They had Justin James out there awhile ago to do cut the whole thing. I think they did something similar with Daly a few years before that.

I was going to say, depending on the tee being used and the wind, there is an excellent chance Cam could hit the green going straight at it.

What is a holeout on a par 5 called?? Triple eagle?

I was out there today and I'm glad I followed Phil's group. Where did that distance come from? I remember feeling sorry for him a few years ago at Doral when he was straining for everything he had but simply no longer a match for the young bombers. It was particularly evident on that Doral par 5 12th. Then today on #4 I'm looking at his ball perhaps 40 yards past Koepka on a par 5, and Koepka's drive looked like a blast from the tee box. Nice high soft cut.

Phil basically didn't miss anything on the greens today. That's another change. I kept expecting him to lip out, like on the slider bogey putt on #3 after being forced to chip out from his drive. Nope...it held just inside the low edge.

I can't take DeChambeau. Let's just say I would never follow him as feature. Not only mechanical and slow but no warmth to the gallery. He had several opportunities, like when wild right on #5 and forced to play a high lob. Spectators gave him the opportunity but he was mesmerized by his own shot and merely walked forward.

Contrast to Phil a couple of holes later. He missed the green slightly right on the par 3 7th and had a short chip out of gnarly rough. When Phil approached a spectator called out to him, "We came for a chip in." But a nearby lady wasn't going to allow that to stand. She yelled out, "We came for a kiss."

Phil hesitated for only seconds. He turned to her and motioned to the man alongside her: "Sir, can you take care of that for her?"

The gallery erupted in laughter. I always have to laugh at the morons here and elsewhere who try to insist that Phil is a phony.

Koepka is really boring to watch. Nice solid game but nothing stands out. He rightfully complained about not getting enough recognition for his two US Open wins but I hope he understands it will continue, virtually no matter what he does.

The only standout was his girlfriend or wife. I assume that was her following the group and wearing a tight purple dress. That is a tour wife butt.

I have to say this tournament is much more corporate now than when I last attended, during Arnie's final year of 2016. The walk to the shuttle bus from the 18th fairway is now directed through a merchandise building instead of a simple stroll through grass. Etc. and etc. Previously Bay Hill nicely differentiated from Honda but now it looks like desperation to squeeze from every direction and every hole, just like Honda. There are grandstands everywhere, including on the par 3 14th which used to be one of the great locations on the course to circle the green and stand/sit almost alongside the players, hearing everything. Now that is totally gone, in favor of multiple grandstands on the left side. They won't even allow spectators to stand alongside that green any more yet there is no warning about that. I walked down the right side after leaving the 13th green, just like previously. At least 100 other spectators did the same among Phil's group. Not until we were nearly to the green was it obvious that we were cut off and had to retreat and cross the fairway near the tee box. What a joke. It reminds me of some of the spectator rerouting changes made during the final years of Doral.

I kept thinking that if Arnie wanted it this way, those changes would have been there during his lifespan.

Phil is getting old, and when golfers gets older, they get chummier. He was no favourite of mine in the 90's but he is now. Even Monty is said to be decent to crowds nowadays. When DeChateau gets 45 he will be a cozy gentleman with a stomach, beard and still that hat on.

I went to the BMW two years ago when it was in Lake Forest, IL. Walked the course with the early groups and picked our spot for when the leaders tee'd off. Spoke with a lot of volunteers during their down time between groups and I think you'd be surprised that a lot of these guys are not all friendly, lets go over to the crowd and talk. I think with social media and interacting with a lot of pros online, them interacting with the public on social media platforms gives people the understanding that they're going to be on the course being just as social.

I think we can easily forget that this is their job, this is how they make a living and while the crowd and the fans help that living, it is still their job. Few of the volunteers said who is friendly and who is not. One mentioned that unless you are a kid and the timing is right, Rickie is actually very head down, focused on his game. Which surprised me a little, so while I am not the biggest BAD fan, I am not going to fault him for not wanting to be friendly with a bunch of strangers walking down a course.

Tiger, majority of peoples favorite was never that guy, his interviews were very matter of the fact rather than being talky talky.

Can we pin this ^^ to the top of the Fred Couples on Feherty thread? As that thread has turned into "Fred is a dic* because he didn't ham it up with us while playing" thread.

Has the cut line moved or is it still +1?

Currently 70 players at +1 or better.

Two players still playing at +1, one of them is Rickie and he's on #18.

The other one then is Nate Lashley, correct? He’s our local kid I’m following. Really needs to cash a check this week.

Looks like he jsut dunked his tee shot on #6.

How do the members play this course without rinsing a dozen balls per round?

Does not seem like a fun course for the average golfer!

By playing like a normal person.

Less the Par 3 17th, I lay up on most of these holes where the guys are going for the water-guarded greens.

Not going to lie though, I've donated about 20 balls to each body of water on the course one time or another.

Stenson had two long putts that were within a literal whisker of going in, but hung on the hole. Great round today, maybe finally getting some form. Looking forward to tomorrow but since he won't be a featured group (at least I assume not) won't see much of him unless he's making birdies - so hope I see quite a bit!
