I stand corrected, I always thought it was the 962's, I really like the 990's also.

Ah, the old Parallax. I played with them, or tried to, for about 2 months when Freddy played them. Hook machines for me. Soooo much toe weight. Did nothing but hook. Was actually Bizarre.

 

Today I can tell you with all honesty that in my 35 years of playing experience, my Hogan PTx are the best irons I’ve ever played. They are waaaaay under appreciated on this site.

 

They are incredible. Look great, feel great, very durable finish for a forged club. You can flight them. You can work them both ways. Great price as well now that they are factory direct. I just wish they had more shaft options because people always complain about that. Strangely enough, even though I’d never played them before, they perform perfectly for me with Tour V 120x’s. They are priced at a point where people should just buy them and reshaft if they’re sure they want something else, but the Tour V does work in them.

 

In the last 2 1/2 years I’ve owned:

None had a chance to kick the Hogans out of the bag. PXG put up a good fight, but it’s not a better club.

I loved my MP-60’s but the Tour Stage z101’s felt better; however, they were out of my price range back then. Tried many other clubs in between but I liked these two cavity back sets the best.

Duval used 962b 4-pw irons with DCI-B to replace 2,3 irons when he shot his 59.

1999-2000 Hogan Apex Plus.

 

I have since changed my mind. Pings S series has as good of feel as my Hogan's and is tons more forgiving. The Apex's are softer but the S56's are just plain solid and wonderful.
