I’m getting tired of dissolving Headcovers………

Recommended Posts

GRRRRR.   I don’t know if it’s just cause I’m in Florida, but any OE Headcover I have had the last decade starts decomposing in a couple seasons.  I know this is GolfWRX, and you are supposed to replace your equipment before the HC dissolves, but I like to keep drivers, FW and putters a long time.  My quarter century old leather putter cover is just fine.  Leather just gets a bit worn, but it does not flake away.   Recent Callaway & Titleist Driver Headcovers are horrible.  Can the major OEM at least make a Headcover that lasts 4 or 5 years?

ENd of Rant.

They're producing thousands upon thousands of clubs thus as many or more covers to go with them, they're out there to just provide something for protection and advertising as well.

Like many others buy an aftermarket cover of quality.

I never use the OEM covers anyway.  They are big, bulky, ugly and based on your experience, they dont last very long anyway.

I still use my Callaway Rogue from 2018, but Seamus covers and they look great.

If you can get down with the name and marketing, SWAG makes some absurdly nice headcovers. I've got them on all my clubs and they only get better with age

I’ll second this…they can be pricey, but Seamus makes good stuff.

I'm in Minnesota, so probably not nearly as rough on headcovers as Florida, but I still mostly have aftermarket/replacement ones from the lost and found on mine. Main headcover is a Daphne's schnauzer, but I'll have a Minnesota Twins one on another driver, and mix and match of original and the aforementioned lost and found ones.

I'll also note that by lost and found, I'm referring to the stuff given away at the end of the season.

You keep a headcover....dare I say an entire club....for 'a couple seasons'? Thats the real revelation here 😂

I dont think a club or headcover lasts more than 3 months for me.

I use knitted covers on woods and hybrids.  bag looks good and those last a good long while.

all my OEM covers are stored in a large plastic storage tub. ( a couple of them actually )

The real leather covers from sunfishsales.com are top notch and reasonably priced.  Their knit ones are as good as Jan Craig for a lot less.

OEM covers are mostly junk. I like Winston, Dormie, Headgear. Quality leather that lasts.

Not mention you are basically advertising what clubs you have in your bag, and if you play at places where things can happen, it can be trouble.  I've heard enough stories of guys having drivers lifted right out of their bag when they are in the lounge and their bag is outside, I keep the rain hood on at all times.  Put a non-OEM head cover on there they have no idea if you have a Paradym AI Smoke or the Perfect Club under there.

Thailand is also terrible for plastics - there will come a time if you live here long enough when a pair of shoes disintegrate/sole falls off while you're out somewhere or on the golf course.

PU headcovers start rotting after a year or so... same with that nasty Superstroke style of grip material.

All my headcovers are leather (Stitch or Bestgrips) - (except for a LAB DF2.1 putter, lol)

Bestgrips microperf grips (don't need or wear any glove)

MY sister-in-law sent her favourite old putter over to rewrap the grip or repair/replace... but I've let here know there's a, errr, bit of a problem :-

🤪

As I'm a hopeless putter, I am able to supply here a replacement 2 Ball putter... and as a bonus it does not have a plastic insert (it's a black ProType 2 Ball, solid face, lovely).
