What is this club dropping thing, a new trend on tour? Used to see it every so often, but it feels like I'm seeing a few people do it in almost every tourney now. Often for WTF reasons - I mean I can see it if someone seriously hoses a shot (you know it right away), but in the last hour I've seen Morikawa do it on an iron shot that didn't seem bad at all (ended up on the front fringe of the green), and Theegala do it on a drive ... that ended up dead center in the fairway. 

 

Is it some new secret follow-through technique that no one's told me about?

Guys have watched Hideki do the club drop and his ball ends up 10' from the hole. So they are all like, "I gotta try that!"

When I think of Scottie these days, it’s that pose of him after a missed putt where he turns towards his caddie and covers his mouth with a bewildered look on his face.

Then Wyndham pulls 5 iron from 253.

Rory supposed to be top golfer and plus 3 first day..woods is old n crippled and he shot better. Rory won't win a major again...I said it before ...hes a top 10 guy in majors but +3 today is awful.

played a local tournament during college (non-collegiate event) I lost count but I must have shanked the ball 7+ times during the first round, I just kept going sideways 😭 took me a while to recover mentally lol

His game is very fragile these days; he looked good, bogie free and -3 through 10, and then fell to pieces.
