Aretera shafts - 2024 Genesis Invitational

Very cool graphics.  Doesn't look like these are available retail yet.  Tempted to pick one up for testing when they're released.

NM. Found my answer.

“Graphics: In keeping with Aretera’s strategy of allowing “the fitter to be the hero,” the company has taken an interesting approach to its shaft graphics. In addition to doing away with flex designations, each shaft features three rectangles that are shaded to indicate the relative firmness or flex of the butt, middle, and tip of the shaft. This serves as a handy reference for both fitter and player in communicating how the shaft functions throughout the golf swing. Additionally, graphics for an “active” tip shaft are blue and charcoal for a firmer tip.”

Shaft companies trying to reinvent the R/S/X flex designations are like 2 for 10 in the last decade. Only Accra and UST can get away with this and not go bankrupt. Why new shaft makers feel they need to be different is beyond me.

🤷🏻 I believe Mitsubishi does a similar thing with their C6 line

I don't mind the numerical flex since flex isn't universal but many are doing it as well such as LAGP, KBS and some MCA line. I'm definitely curious on these, I'm sure not cheap but maybe a different approach to the Ventus shafts by the designer. Trying to time a driver fitting for when these are released.

Nothing like confusing the consumer with yet another arbitrary system that is dependent upon fitter's being well versed, extremely limiting in entering the marketplace.

Looks as though the blue has a softer tip compared to the black with the mid and handle being similar.  Black will most likely be low launch/spin and blue mid launch/mid-low spin.

Considering there's no standard aside the use of R-S-X-TX because each producer has it's own parameters, it's already confusing enough...

I think this is disingenuous to be honest and I always see people say this in defense of alternate designations but IMO it's less than a half truth.

Sure every shaft maker could label any stiffness whatever they want - but they dont. The L/A/R/S/X/etc designations are 98% of the time within the same range of each other because the normalization of those flex ranges over time and what people choose has forced them to.

Of course there are going to be lines of shafts here and there that play soft to flex or strong or etc based on material placement and each person being different in ideals and ability - but from a machine standpoint when you CPM/measure modern shafts out they (again, overwhelmingly generally) come out within the same ranges for these flex designations.

Nobody is making an R flex shaft that is as stiff as an X or vice-versa. And as we all know if you want to get fancy, you can do all kinds of things to golf equipment to alter it in feel.

Nothing better than working for yourself. I’m definitely curious about these shafts, especially considering he’s the Ventus creator.

Same after seeing some first impressions at the PGA Show I've been curious. Also curious to see if he's built on the Ventus profile and improved on it, I like the Ventus shafts only up until before impact then just feels off for me, if these improve on that could be in one.

If Aretera doesn’t sound like the name of some medication 💊 you would see an ad for on TV, I don’t know what does!

Maybe prescribed for people with blood clots. 😂😂😂. Please ask your doctor about Aretera.

Possible side effects: slice, hook, excess high or low spin, and occasional constipation caused by out of bounds shots.
