Sub 70 Clubs

I wonder how the 659 cb's compare to Ping's i210 irons in terms of playability? Visually they look somewhat similar.

 

I received a set of 699 pro's last week and I am very pleased. Much softer than my previous set(Sim 2's). Might be a tad shorter but not much. My misses are usually left and so far this set has help reduce that tendency. And they just look a lot better than than the Sim 2's. I went with the Aldila NV 55 graphite reg shafts and they seem to be perfect for my senior swing. Glad I took a chance on Sub 70 as they are the real deal.

Played them today on a different course than I've taken them out on just to see and...+2 74 in 15-20mph winds. Was able to flight them down and had to hit a few punch shots. Probably shouldn't have been surprised, but they performed extremely well. I do think I might end up having to move to the 659s because of the offset, but I'm going to ride them out a few more rounds before doing that. I'm really enjoying the short irons in particular. I've struggled of late with 8-GW and these have instilled some confidence I'd been missing. I've been averaging 34.1% GIR per my stats on The Grint and I hit 56% Thursday in my 9 holes and 61% today in 18. Again, I cannot explain why, but they give me a confidence I haven't had in a while.

Haven't had it on a launch monitor, but it's definitely lower spin than the VR Pro LE's I used to play. Super easy to hit, and easy to work both ways. Feels really good, too.

I'm going to sell all my extra clubs I have lying around and get the 7W.

Shout out to Cody and the entire Sub 70 team. I’m right up against the 60 day return policy, but Cody couldn’t have been more helpful to make sure that my iron set is working for me. Not only is their equipment great, but so is the first class customer service. Keep up the great work all!

Woohoo my TC irons have shipped! I purchased the 4-pw raw with the black kbs shafts and custom ferrules! Very stoked to hit these!

 

on a sad note though I had also ordered 2 wedges, a 286 50 degree and a jb 58…I saw that the full face jb wedge was now available so I asked if they could switch the 58 degree wedge out to that head and instead they cancelled both orders without asking me. Dang it

Jealous! Just got my order in for CB/TC combo in this week. I also got them in the KBS shaft I’ve used for a while and they let me ship them to them for build. Let us know how the first outing goes with them!

will do! I’ve loved my 699 pros and my taiii irons but they will have a tough time getting my apex 21s out of the bag

Every time I hit my 699 pro utilities I'm impressed more and more. Had 230 into a back pin yesterday and pulled out my 4 utility and just stepped up, hit a nice little draw 20 ft pin high. And it wasn't a perfect strike. I can't tell you how long it's been since I've been this comfortable with that 230 number. If that was my old hybrid I would have been just trying to hit the green. In addition - this 2 iron is insane. Even on slight fat hits or toe hits it goes 250 but when I bust it it goes 270. Just unbelievable performance out of these things. Seriously has me contemplating 699 pro vs 659 cb irons as the forgiveness out of these is something I've never seen before!

yeah I was baffled…as I’ve ordered 3 sets of irons, a 4 wood, utility iron, and apparel and have had ZERO issues. I asked a question and had both wedge orders cancelled lol…the irons come in tomorrow and I’ll figure out my wedges

Nothing. I’ve had Kevin and Jason and they both did an excellent job fitting me.

How would the 659 CB compare to the PXG Gen3 0311 P? I see the 659 are mildly (one deg) weaker, and look to possibly be more compact? Hard to tell In pics.  I also own the j15 cb- are these more in Line with the 659 performance wise?

That’s interesting. Does the weight take away from the performance? I have a demo coming next week. The head weight was one of my concerns.

umm I haven’t noticed that, I’m coming from a set of apex pro with i95s shafts. I will say with these my spin has dropped about 1000 revs so I’ve actually gained quite a bit of distance. I should’ve gotten x flex as my 6 iron is around 96mph.  Im just trying to get used to feeling where the club head is.
