Too funny at the saltiness and unsubbing remarks in here...some of you need to get over yourselves.

In a lot of ways I find most club reviews on line fairly pointless. They often just repeat what is available from the company’s media releases and website (and get it wrong) and then hit balls and tell you the numbers.

They might share opinions about feel, look etc but that is such a personal thing that I can’t see how it is useful to an individual.

They only thing I like about them are the close up images/videos of the clubs for when I am not able to see them in person immediately.

And there are so many muppets doing them now. Some of them are absolutely awful! I wouldn’t blame Crossfield if he moved away from doing them but they attract viewers so it would be a slightly risky move.

Crossfield is a troll who doesn’t respond well to being trolled. Funny that.

OEMs were never obliged to send him anything for free to review. Why would they now that he has signed with one of them?

Because they get access to Crossfields 230k viewers for the cost of a driver or set of irons. That is a pretty good deal.

It’s a good deal when the review is positive, and an awful deal when the review is negative.

I have often wondered whether the sniping from Crossfield about release cycles and marketing has hurt TM more than it’s helped.

TM still cop a royal pasting for their release cycles and marketing when Callaway have been the worst offenders for the last few years.

On this site - yes. Don’t recall Crossfield being as critical of Callaway on this even though they have carried on with the strategy after TM stopped

He does come across as little dumb at times with his anti tech diatribe at times. His comments about shafts not making that much difference is just plain wrong. A different shaft can dramatically change the playing characteristics of a club. Back in the bad old days of the late 90s and early 00s swapping out stock shafts for aftermarket shafts was night and day, and Crossfield is old enough to remember those days.

At least Shiels uses clubs in gear and specs he was fitted when he does head to head comparisons, not whatever comes out of the box

How do you know what spec a new all singing all dancing club should be set to if it’s never been hit by the reviewer before ? Surely if clubs and shafts are all as different as some say they are, then a individual custom fit would be necessary for every club that gets tested

I'm talking the head to head comparisons. Shiels often comments that he has been fitted for the clubs in the head to heads he does, to give an apples to apples comparison.

If they sell 10 sets of irons or a few drivers it’s a win for TM...the reverse is stupid though, why close yourself off to 230k golfers and I’m sure a lot more lurkers? It’s not a winning strategy for a business. TM loves to screw the pooch so to speak.

How often do you see bad reviews? It is in the youtubers interest to never be overly harsh. These companies are giving them free content. The most negative I hear is "it doesn't appeal to my eye" or "it makes a different sound" - basically "its all subjective guys go out and give them a hit for yourself".

I see Rick Shiels' tests where he hits drivers from the last 5 years as far more negative than any club reviews you are likely to see. It implies that despite the manufacturers claims, the club tech really isn't as revolutionary as people might expect (something Mark has been talking about for years).

I just don't see, with the body of work (in terms of reviews), we have from these youtubers why you wouldn't continue sending clubs to Mark. It is cheap brand awareness and advertising for them.

There you go. I agree with this whole heartedly. 5 years of drivers with minimal gains is a bit more detrimental.

14 pages on this? I personally like his older content better than his stuff from the past 2 years. He's a bit full of himself since his popularity has grown but I see

that with others on YouTube as well.

Really, how hard will it be for him to get a TM demo if he really wants to? I can't imagine it would be that difficult... Kind of makes me wonder how much TM believes in their own product by snubbing him. I would think they would be bigger than this.

Yeah, I just watched it... I didn't get that impression at all. He said it, at the end of the day he's going to review their stuff anyway. He will pay to demo it... If he was really as hurt as claims say, I think he'd just stay away. The meetings with TM guys being pushy about him playing their ball and whatever else does sound like they are missing the point. I also agree after listening to him that TM message should be questioned, it seems to be all or nothing with them. Like he said, Titleist is ok with him bagging NON Titleist clubs, stuff that he was already using... it just seems like TM wants nothing but good things said and don't even trust their own product enough for some reason, it's odd. But at the end of the day, it is their decision to do what they want with their demos and run their business how they please. Mark can be butthurt if he chooses to be, I just don't think that was the message here, but I could be wrong.

He seems like an honest straight shooter to me, again, TO ME. I thought the video was informative and interesting, while also sticking to the real point that he's going to continue doing honest unbiased reviews. I still think he deserves the chance to prove this, just like any others would.

I watched until the end...and I think TM have dropped a massive clanger. As the only OEM to take this stance, it does highlight how naive and behind the times their marketing department and policy is. As a marketing-led company it doesn’t bode well for the future...I don’t see that many TM clubs around as it is...people have started to see through them I’m guessing.

He might be annoying but what he says is true. If TM's R&D had to have the concept of a low spinning player using a lower spinning ball explained to them then they shouldn't be in R&D. That is a scary thought. At the end of the day TM have embarassed themselves quite a few times in the last 12 months with Mark and numerous club pros so where there's smoke there's fire. It's a poor show again from them.
