New SM7's

After hitting the different grinds, I only wish they offered a D grind in the 56. Love the D in 60.

^^^ This x10...

I have considered getting a black SM6 56F, stripping it, and breaking out some files in an attempt to make my own. However, it appears visually that the sole isn't quite as wide on the 56F as it is on the 58D.

Vokey has a high bounce M grind but only available in 60. Curious how the V grind would preform compared to the D grind. We can get a V in 56.

OD go with the 60D and try the S for the 56. You don't flop the 56 do you?

Hey buddy, I open and close the 56 depending on the shot, the S grind isn't versatile enough for me. And no, I don't flop a 56 :) Thats my 60

gotch.... I went S because my 56 is usually a square face club only... Full shots and partial shots with the square face. The 60 will be a workhorse this year

I played the 60M in SM6 but the new D grind is amazing, have you tried it? I can open and close it, much easier to flop for me.

tried it yesterday - It played similar to M for me. Playing at a new club with super tight fairways and I've become super shallow with wedges so i figured M was work better....

So if I wanted to order the Black Onyx Tour Issue shafts in these wedges, what flex should I go with? I've been playing the "wedge flex" in my wedges for years. Currently have the 6.0's in my irons, considering getting something stiffer as X flex in my woods have been great. From what I understand the PX 6.0 cpm between the S300's and X100's.

Best wedge shaft I’ve played is the KBS 610 Wedge 125 (S+). Tried others, but when i found this one, it stayed in the bag.

Just out of curiosity (maybe I missed this somewhere else) what sort of shafts do you play in your other irons? I am in X100's in my irons and wondering how the 610's fare in comparison to those or S400's.

Went to the range earlier, and hit 65 balls with this wedge. I thought I’d show you how the black finish held up. Wet mat, with not particularly clean Srixon range balls:

This is the club after hitting:

This is it after giving it a wash:

I would say that the finish held up remarkably well.

Just keep it away from sand. The great thing about that finish is that when it does start to wear you can strip it with some CLR.

I went raw and gosh they look nice. I decided to go D grind in my 60 instead of M and wow what a difference. On full shots my distance is almost 10 yards shorter than the M grind. It's almost as if the harder you swing, the more it just wants to bounce off the turf and the ball doesn't travel any further. Chipping however it's a god send. If you are a mediocre chipper of the ball, the D grind will make you look amazing. I holed two chips with my first ten shots. It's clips the ball right off the turf and doesn't dig at all. On flops from the rough, it's still easy to open up and performs great.

Any K grind users that can give their thoughts on the grind?

I went 58K in SM7, the National Centre fitting came down to the K or D in 58, as I don’t tend to open up the face I went for the K. Could of gamed either, but the K is a confidence builder, so easy to hit.

Ive had S grind in the SM4 and M grind in the SM5 both in 58s.

For me and my steep AoA, can’t believe I never tried K grind sooner. Since the fitting I have practiced on tight lies, and the K grind has performed excellently.

Looking at getting a couple SM7s in 52 and 56. Dont remember what grinds I have on my SM5s, but will probably do something similar. 56 is the highest lofted wedge I play, just open it up if I need more loft.

What is the advantage of the raw vs any of the finishes? I know raw will rust, do you want it to rust? or do you clean it/dry it often so it doesnt? I think I'm liking the brushed steel finish as of now but am curious the advantages to ordering raw.

From players with whom I've spoken, the brushed steel will wear more quickly. If you want durability, Tour Chrome. The Raw is great and they put some type of durability finish on the grooves to make them endure. But starting at $195.

Went ahead with the 52, 56, 60 in Jet Black with S400 Tour Issue Black Onyx Shafts. Couldn't pass up the deal my club sold them to me at. Basically got the shaft up-charge for free. Once they start to wear a bit I am definitely going to strip them to raw.

I ended up with the 52F, 56F and 60K to go along with the SM6 46F that is staying and everything in Tour Chrome. Noticeable different between SM6 and SM7 Chrome...however, I haven't had a chance to play yet.

Can anyone chime in on the "glare factor" of the SM7? From what I've read and saw....it's almost totally eliminated and way better than the SM6.

Got fit today and ended up ordering 54S and 58D. I went with the chrome as well. It’s been a while since I just got the standard. They don’t look as good as the other 2 new but I think they look classic and I don’t want to deal with having to strip off a finish like I would eventually do with the jet black. It was a sunny day and it had far less glare than the brushed steel.

Read through the last few pages hoping to come across some info that would help me out here but with no success. I have the RTX 3 and love the v sole but have a 56 that could be replaced(doesn't need to be but I love me some fresh wedges). Is the D grind similar to a V grind at all? Whether in the actual grind or performance. I saw a picture of the D on here and it looked kind of similar but hard to tell.

It's supposed to be closer to a high bounce M than a V. The difference is probably too small to warrant the massive price difference though!
