft profile. I needed alot of extras to get mine accurate but it was worth it. So much confidence on the teebox and didn't see a distance loss. If anything further. Way better dispersion. And its very workable if you're a shot shaper.

I have a TSR2 8* and TSR3 8* and 9*.  I was fit into the 8* TSR2 but moved onto the TSR3 8* pretty quickly.  I have more issues with face control than center contact and found the TSR3 provided a higher launch with a little lower spin in comparison to the TSR2 at "like for like" static loft.  They are both really good but like others have said you will have a better overall experience if you wander away from the center of the club face with the TSR2.  Like most Titleist clubs, the differences between the two models are subtle and come down to a slightly different looks at address, different feel at contact and playability.

Key is to get fit, work with a Launch Monitor and leverage your pro or fitter to fine tune the COG etc...

I have and play both 2 and 3. Both at 10*. And I love them both. However, I find myself playing the 2 more often. I feel I have an easier time with it.

Regarding the 3, IMO there is nothing like it when you hit it dead center (with weight in center). Feel, sound and distance are all top notch! Best driver I’ve ever had. But I’m still more consistent with the 2 so I play that. The 2 in my main bag and the 3 in my backup.

Is the shape the same on both heads? I have tsr3 but could use more forgiveness. Love the shape tho

The shape is a little different. The TSR3 is more of the persimmon's shape (Tour-Preferred shape) and the TSR2 is more bulbish and is evenly shaped accross the head. In my opinion, the TSR2 feels just a little bit bigger but they both have 460cc heads.

Yeah, I'm not having contact issues with my 3 at all. I wander to the toe but like what I see from there with the weight placed behind it. I tried a 2 in the 9* and lost distance because it spun a bit too much and the Titleist fitter said I would have any issues with forgiveness. Just that wandering eye and wondering if I could gain something out of the 2 in a lower loft.

I’ve had the 3 in a 9, 2 in 8 & 9.  For me, there was not a significant change in spin going from TSR3 9 to TSR2 8.  Maybe 150 RPM or so.  I felt more confident looking down at the 2, so that’s what I stuck with.
