Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

I played with the Kirkland Signature today and they're are awesome. Feels like a Pro V1 but they go farther.

This was my experience this morning as well. Love the ball. Pretty much a duplicate in feel to the ProV1. Hit some monster drives today.

Just order them on line. The delivered mine in 2 days. Don't need to be a member to buy on line either.

Must have missed it in the thread, but can any comment as to short game performance compared to ProV1 or other premiums? Is it a drop and stop or a drop, check, release?

I have about 4 rounds on the books with the K-Sig. If you took the label of all of the tour balls and did a blind study, nobody could tell the difference. All the feel and spin anybody would ever need. I have been pimping the MG Tour on here for a long time. At $20 a dozen it was the greatest golf ball deal on the planet. K-Sig now takes the mantle.

To me, the ProV1 and MG Tour feel just a smidgen "softer", but not by much, although my playing partners don't necessarily agree. It will depend on individual feel.

Golfer's are snooty when it comes to equipment so I am not sure how much of a dent this ball will put into the big guys market share, but Costco has a ton of reach that the MG Tour brand does not. For us ball hoarders it almost too good to be true.

Genius move by Costco.

Cliff notes:

Kirkland Signatures aka Ksigs are a premium urethane ball that is competing with all the other premium balls. Feels like pro v, tour plat, etc... to some...others pro v1x, b330, tour black etc.... harder than project a, very nearly identical to snell, mg and vice balls.

everyone is getting then buy one dozen get one free :cheesy: (they come as a 2dz pack for 29.99). no longer has free shipping online

some report more distance, some less...but it's negligible (5yds) most say it holds the line well, even in winds, but some have had different experiences. mostly stop and one hop some are seeing some roll...all agree it's a GREAT BALL for the $$$.

Acts just like any premium tour ball. I am sure there is some slight variation between tour balls based on your personal shot making characteristics, but this thing is the real deal.

Got to chip and putt today with a few half wedge shots thrown in. If I had to compare it to a ball in short game feel, I have to say it feels like the original Penta but with a little more spin. The penta was my favorite ball, so I may have found a new fav!!!

$30/2dozen? I bet the price will go up to $35 in no time. This is a nice deal. Volvik makes a really nice ball. Also remember, Acushnet is owned by a Korean company so maybe they're making a ball similar to prov in Korea??!!?. that'd be a killer.

I believe he said 30 for 2 dozen. Great deal for a urethane ball

Yep....$30 bucks for a box of 24 balls...

So, I love the balls... but as I stated earlier I had some questions, inconsistency of flight off the driver which could have been me, but I had been getting some interesting flights off of my driver which typically launches mid-high with low spin... And putting and chipping, the feel of the ball was nice but something was just funny with the way the ball released off wedge chips and my distance control off the putter while ok, just felt off.. I definitely felt like the ball had a certain personality or something that you had to learn the nuances of... Off of high spinning shots (which would stabilize the ball and lessen the effects of weight imbalances) the ball rocks.

Right now, as I type, I'm floating some balls... I have 2 new sleeves of Pro v1x's that, except for 1 ball, are consistently out of balance.. same black dots rising to the top again and again..

The Kirks are also consistently out of balance but more substantially so... the rotation gets to the black dot time and time again noticeably faster...

Today on course I played 9 and had much more consistent flight off the tee and roll off the putter and I seamed every shot I could... It did seem to help... There were a few shots, one hybrid in particular that launched much lower than typical and went a long long way and I started questioning the consistency of construction and thus decided to buy some mag sulfate and soak some balls.

Pretty much everything I put in the bucket is out of balance to a consistent axis however I can say with certainty that the sleeves of Kirks I floated were in fact more out of balance than the v1x's...

I love the ball, but I knew something was off a bit... Now that I know, and have the ball marked I will see if I can alleviate the low spin flight issues and, to whatever extent it effects, the roll off the putter.

I know I'm gonna get the guys saying there's no way I felt a difference... But, I did... just like I felt the 1 tape wrap missing under the grip of my 5 iron 4 mos. ago when I had my grips changed... What can I say, I'm a freaky judge of golf equipment... And fine whiskeys...

Got my ksigs today in the mail. I have been gaming latest and greatest Titleists for over 25 years now, without exception. My regular guys can't make it tomorrow, so I am going to play a match tomorrow for 9 holes. Ksig against Prov1x.

Will report back how it goes.

The post above me is interesting, will be hitting a few extra shots as well.

After reading the comments here and on several other sites, I ordered some. $2.99 shipping plus tax for a total of $34.96.

Figured the $2.99 shipping was well worth it rather than trying to hunt them down at the various Costco stores here in Michigan.

Hopefully the weather in Michigan gives me a chance to try them out vs the TM Lethal Practice that I usually play from the $9.00 Woot deal a few years ago.

Just got GolfWRX email (10 minutes ago) about these balls. Went Costco web site and guess what? $30/doz. and shipping charges apply. So some late news but not necessarily bad news. $30 for 4 piece balls compatible with ProV's--still a good bargain. Probably won't order 5 dozen for winter play though.

.m.

It's still for 2 dozen (24 balls). Shipping is an additional $3 per "pack".

Just ordered a pack online with some barrels of Snyder's pretzel snaps because Snyder's pretzels are awesome. I'll be taking these (not the pretzels) to Florida with me in a couple weeks to test against the "TEST" proV1x and B330.

To add some fuel to the fire, the review is up:

http://www.golfballtest.org/category/reviews/

SPOILER:

Summary

Golfers looking for a “tour ball” should strongly consider the 2016 Kirkland Signature golf ball as they perform consistently across all ball speeds in delivering distance and spin performance comparable to other leading golf balls. Distance is a function of ball speed and the other two elements in concert and both models optimize across all ball speeds well. Add to this the value element in getting 2 dozen golf balls for $29.99 and this golf ball should appeal to golfers of all types looking for a softer performance-focused golf ball.

You should probably take some pretzels too, make for a good road trip or in flight snack!

Good idea. I hate airplane food so this would be a nice snack.

I wish they would post #s and stuff. This article was just so generalized. I eagerly await the MGS review/test against ProV

For a couple of weeks now I've been playing both the KSig and ProV1x during my rounds. Other than I think the Titleist is a much prettier ball to look at, my skill level isn't good enough to notice any difference. Better golfers may notice some drop in performance, but I think you would have to be pretty elite which I am for sure not.

I checked the store yesterday and they haven't showed up yet which is a little surprising as we are year-round golf here.

BTW- I went to the warehouse right after playing and before lunch so I was mega hungry. Lucky for me it was one of the days where there were sample stations on almost every isle. Boom! Free lunch. I didn't have room for a hot dog.
