I haven't met Monte or seen him play, how aggressive is he?

I'd say moderate. Hits driver more than most would in some situations but knows when he needs to dial it back.

I thought these were great videos documenting his 2 rounds at the Long Beach Open this year:

Driver: Callaway Paradym 8* (draw, std) - GD ADXC 7x

3 wood: Taylormade SIM 15* - GD ADDI 7x

5 wood: Ping G30 18* - Diamana Blue 83x

Irons: 3-5 Taylormade 2014 TP MC (2* weak);  6-PW Taylormade 2014 TP MB (1* weak) - Project X 6.5

SW: Scratch 54* bent to 53* - Ctaper 130x

LW: Scratch 58* bent to 59* - Ctaper 130x

Putter: Modified Odyssey 7 w/ welded long slant

Only six shots back from top 30 currently with 59 holes left to play. Plenty of time left, just can't give any more away on a rough day.

Hoping it's more "Tour Dream" jitters instead of the course being a poor fit for his game.

^^ love the Vlogs. Those greens look KILLER.

Also, I've never played a course used for a PGA event, but that rough looked in baddddd shape.

While the course did look rough, the LB Open isn't an official event on any tour.

I am not going to describe the round because it would come off whiny and excusy.

I will just say I did not play nearly as poorly as the score. As a matter of fact, I was fairly decent and not any worse than I was last week.

My inability to hit 3 wood and have a club that goes 280 killed me.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

I see. Greens seems pretty solid though. Tough but in good shape.

Tough one for Monte today. At least he gets to drive a sweet 'Vette ???

Bummer about the score today. Hopefully tomorrow your score reflects your play a little better.

Go to the golf store and get a 3 wood you can hit or driving iron or high lofted Mini. Get something in play, you can do this

Callaway Paradym TD Ventus 6S Black Velocore
TM Sim2 3 wood Tour AD DI 7x
TM Sim 5 wood Ventus Blue Velocore 8x
Mizuno JPX 923 Modus 120x
Odyssey Stroke Lab Double Wide
Vokeys SM9 56,60

Ok, a brief summary.

I hit driver 300+ and never know when it's going 330-340.

I hit my driving iron 240-250.

I have never been good with woods and hybrids and do not feel confident pulling them out.

Many of the holes on this course require a 280-290 yard tee shot. 250 makes the hole play too hard and 320 brings trouble into play.

I was even through 7 and coming off a birdie on 16.

17 was a perfect driving iron in both practice rounds. Big dogleg left around a lake with a lake through the fairway. Today, wind was howling and it was questionable if could carry water if I missed driving iron and I would not if I tugged it.

Hit driver, blocked it some (not a terrible shot) and went through fairway into water. Something similar happened on two other holes.

I hit 12 greens. I hit over some greens misjudging wind.

I putted horribly. Mostly misjudged speed and grain at the hole. I 3-putted my first hole for par and missed 9 additional putts in the 4-12 foot range.

Add in a Ball on a tree root for an unplayable, a pulled driving iron into a hazard, 3 drivers that landed dry and bounced into a hazard because they went through the fairway...and one awful drive.

That's how you shoot 82.

I have similar issues with 3w and hybrids monte. I swing about 116-118 and I found a 5w that works great for the in between tee shots. Goes 250 for me which I'm sure would be 275 for you. Looking down at all that loft inspires confidence for me where as a 3w or hybrid look like flat pieces of metal to my eye.

Good luck the next few days. An epic comeback would be legendary!

I thought driver off your knees was your 280 club?

That would be legendary! But he does have a point. It's only dumb if it doesn't work.

I was joking but Monte hits it pretty dang far from his knees.

Keep grinding Monte! The ball will start bouncing in your favor.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Bought a aero burner mini 12* and put my 3 wood shaft in it.

Gamer tomorrow.

I have been a bad influence and made Schnee cynical. This was his bad influence on me. Club whorism.

Not sure why you have fear with the 3 wood; you stripe everything else. I can see a low, punchy cut with a 3 wood making a guy who hits it as far as you even deadlier.

You know how to post a low number. Good luck!
