Sorry, this thread is a few months old, but just wondering if anyone else has played these irons or if there are any updates in thoughts about them to share.

I’m building a set myself right now during the quarantine shutdown. Waiting on some leather grips to be made, so I should have them hopefully 2 weeks and then I’ll get everything put together. Only downside is, I have nowhere to play or practice!

I will say though the heads look very very nice!

currently playing the tour b xcb and they feel incredibly soft and solid. I would love to get my hands on a set of these guys as well at some point. Anyone who currently has a set of these could you please post some pics from address? Would love to see how these transition somewhat. Appreciate it.

So much wrx love for the J15CB, but I like these better. The muscle pad gives them a bit more pop and the head shape is super.

You have to remember that Bridgestone is first and foremost a rubber company. The ball is much more “in their lane”. Their ball is really really good. So it makes sense to me that they ditch the irons and woods and woods and focus on what they are good at. Rubber compounds.

Agreed - they do well in Japan, but as Honma has demonstrated, it takes a massive investment to really even attempt to crack in with the US market with the established OEMs, and success isn’t guaranteed if you spend $X.

Their ball sells well and they have Tiger, but clubs are a different beast. I think before they were content with basically zero marketing on their US clubs and having a very niche spot in the market, getting whatever sliver they could. Eventually though, leadership change at the top (not a golf guy) and they likely decided if it’s not a revenue generator or big profit center (like the balls), they are willing to abandon it.

On another note, I’ll try to throw up some pics of the dry fit at some point this week when I get around to my build.

It might be similar to yesteryear getting anything Tourstage.

Completely agree with this. The Tour B X CB irons are an absolutely fantastic iron.

im with you @need2golf ! I’ve said the same thing before - Bridgestone, let me run your commercial strategy and ops for clubs - give me budget and get out of the way, and I’d deliver results. Not saying it would make a dent in TM or any of the other big boys, but at the very least there would be good enough ROI to keep it going in the US. Just a real shame because they make an excellent product.

I don't know why people think it's easy. They tried and failed. I like their clubs, and have played the JDM versions way back in the day. Looks like they are on a 2 year cycle on clubs in Japan still. Hope we will still see a new cycle soon. However, it's kinda odd since they released the JGR drivers 3 years apart (2016 and 2019). They've really changed from their heyday. And yes, they are a huge company and golf equipment doesn't mean much to them, but still with their resources could have done better, but it just wasn't very profitable.

Right now in the US, you’d likely have to work through Tourspec. Otherwise, Japan.

Out of the middle they are just as soft and feel more dense. Mishits feel a little more harsh than the J15 CB which is a love or hate thing. I didn't like that the J15 CB felt extremely soft across the whole face, essentially masking the feel of a mishit moreso than other irons. The tradeoff is that the Tour B X CB feels better out of the middle. Forgiveness is MAYBE a touch better with the J15 CB, but the short irons are much more compact and thus, to me, better looking with the Tour B X CB.

Soles appear to be quite wide. Is that actually the case? Any lead edge relief like the J15cb?

Very well said @IL2AZ The biggest reason I went tour B was the footprint was a little smaller than j15 and center strikes feel as good as anything I’ve ever hit.
