They would only need to accelerate one product cycle to spring, then continue on with the 2 year product cycle. So one product launch would have to be moved up 6 months. The hardest part would be getting the marketing ready in time, not so much the product. The product is ready now. Even if the get on tour in spring for validation, and related in May - June time frame, I would believe their sales would be stronger. Again just my opinion.

Yea I complained about it to titleist years ago and asked them why, that was the reason they provided

Marketing having to move up their schedule for 1 release seems perfectly manageable.

i wonder if they will go with Cabon Fiber.

Would love a driver with a Carbon crown and a more traditional sound

Hard to make a traditional sound with carbon in the head. I don't see them going that route either.

You must not deal with marketing much... haha. but yeah, it seems that if the higher ups decided to move the launch ahead of the spring season they could get it done.

I like Ping because they have not gone to carbon fiber. Not the only way to make a great driver. Drivers definitely perform with carbon fiber, but so does a steel/titanium construction.

They should make 2 drivers. Both like the 2016 m2. One 460. One 440. Simple. Powerful. Results.

Been gaming the 915 D4 for over a season and it was the best driver I've owned in 20 years. But just switched the adapter and put a 2016 M2 head on the same shaft and this set-up crushes the D4 and 917's I tested.

The M2 gives more ballspeed, more carry, less spin, better sound/feel and is way easier to hit a draw with.

My bag is all Titleist and has been for years, but the 2016 M2 is plain legit.

Justin Thomas posted a pic of himself with some Alabama guys on social media for their celeb event and it looks like he had a driver that had a different face design than a 917 (to my eye). It does make sense that if this is the new stick, he'd be trying it on course in a low-key event like this. Check it out:

Definitely looks similar. Maybe Cally made the new world #1 an offer he couldn't refuse? That is a rumor for a different thread though :beruo:

im not sure why he would other than for fun try another brand , that 917 has gotten him many wins and now we simpson as well, i perfectly content with my 917

I am, too - amazed by the performance. I can tee it a little lower and get a penetrating flight into the wind that'll roll forever, but the real treat for me is the lack of real effect on the ball in a crosswind (at least compared to the 915). I'm hitting more fairways and averaging longer than I have in the last 10 years.

I don't think anyone's saying it's a 917.

It's possible that what we're seeing here is the next Titleist driver, at least a proto version, as part of their R&D team seeking player feedback and making final tweaks towards the release of the new 919 product. To that end I would take face markings and such with a pinch of salt in terms of trying to pin it to something currently on the market.

Titleist test new gear with tour staff prior to publicly putting new clubs in their hands (aka the marketing event that the regular Congressional CC tour stop is/was). And this would fit the mould of that - a few months out from the release, a key player on staff, in a week off, at a relatively low-key event compared to the tour - has the makings of a decent feedback opportunity.

What's interesting is the neck sleeve looks very similar to a SureFit hosel.

So it either could be a 919 proto, or could also potentially be a Cally - whose neck sleeve has quite closely emulated SureFit.

may a put a question in this titleist thread?

if i put my titleist driver/wood from A1 into A4 (+1,5° Loft), will that open or close the face? or won't it change at all?

thanks for helping

According to the Titleist chart, you going from A1 to A4 does nothing to the face, it just increases loft. If you were to go to B3 or A3, it would close the face.

Excited to see what Titleist puts out this year, didn't really like what they did with the 917 and the odd weight in the head. It wasn't parallel, and didn't seem to help much with anything unless you went to lighter/heavier weights. Didn't like the protruding end to it either, just didn't look as good as 915 and 913. Always gave me the feeling that the face was closed because of how that thing came out of the bottom.

Adding loft closes the face. Reducing loft opens it.

All assumptions would point to a 919 model name with a 9/19 release, however I received recent information to expect.... wait for it....

Something new and different than Titleist has ever done including a departure from the 91# model name. Won’t know until it’s leaked if that’s accurate or not, but sources were very reliable.

With regard to how Titleist drivers stack up against the competition, here’s the explanation I received. Many other OEMs have developed their drivers purely based on distance and ball speeds, have measured lofts lower than stated loft, and more internal draw bias by design. Titleist has always developed with total performance in mind with ball speed, launch, spin, looks, sound, & feel. They also stated that Titleist lofts are measured to be at stated loft or slightly higher by tolerance standards. So head to head stock setups another OEM may produce more optimal launch conditions, however using the SureFit CG and Hosel to adjust, Titleist can meet or beat it, with better looks, sound, & feel. That said, they’ve heard the consumers and developed the next line to compete with head to head ball speeds with anyone out there, while still maintaining their total performance philosophy.

All drivers are built to USGA max allowances and so much anymore is player preference. I’m looking forward to seeing what Titleist comes out with next. It’ll be interesting to see how outside their ‘traditional’ box they go with their new release.

That picture was taken when he was in Birmingham for Smiley Kaufman's wedding. The simple explanation is that he borrowed a set of clubs to play a fun round, because he didn't bring his own.

Seems to be from a more recent trip, plus that's his gamer shaft and grip. Seems unlikely he borrowed a set of clubs for this round that just happened to have a BF with tour velvet cord.

This just happened. Definitely doesnt look like anything else on the market currently. Can clearly see the Surefit CG port. Also, as stated in this thread previously, looks like a different model number than 919 on the sole (?Looks like 75D?).

Actually that picture was taken over this past weekend when he was in Tuscaloosa for the UA Celebrity Golf charity event. That driver even has his Diamana BF in it. To me, that doesn't look like a Rogue. The white lines on the face appear to be a bit longer than a Rogue. Just my opinion though.

How the Titleist surefit hosel resembles the Callaway hosel is beyond me. A-D and 1-4 adjustments on Titleist hosel with no alignment dot. Callaway adjusts +2 to -1 and N,S,D and has a dot that must be aligned for adjustment. Only similarity is 2 cogs...

i think the poster that mentioned this was probably speaking about the picture, comments suggesting it looked like a Rogue SZ, and how the size/ shape of the two adapters are similar... which they are
