Who is completely content with their bag?

I've been married to the same beautiful woman for 38 years, and I'm very happy and content. Because I'm a normal man though, if a pretty lady walks by I'll look at her.

I'm content with my bag right now too (we've only been together less than a year however) but that doesn't mean I don't look at pretty new clubs..

Of course the big difference is obvious: In marriage all I do is look or else I wouldn't have made it 38 years. In golf I'm not so committed to any one club.

I do think I have improved my game through better technology, but only to a very limited point. In the end it's all about your swing and your brain.

A few months ago, I had posted in the thread about 'favorite all time clubs'. I noticed one of the replies was asking why so many people had listed equipment from the late 90's but were not playing them today. If that's truly your favorite all time set up - why not play it?

I asked myself the same question and went back to my all-time favorite set up. Just so happens all of it is from the late 90's sans the putter. However, the model existed back then, just not the newer vintage.

In the many rounds I've played this set, I can say the newer tech was not saving me any strokes. I play just as well, have more fun, and truly love my set up. I have so many fond memories of these sticks, that even if I make a bad swing, I dont blame the club.

I love being asked about my older set and how I can stand playing older clubs. Honestly, I just cant afford to keep 'upgrading' and not see a real benefit out of it. Most of the better golfers I know tend to stick with a set up until something truly comes along to help them in some particular way.

I guess I have just grown out of spending $ on clubs, having to sell what the new replaced, and losing 1/2 my money on the transaction. So, I'm sticking with this set up until something breaks. Then, I'll just hit up ebay or my local play it again sports and buy it again.

Excellent question. Wonder that myself. People will say, "Man, I loved that Titleist 983K driver. Could hit it a mile. And never missed a fairway!" Then you look at their signature and they're playing some new club. I get it. I like shiny new things too. But in the end, I want the ball to fly off the tee to go long ways and hit fairways.

Been a long road getting the right feel and set ups for this ho, but one last update and I think I will be pretty content. Metals are great, irons are great, wedges are perfect, putter is great, and i am only waiting on a custom Machine and I should be done for a while...LOLOLOL sounds hilarious when I actually type that out, cause even I do not believe it.

Happy owner here... I still watch what's moving on eBay and WRX but I don't feel the constant urge to upgrade. If I was a master in the ways of the driver I may be hunting for a 915 D3 but, since I hit my 910 well enough when I need it (and generally hit my hybrid far enough from everywhere but the longest tips around here), I think I'll stick with what I have. Besides, we just moved into a new house and have plenty of things that can be made much better with the cash I'd spend on golf equipment.

I have been blessed in that I have access to Trackman and many shafts and clubs. This last year I was able to work on my numbers and now have a driver I can hit to my max with accuracy.Irons that are dialed in and some hybrids and 3 wood that bring most par 5's in reach. I will always look and try but from now on it will have to be a marked improvement to unseat anything in my bag. Trackman for me is big, I was able to work on my swing path and angle of attack. Great tool. But feel, looks are still a big factor.

I am never content, but I haven't bought anything in a long while. Of course 13 of my clubs most on this board wouldn't even accept as a gift, let alone want to buy. But this year I saw my hdcp drop to 1-3 range and stay there. In the past I had spats of great play, but this year it has been consistent all summer.
My set up
Driver: Adams F11 10.5 voodoo reg
4W: TE CB3 16.5 RIP stiff (got this for $26, never expected to be able to hit it with that shaft, but it has been Mr Reliable for me ever since)
Hybrids: Infinity Assure XS 20 & 24 (I don't use the 24 much at all). iron-like hybrids, hard to find
Irons: Golfworks KE4 Tour (2012) 4-GW
Wedges: Golfworks Tricep 54 & 60
Putter: Ping Craz-E G2

Driver: SIM 9*, Ventus 6R
FWs: Maltby ke4 ist 17*, kura kage silver 65 R; ke4 ist pro 20*, Maltby fw shaft

4H: Srixon ZX, Evenflow Riptide 80 5.5

I have a Rors 006, but the Golo is going so well the Rors is benched indefinitely. I need to cut it to 33" and get a couple of extra layers of tape under the grip, then it will be a contender vs the golo.

I have been a pretty big ho the last 12-15 months, but realized something recently.

The only thing I look for as far as clubs go anymore is buying a backup of what I have.

I almost bought 2 815 hybrids from CPO yesterday for $100 each, and now thinking of getting a second tank cruiser #7, as they won't be around forever.

I will get a backup 815 DBD head at some point, just love my bag
