Pretty cool for JP, super good guy. My guess is that they will have JP grind master molds and then they will make casts, similar to what they do now. Too costly to offer hand ground wedges to the masses, it's not like one person can grind and mass produce that many wedges. Maybe we'll see a spin off of his work in the "Hand Ground" line too. They already have really good and simple Tour grinds, so I hope they don't abandon those......

I would think the JP wedge line will be very similar to SC putter line in regards to volume availability as well as some form of customization.

Wow, they certainly seem to have grabbed the top talent to replace Vokey.

My prediction: the Vokey line stays on for a few years and JP takes over the custom department. That will allow him to establish cred with those who don't know him yet. And in a few years James Patrick will be the signature name on all of their wedges.

I think this is a good move for Titleist. The Vokey wedge line is the standard by which all wedges are judged and BV is the king of wedges.

But BV is growing old and has faced some health issues in recent years. Its time to find a successor to the throne. Looks like Titleist has their wedge prince.

This is good and bad.

Good- Titleist has a great artist who will possibly take over BV's throne. Titleist can get a fresh new look.

Bad- JP won't be able to be as creative as he is now. I don't see all his crazy grinds going to retail. Not sure pure traditionalists are ready for JP...

Anyone else sad to see Voke go? I have to be honest, I didn't know much about JP. His custom stuff looks great. It will be interesting to see what elements of his style he is 'allowed' to bring over to Titleist.

The options with grinds and stamping will drive the price up close to 250 like the vokey customs. I am curious if the stock JP wedges from titleist will retail around the same prices as the vokeys.

I feel the same way. I respect his work and he's got a ton of talent. But the design just doesn't fit my eye, maybe that's a good thing for my wallet though!

This is pretty cool...I've wanted a JP wedge since I 1st saw them but didn't/couldn't shell out $200-$300 per wedge. I would bet Titleist has probably already figured out a way to mass produce these, they're not going to alienate their loyal wedge fans by all of sudden charging double.

Wonder if JP will have more presence in the tour vans, learning with Voke and the players.

I am a huge Harrington fan and I wish him all the best but I also know how this industry works. Are we for sure that James is replacing Vokey? I really hope its true, however, it just seems like a big jump from a company that likes to hire from within considering major positions i.e. Vokey came from the woods division, Uihlein started as a sales rep. There are several Titleist employees that have been working under the tutelage of Voke for many years, expecting a shot at master craftsmen when he retires.

Whatever the case, Titleist's stable has a new thoroughbred, that's for sure.

Shocker. I had JP price me some wedges last year. A) the quality looks silly awesome, B) we share names. In the end, I couldn't/wouldn't spend $800 on two wedges that I'd hate to hit because of their beauty. If his quality translates into a mid-priced option offering from Titliest, look out world.

I can see two lines of wedges for a while. JP coming in seems like the perfect time to enter into the Forged Wedge Business in America. Maybe they will go with JPs head shape too, which I love the looks of.

JP does great work and is a great guy. Had him do some bounce adjustment of some irons of mine and they came out great. sure whatever he does with titleist will be great. hopefully they let him fully express himself and don't water down his style too much (maybe they'll do a mass produced line and a custom line similar to the "hand ground" series).
