Sub 70 Clubs

Just got my new 939x hybrid last week and placed an order for the 659 TC irons with Steelfiber i95x shafts.  Can't wait to get on the course with them!  Only got to hit the hybrid a few times in the hitting bay before leaving for vacation and it felt incredible.  Loving that Sub70 went with the leading edge relief on these new 659's.  That was a big selling point for me.

glad you found your way over. Paintfill is one of the easiest things to do yourself. Head over to the putter forum for a HUGE amount of information including what types of paints to buy, etc.

Yeah I've seen that stuff.  I've reached a point in my life where I pay someone to mow my grass and to do paintfill 🙂

I've read only a few pages as there is so many lol, but I wanted to ask you guys in here with knowledge on these clubs. I'm still fairly a newbie to the game (entering my 2nd year) and I've tried many different irons and I've just started to look into sub 70 as I've heard there name here and there and i took a dive into their irons and I'm really interested in the 699 pro's as from what I've seen some people online say they're in the p790 kind of category which I am looking for. For the price are these really worth it?, seeing all these options on there website to customize the irons I feel like a kid in a candy shop. Haven't been able to find a set that works for me with limited components and these sound too good to be true lol

I play the 639 CBs. I'm a club ho. I can't tell you how many irons sets I have owned over the past ten years. All from different OEMs.

The Sub 70 irons are excellent. I don't feel I'm giving up anything by playing them. They are the real deal and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Would you say the 699 pro is accurately compared as a player distance category with the P790's, forged tec, etc.?

As a 16 handicap I want something forgiving and also something I can play and not replace as I go lower and those 699 pro's in black are just calling my name!

I have hit the P790, Forged Tec and Mizuno 225 and I find the 699 pro to be inline with those for distance and feel. As a 699 pro player I can work them in either direction, hit them high or low depending on the shot. I can actually hit a bad shot with them too like the draw I setup for last evening that faded beautifully into the sunset and the creek 😆. Give them a try and if it doesn't work out, you can get all your money back before 60 days with no questions asked. They actually built me another set when I sent my original set back. Plus, at the cost versus the other brands there is nothing to lose.

FYI, I have the 699 pro black and the finish will get beat up which I don't mind because they are supposed to look worn but if you are OCD then you might go for the satin finish 😉.

Bought a 56 (bent to 57) 286 wedge today.  Excited to have it in the bag.  The 5 wood was getting lonely as the only Sub70 in there.

Played 9 holes in golf league last night with the 659 CBs, 949X 3W and 849D driver.  Really pleased with the purchase.  Hit 3W off most tees due to wind and shorter course.  When the swing was right, they were some of the longer 3W I've hit.  Hit the driver twice and both had a great feel, the final one left a short iron into the par 5, but the 25-30 mph wind helped.  Didn't hit a ton of different irons, but an AW from 110 was such a great feel that these are going to stay in the bag.  Tempted to add a 58* wedge and possibly the hybrid.  Definitely never been a one brand guy, I think the last set had 6 or 7 different.  Really impressed with the 659 line and can't wait to see what rolls out next, especially for us lefties!

I demo'd the 699 Pro 6i/9i and liked them. They were standard length demos which are too short for me and I ended up going with a different brand of irons, but I certainly had nothing but good things to say about the fit and finish and ballflight.

Obviously my sig shows that I've expanded to now having 5 Sub70 clubs in my bag. So I'm a fan. Great value for money and high quality product.

I’m looking to add a 7 wood to my bag. Does anyone have any experience with Sub 70’s 949x?

The 949X 4 wood is great too. At some point this year, I'll be adding a 949X 7 wood. Just need to clear out some of my old stuff first.

All I can say is get the 949x. You won’t be disappointed. If you’ve got a shaft profile you know works for you, you’ll have a rocket that feels great. I really like how the 3w sets up behind the ball as well.

Just got the 659 CBS in today. Have not taken them out yet but wanted to provide some pics. The one of 2 irons is a comparison to a T100, both 7 irons. Excited to get these out for some swings.

Finally hit these on a Simulator last night. It’s a Full Swing simulator which I have never used before. I feel like the distances are pretty accurate compared to when I have hit on a GC or Trackman. Compared 7i and PW between T100 and Sun 70. The 659 fell fantastic, they are definitely not forgiving then the T100 but I don’t feel like I lost anything. They seem a bit larger but also I think that has to do with the shape and lines being sharper. Overall, pretty similar across the board but the biggest thing I noticed was gaining distance. The loft differences to come into effect here as the 659 are about 1-2* stronger. Very happy with the purchase and the performance and will get them on the course this weekend. They remind me of my old srixon z785 which I loved.
