This Guy with 80 aces

Recommended Posts

Guy is a 20 handicap. There is absolutely no friggin way this is true.

Below is a quote from him from another article:

DeCando got to celebrate his first hole in one at the tender age of 58.

It may have taken a while, but apparently DeCando has been intent on making up for lost time.

"Lucky? Yes," DeCando said. "Initially it was a lot of luck, but after a while – when you have two, three, four holes in one – you start to get a little more aggressive, so maybe it's a combination of things.

"You know, golf is funny. Elbow in, elbow out. Turn your hips, don't turn your hips. Shoulders up, shoulders out. You start to find what works and before you know it, I was starting to aim a little better."

That "aim" has resulted in a string of single-shot successes that borders on ridiculousness if not downright absurdity.

I'm super pumped that I finally know how to get hole-in-ones now! Just be aggressive and aim better. I figure I should get at least 10 next year ...

Fascinating that this guy went to such trouble to create this whole thing, registering them on the web site, documenting them so thoroughly, etc. I guess he's pretty desperate for some attention.

It also reminds me of the European Tour player they had hit shots into a par 3 for hours and he didn't make any aces. This guy would have sunk a couple for sure, right?

Yep. Eduardo Molinari. Molinari definitely failed big time, he should just watch this guy's how-to hole-in-one GC video and get some pointers.

Did any swing coach come up and tell him to be aggressive and AIM better?

I'm pretty sure he left that up to his brother, Francesco. Francesco obviously has seen this guy's video.

Mr. DeCando lives in Bergen County, NJ where they used to have a HIO registry site which has since been shut down. Back in late 2015, he had a 4 week period where he made 10 HIO's including a run where he made an ace 3 days in a row. First of all, the fact he's not on GolfWRX shocks me. But I actually think this is possible and here's how it happened. He was playing a match with his best friend who conceded the hole whilst standing on the tee box prior to Mr. DeCando making a swing. I've always wanted to use whilst in a sentence...it sounds so European. Any how, his score based on that concession would be a 1 on the hole, ergo, he made an ace.

My father has 11, and we're talking a better than scratch golfer for 40 years. His buddy is a BETTER player, same age, never had one. Hits it at the flag all the time, which FEW actually do more than once a round (most of THEM are well short). While HIO's do take some skill to get the ball headed at the green, it's LUCK to get the right bounce, speed, and roll.

A guy that plays only occasionally in our little circle played 4 rounds this year, aced a 220 yard par-3 with a skulled hybrid......Go FIGURE!!.....

After watching the clip on him, he came across as a lying dipstick. I love the shot of him carrying a single strap CART bag, something like the one below, as he exited the scene through a tunnel.

Oh come on! Doesn't a HIO need 2 witnesses to be counted as official?

I don't believe him

I've had one in 36 years of golfing. It was 5 years ago. Last 10 years I've played 90-120 rounds a year

Sounds like he has a scam to get the ball in the hole in advance

Reminds me of the 8 clowns that got away with 13 cars in the HIO shootouts before they got caught

Isn't it usually a bunch of clowns in fewer cars?

Well, not hard to figure out my heritage a generation removed - I honestly thought this said 80 "acres" and thought what the heck I better see what that is about. Not even into the dead of winter yet.

ha ha, as did I.

And I prolly told you this about the same time last year, nice avatar.

Well it smells like bullsh*t for sure. Aces require not only good swings (usually!) and a little luck. I've never had one and like many here I'm sure have had near misses of many possible kinds. There are Tour players who play off +6 or better who you find out have had maybe 12-15 aces total (competitve and non). So its hard to fathom that many from anyone. I would never say never but color me skeptical.

Ill say it for you. ;)

Haha I did too. I kept reading it as "acres" the first two times I read the post and was confused as heck. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I love how there are "witnesses" that never saw the ball go in

This guy has a wire disconnected in his brain. He may be related to JonesScott, HomBomb and that cat that had two aces (one an albatross IIRC) and an eagle shooting 56 or 57 a little while back

Reminiscent of Jackie Gagne too. That was probably 10 years ago. I think she claimed to have made like 15-20 in a year. Even got free stuff from OEM's.

Golf digest I think it was researched and there was never a witness that ever saw a ball go in the hole.

This is an even bigger joke.
