Resurrected....

Got my new G15s yesterday with ZZ65s and hit the range last night and LOVE them so far. Long and straight on every shot. Didn't get along too well with my previous set with KBS regs (pulled them left and spun too much). Decided to give them another chance with a stiffer tipped shaft and they looked good last night. First round today!

These things are point an shoot on the course, even with 15 mph winds today. Shot an 81 with 2 doubles, but GIR went up! Just could not sink a birdie putt. Haven't gotten my new driver yet so had to use my FT-3 and had a few issues there, but the irons are good. Need to work with the wedges some more...still a little rusty yet...

BTW i still play my G15's and will certainly play them all of 2011 aswell....in fact i plan on ordering the 9 iron, PW and maybe a GW aswell in G15, as right now i have the short irons in the I series. Easily the best decision i ever made equipment wise was making this change. Since i did i have more confidence then ever before and feel that 2011 will be a great season. I actually was under par in my first outdoor round of the season last weekend which has never happened before (well i've been under par many times obviously but never in my first round of the year)

i actually saw a set of G10 XG's on sale today for a great price brand new. Thinking of buying those aswell rather than buy the 9 iron and PW in the G15...

the G10's actually look amazing too, sole is slightly smaller as is the heel-toe length.

I'm about to pull the trigger on some G15s from Discount Dan's this week, and before I do, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I normally play R300s, and I was wondering if the AWT Regs are a close approximate in terms of flex to those. I can play S300s, but I gotta work a bit to get good distance with them. My driver SS is 94-98 mph and my 150 club is a 6 iron. Anyone got any advice?

And yes, following this thread is what turned me on to the G15 hype! Thanks.

Does the stiff graphite shaft in the G15 play a little weaker than the awt in stiff?

I played S300s for years and then R300s as I wanted to lower my ballflight and try to get some distance back going to regs. My swing was the issue (all upper body). I have had G15s with AWT regs and KBS regs. I feel the AWT to be a little softer than R300s and that is probably because they are 25+ grams lighter in weight. The AWT also fly higher and ballooned for me. If you normally play R300s and are comfortable with them, then spend the couple buck extra upfront and get them in the G15s. Much cheaper than ordering AWT, not liking them and then reshafting. I just got mine last week with Z-Z65 softstepped and the ballooning is gone. GREAT SHAFT! My driver SS is about th same as yours but my 150 club is a 7 iron.

I think the AWT shafts really ruined the G15s for me. With any slight wind, these things would balloon like crazy!! I was sky rocketing my 6 iron and it would drop straight down at the 150 (i usually hit my 8 iron to 150). Plus it felt like irons 4,5 and 6 were going the same distance... Maybe i should have tried different shafts, but for now, im on the lookout for a lower launching set. Also, a couple times when i took a decent sized divot, i thought the shafts were gonna snap because the soles "stuck in the mud".

Ok these things are for real. Shot a 78 today with 9 GIR and a few just off in the fringe. 6 under my handicap. The new G15 driver with TFC stiff is also treating me very well.

I'm really considering upgrading to the G15s... I just don't know if I should do it now, or wait another season for the price to drop (college student with limited cash haha). I've got a set of i3 Blades which have been pretty good to me... anybody played both and can make a fair comparison?

All the GI clubs to test all seem to have lightweight shafts,....all the players clubs have the heavier stiffer shafts.

At a heated range - after hitting the CG16 tours [w/ s300's] better than the CG16's [with 85 gram stiff] - I knew I needed to see if it was all in the head or all in the shaft - but there is no way to find out.

Hit the g15 with a regular AWT shaft that day too and I knew just how wrong that was for my swing - but I could tell that the head was the real deal.

took my G15 out of the garage for a run after i've been fiddling with the ping ansers for a while. I must say i'n still amazed at how much better an iron player these make me. i hit them nice and high with great distance control.

Not sure if you have any shops close to you with the the full Ping fitting cart but the place I go to has the new one with iron heads and interchangeable shafts...S300 is one of them. It had KBS, ZZ65, AWT, etc.

I picked up a set of G10 XGs 3-PW this weekend for $300 brand new in store. Will rotate them in with my i15s I really like the forgiveness.

In my opinion, No, it's no easy to find them with the DG shaft. I may suggest, if you are serious, buying a single iron from Discount Dans with the DG shaft and playing with it for a while to see how you like it.

lol, stick with your Answers. I'm loving mine, going to order the 9 and PW to complete my set. First 9 holes with them shot 38. Much easier to hit than my S56's. If I didn't use hybrids, I would look into G15 3 and 4 irons.

I actually wanted to join the party and called my pro to ask how much a set would be with s300s. He laughed at me and said it would make my misses (lefts, hooks, .....) worse. Is this true? Even with the s300s?

AWT regs = left
KBS reg = left
ZZ65 = DEAD STRAIGHT and NO BALLOONS! My typical miss is left and I have NO ISSUES with these shafts. S300s would be $$$

my swing looks a lot like Bubba Watson's. Now that he's a bit more famous i've been told that probably 3 times in my last 7-8 rounds

I don't have a problem with hooks at all, actually i play more fades than i ever did with my I10's. Weird but i fade it naturally a lot better

not true. offset does not cause hooks, offset only help hit the ball higher

According to some in the industry, offset is believed to cause someone to hit the ball lower. There is a new article in Golf Digest all about offset. Very confusing and contradictory if you ask me.

S300's / X100's are a $10 upcharge. Well worth it IMO.

My miss is left and I do not hit hooks with these irons.
