First Negative Feedback 😑

The absolute best case scenario if we wanted to be VERY charitable is that the buyer is ignorant to shaft pulling practices and isn’t aware how he could have caused the damage he maybe felt was already there. That would *still* make it his responsibility, just without the malice. Otherwise he’s a complete scumbag that simply saw an opportunity to get a refund for his own f*** up. I hope site administration makes this right from a feedback standpoint at least.

@endy How long is the shaft currently?

43 7/8” as it sits, I’d say it would need to be tipped at least an inch. Could probably be turned into a mini driver shaft or 3 wood shaft

No chance he's responding in this thread.  He's been active all day and keeps viewing this thread.  He knows what he did.

I saw he had some shafts for sale recently that had the adapters pulled.  Wonder if he trashed those as well and tried to pass them off on someone else.

If this is the crack here, you can obviously see that this was the result of twisting the tip while pulling. I can't believe that Paypal would side with the buyer here. Maybe there is a way to escalate the claim, since this is 100% an altered item? Paypal is known to side with buyers, but they dont want to lose their sellers either.

@jon0105 I will echo what others have said. This is not right. We have a nice community here where we share a hobby and help each other out in that hobby. You still have the opportunity to make this right. Be a good person.

Yes, that is the crack he was referring to. The part that stinks is that I told him multiple times that he caused it, and the evidence was clear, but he still stood by his work. I even suggested that he just tip it and use it in a mini driver or 3 wood.  Many would also argue that once he pulled the adapter he should have forfeited his right to dispute, but he still went through with it.

PayPal did not see it that way either, although they are notorious for siding with the buyer and I think he knew that. I told them that multiple club builders all came to the same conclusion, the tip was not pulled properly and the damage was caused by the buyer. They still sided with him, even though he clearly damaged it.

Unbelievable. And Paypal just keeps piling on. Can't stand the way they operate. And a $15 fee for handling disputes now? Baffling how little sense they have.

Only the second member I've added to my ignore list. He should feel special.

I had to laugh when I got that email. Like come on guys, I am already out shipping, PayPal fees, my payments are on hold, the guy mutilated this driver shaft, effectively turned it into a 3 wood shaft without an adapter, and still got his money back. Now you want to charge an additional fee for the dispute lol. I swear if they try to kick my dog that will be the last straw hahaha

Wow, this situation is my worst nightmare as a seller.  Mods, can we ban this @jon0105 character?!  The fact that he has been active and hasn't responded in this thread whatsoever is a huge sign of guilt.  I think this is like the second or third incidence recently where a relatively high positive feedback member does something shady as a buyer.  Time to throw down the hammer, mods!

Sucks to see this fellas... before this dispute, Jon0105 looks to be a solid member here. Not as established as @endy but solid member feedback. Even with documenting everything, very disappointing to see PayPal not side with you (endy).

@jon0105 - Not my business but recommend chiming in. You know we have a great community here and it just sucks to see you get blocked by many, over a single transaction.

Have any of the mods seen this thread?  This guy has been active on WRX multiple times a day since this has been posted and viewed this thread with no reply.  He should be taken off this site so he doesn't screw anyone else over.  There is no way I would ruin my reputation over a golf shaft.  He should just eat his mistake and move on.

There are those that are on Golfwrx for BST privileges ONLY.  We all know the type and I'm not knocking it.  This guy @jon0105 is one of those.  At the very least, WRX should block those privileges.

Might be tough one, he's been here since 2006, 348 posts and 26 feedback. Sounds more like one of those whos had good feedback and decide to go south with the shenanigans ala crssmith and his 300 yard can't hit BS so it's the equipment fault blah, blah, blah

I think the right thing to do is remove endy's negative feedback left by jon0105, suspend jon0105 for 4 weeks or lose BST privilege's like I've seen on some accounts -- that will send a clear message to stop this BS

May be it's just me but feels like there's too many of them this year from unsuspecting members with many feedback. Ugh 😮

shame to see this done to you. Having been here about a year now we have had some great chats and some great transactions between us, and always seeing you on different discussions, you're a great dude, I think anyone who sees this thread would agree, one idiotic bad feedback won't put a smidge on your reputation.

Reading encounters like this worries me especially as someone who hasn't been selling long, if some day someone would try and pull something like this, unbelievable that PayPal sided with him. I hope this is dealt with accordingly, so other people won't consider pulling something like this in the future.

@endy how long is the black ball on your money by PayPal going to last?

I am not certain regarding the PP issue. I am planning to call them later today to get some clarification and try to further explain my side, likely without recourse but worth a shot I suppose.

I think you have enough photos and you have the PMs that you should disclose to PayPal. At the end of the day, the adapter was on when it was sold as-is and shipped and it was returned with the adapter off. And, it's not like you can simply pull the adapter off by hand, it needs heat and action by the buyer - he damaged it when he altered the shaft.

Its hard to remove epoxy glue that keeps the adapter on - something that the guy at the PP office probably does not know because he's not a golf club builder

Yeah, hope they listen

Good luck with this mate, really hate to see you go through this

I would also suggest finding and copying and pasting the do's and don't of club work - like low heat and straight pull (no twisting, not destroying the adapter), etc. You need to give a non-golf person evidence so they see the proper way to do things. I would also include links to whatever you submit - if that's an option.

When contacting PayPal keep it simple.  Let them know the item was altered (tip removed via applying heat) and thus was not returned in the same condition as it was sold.  I wouldn't get into other club builders agreeing that he did the damage, etc.  Too much explaining will likely just confuse the matter for them (non-golfers/club builders).  The fact is that once any 'club building' took place the transaction should have been considered final (with some exceptions of course, but again not worth going into with PayPal for this instance).
