But Koch wasn’t in front of his bathroom mirror the night before saying it to himself for effect. Koch’s was completely off the cuff. Nantz still desperately trying for his Gary Koch moment LOL.

I wouldn't know.... I didn't watch.

I think he finally realizes that he can't close himself off completely from the fans and media without making the road to double digit Majors much tougher. It had to hurt a bit after the effort he put in for 3+ days to hear his gallery chanting DJ. Even if you have ice in your veins we have an innate desire to at least be appreciated for our efforts and the fans were not showing much appreciation. I don't expect Brooks to become YJS, but based on the press conference, he does seem wiling to make a little more effort which is good for him, the fans and golf.

I don’t think he’s changed. It’s just that nobody was listening.

Varner was a class act, after his shank that resulted in a lost ball he seemed more concerned with not getting in Koepka's way than playing his own game.

I always watch the press conferences and this time Brooks was a lot more open with the media than he was in the past, but I also agree more people are probably listening now.

yeah, several of the commentators referred to that ...

Luke List, Abraham Ancer and Chez Reavie all qualify for the US Open based on world rankings ... List moved up 18 spots ...

Well. We were baseball choke artists for years and years. Our football game wasn’t strong till Brady. Celtics and bruins were always hit / miss.

Boston fans are notorious for not being classy but boy oh boy will they support you after gettin some Dunks and bringing their own beeah from the packie

But in terms of excitement Tiger and to a lesser extent Spieth or Rory are the guys people would like to watch dominate a major. Just my opinion of course, I know plenty of people who would prefer it to be close, or don't like the aforementioned people mentioned.

>

> I don't get the fanboy thing. I want to see whomever is playing the best win. Koepka is beating the **** out of the strongest field in golf on a 7400 yard par 70 monster with a slope rating of 155. If that is boring to you take up badminton or something.

When he was ahead by 5 shots I just didn't find it very exciting. It was pretty good at the end when DJ was only back by one shot, but then he stumbled and it seemed there was no way koepka would lose it. I would guess most people on here would agree that a blowout isn't as exciting as a tight match that comes down to the last hole. And like another poster said, a lot of people enjoy watching players that show their emotions a bit more. I like watching koepka and DJ play well, but it's just less exciting to me personally since they're more apathetic about it then others.

Regarding the whole badminton / gatekeeping thing I don't know what to tell you. I'm not going to tell someone to take up a different sport because they like a different player, or they aren't that interested in watching players battle it out for a second, but that's just me.

Tons of respect for him... I think the moment may have been a little too much for him... but he kept up and had a good attitude... I'll pull for him

It's not what he says, it's that he feels compelled to prepare a comment like "A Koepka coronation" in advance. He seems to believe the audience is leaning forward in their chairs with the TV volume turned up to be sure to catch his clever concluding comment. It just smacks of self aggrandizement.

Gotta beat traffic...

Every major I've attended has always had a mass exodus... it's not fun sitting in your car for 2 hours waiting to get out of the parking lot... but I do it every time

On a non-tournament note, one thing I would like to know is how come the title of this thread changed several times during the last few days?
