Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

I played another round today splitting time between the 2015 TM TPX and the K-Sig. There's no doubt for me the TM ball is a firmer feeling golf ball on every club in the bag. The lower trajectory I saw on the initial round with the K ball wasn't as noticeable today, so I'll put that on my swing that round instead of the ball. Unlike most here I can get into the urethane cover of the K. Of my original sleeve of 3, 2 balls now show markings from well struck wedges and really don't need to be played any further. That's no big deal to me because I can do that to every urethane ball I've ever played. I see no major downside issue with the K and look forward to playing it again when my order arrives this week. For the money, this is a very easy decision to make.

First time out with the ball and played 9 holes. Played side by side with my usual Taylor Made Tour Preferred.

I don't see the same durability others are talking about but it is consistent with my usual TM TP. Pictures attached.

Distance off the tee was around 10 ~ 12 yards shorter. Ball flight off the tee was lower for me and I was consistently hitting one club longer into holes.

All irons shots felt the same, couldn't tell the balls apart.

Green side spin and bunker shots were comparable. Didn't feel like I need to adjust my shots because I was using a different ball.

Putting didn't feel any different. If I was blind folded I couldn't tell the difference between the two balls.

I didn't hit any cart paths or trees like many others.

Finished even par (2x birdie, 2x bogey).

Will play a full round tomorrow and hoping the distance loss off the tee was just something for today.

How are they making them this cheap? No advertising costs? Bulk? Cheaper materials even though it's a 4-piece Urethane?

The reviews sound good and and I'm going to buy a few dozen. Is this a limited run or going to be made available for the foreseable future?

I think the more pertinent question is why is everyone else making them so expensive... And the answer is marketing costs (pro golf deals included) and because they can.. I hope this changes the way golf companies think about products and marketing... I think, and hope the days of massive marketing deals for equipment are numbered because that's probably the biggest expense the big companies have and if a company makes a dud of a product they can usually save it by pumping bucks into marketing.

I tossed my pro a kirk at my home course to use and he planned on trying it out, but he also gets all the free pro v's he wants just for being a course pro... I imagine this is not an exclusive deal. So think about all of the free equipment we as customers of the golf industry subsidize for the guys who work in the golf business. The big up front costs leave tiny margins for the golf shops as well.

I personally would not switch from the pro v1x unless the ball was as good or better, price alone would not really sway me... The ball being great, and the price being what it is.. yeah, no brainer...

got mine ordered last night, then went to Costco today. I lived in California before last year and Costco was 2 hours away and an all day affair. Now here in Idaho I literally am a Par 5 away. Not only did my store in Nampa not have the K ball it had NO 21 year old wiskey OR ANY hard liquor at all!! I did get two pints of Indian Pale ale from a localy brewery out of Boise tho.

Oh and I am not a big vanilla ice cream fan but the Kirkland Ice cream is the best ANY flavored ice cream i have ever had. I add a few strawberries from the back yard and voila! a masterpiece OR hoodys Praline pecans from Costco.

BUT the 3 callaway golf gloves for $16 arent so hot. They tear easy and dont last long. I buy Bionics now (on sale for $16 at Dicks -Black palm) and they last for round after round. Worth the extra money.

I also took advantage of the Bridgestone buy 2 get one free deal at Dicks today.

Actually its VERY dangerous that Costco and Dicks are just a block from my house here in Nampa

Who is Nassau? Maybe I missed it but sounded like it's some company who is making these balls?

Nassau is the agency responsible for developing and launching the K-sig into space. Due to federal budget cuts, Costco has been contracted to roll out the ball. I'm heading a private endeavor this afternoon and will be attempting to launch the K-Sig into low earth orbit from a golf course in the western suburbs of Chicago.

I was finally able to get these into play. I have to confirm that the ball is legit, not like there needs to be more positive reinforcement. It was hard to tell in terms of distance, as I was playing in 15-20 mph winds with 40 mph gusts. However, I was able to get a good sense around the greens. I was really happy with the spin as well as feel off the putter.

Sadly, I lost a sleeve during the round due to the millions of leaves, but based on the price, it didn't feel so bad.

Add me to the list of converts. I had ordered 8 dozen before I had even played it (due to reviews and cheapness) and after putting 18 holes on a ball today I might have to order another 8 dozen just to keep me well stocked next year.

I wouldn't have been able to tell it from any premium ball today, and at it's price it really is amazing. I did notice it was unusually durable on two shots. I played a low draw a little too far out to the right on the second hole and smacked a limb pretty squarely (managed to save par :D) and didn't really see any surface damage. Also bounced a towering 58* wedge shot off of either the cart path or the set of wood stairs right next to the cart path and again didn't see any scuff marks.

EDIT:

I really didn't lose or gain distance. For instance I had 207 on the 10th (par 5) and hit my usual 5 iron. I hit it about 205 and that was with a little more fade than I expected. Drives went as far as I normally expect them, and wedges performed pretty much the same as always from a distance stand point. I must say I really do like the feel of the ball.

They probably cost the same to make as a prov1. Costco just doesnt feel entitled to gouge its customers to the tune of 10000% markup.

Not like this will be a surprise, but I think I am a convert as well. Played two rounds this weekend, one on a links course in 25mph winds (on the shore of Lake Erie) and the other under normal conditions. No noticeable loss of distance, decent flight through the wind, acceptable spin on and around the greens.

I am typically a Pro V1 player. Do these balls feel as good off my club as a Pro V in all instances? No. But close enough that I will probably change, for a while at least. However, I won't be buying large quantities. If I bought 50 dozen balls, they would probably have to be cleaned out of my basement after I die. That's a lot of balls.

Gave the Ksig's a trial run today. Don't flame me but after one round, I don't think this will be my new go-to ball (will play one more round before deciding). A bit about my game:

Hcp - 2.1

SS - 112

Normal gamer(s) - Chrome Soft, B330 or Prov1/v1x (in that order)

Feel is similar to the B330. Solid off the tee (a bit longer than the Chrome Soft, similar to Prov1) and very straight. Problem for me was irons into greens. They took a big hop, checked and released. Hit a very solid 9 iron that ended up about 15 feet in front of its pitch mark. Hit an 8 iron a bit thin that ended up about 30 feet in front of its pitch mark. I'm not a high-spin player with my irons, but can most always stop a 9 or 8 iron within a foot or three of its mark with the above mentioned balls. I did hit a full 58 with the Ksig that I was able to back up a foot or two.

That said, it's very durable and the price can't be beat, and as by the previous comments, this is certainly a winner for most. A no brainer to at least give a try.

Now, Costco's customers dont have to pay $40+ for a dozen golf balls. Titleist's will. They both charge what their target market will pay.

fyp.

Maybe the converts can donate the 40$ per dozen savings to charity or something.

Have played eight rounds with the K-sigs now. My last round I alternated between K-sigs and Provs.

Went to Costco and doubled up my K-sig supply to 50doz. I play some tight courses so that won't last me as long as you'd think.

600 balls??

His home course must have "environmentally sensitive" hazards or water on every hole

Heck at Costco you can get cases of wine with the savings...or 900 pounds of Coffeemate.
