The Sentry is the 2024 season’s first Signature Event and includes PGA TOUR winners from the previous calendar year as well as the top 50 players from the 2022-23 FedExCup Points List through the TOUR Championship (i.e., those who qualify for the BMW Championship, the second FedExCup Playoffs event).

 

The PGA TOUR who's who will be there minus the tourament's defending champion.

 

Purse is $20m with 700 FedEx Cup points up for grabs.

 

Viewing will be on NBC, Peacock, ESPN+ and Golf Channel in no specific order.  Good luck finding your watching access.

It is essential to get off to a good start, every PGAT player's goal at this point is to get to Eastlake. Like you said 700 points are up for grabs.

Wife and I heading to Napa/Sonoma tomorrow for our niece's 21st b-day so I added a side trip to Maui on Southwest ($129 each way and wife flies for free on my companion pass).  We get to Maui on THUR, haven't booked lodging yet, waiting as airbnb and booking.com rates drop.  Also waiting for golf tickets to get cheaper on Stubhub.  Any tips while we're there?

It used to only include winners from the previous season. It was changed to start 2023 to include members that made the tour championship and now it includes the top 50 in the FEC from the previous season due to the Signature Events.

 

From Golfweek....Jan 2023.

 

For the 2023 event and beyond, the field will include not just those who won a PGA Tour event from the previous year but also anyone else who qualified for the Tour Championship. There is some crossover, of course, but this year’s field of 40 includes 10 non-winners who made the final 30 of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

 

The 2021 Sentry event had the same thing in place but that was due to the fallout in the massive schedule disruptions due to the COVID pandemic. In 2022, the Sentry went back to winners only.

 

For 2024.

I love Kapalua and the Sentry tournament, especially now that it's back as the official start to the season. Hopefully this will also be a nice boost to the whole area, both monetary and emotional, with Lahaina not too far away.

 

I got to play there back in April 2022 and loved every minute of it. The course was immaculate, and even though the round was long, it just meant more time to take in the amazing scenery and realize how lucky I was to play in such a beautiful place. If you have the chance to play it and can afford it, then make it happen because it's a great course.

I like Åberg and Scheffler for this. Not a Scheffler fan, but his game is ridiculous and he can suddenly putt with his newest magic wand. Åberg is also sick with those sticks and has the right blend of hunger and healthy focus to get it done early. Whatever happens I doubt it will be a runaway, so should be a good watch all week long.

I'm going out on a limb and saying a player that didnt win last year wins this year theyre are 24 players who didnt have a 2023 win in the field and some are really due like cam young, eric cole, tom fleetwood, and Ben An.

Could see vik taking this one. Good ball striker and can get hot with the putter. On those giant greens you really need to be accurate or you’ll be looking at long tough birdie putts. For a guy struggling with the putter like scheffler he’ll have to be a surgeon with his approach shots
