> Great photo gallery showing the work going into setting up a US Open. Hats off to Chris Dalhammer CGCS, and his crew fantastic looking golf course this week, heard nothing but great things so far!

Not to mention having to deal with USGA leadership! Course has been great so far but I would like a little dryer weather today. It seemed to be drying a little late yesterday.

The GC was showing a chart this morning that showed the scores/ leaders in 1992 after 36 holes then the winning score. Have faith because Armageddon can arrive at any time.

I think today is the day to see what happens with the course. I think you will see the leaders relative to the pack stay still with rounds around par. Maybe a couple under tops. The field will tighten up considerably today. I was surprised to see Ricky shoot 6 over yesterday!! So the course does have teeth if you do not pay attention.

As much as I agree with most of your post I think the Rickie part was a 4th down fumble. Really? Is it a surprise he had a meltdown? I love the guy and wish he would get a major. But how is anything he did yesterday a shock? Ok maybe the collapse should have only been 3-4 strokes. Does it really matter?

The USGA dialed it back yesterday so I am interested to see the correction for the weekend since the only things they can truly mess with are the greens at this point given the weather and moisture present on the course.

I think Tiger would disagree with your assessment that the course is playing way too easy. It's playing easy for players hitting fairways and greens. It's playing easy for guys who are putting great. It's giving up a lot of eagles to guys holing wedges, bunker shots, or chips. But guys like Tiger who brought their B games are struggling. Guys who brought their C game didn't make the cut. Sounds about right to me.

-9 at the halfway point.

My picks are McIlroy or DJ. Both are playing really well, but have left a lot strokes on the course. McIlroy went bogey, double bogey on 13 and 14 from the middle of fairway with short wedges in hand. Doubt you will see any mistakes like that the rest of week from McIlroy. DJ had a ton of short putts for birdies that he didn’t convert. Both guys tee to green is solid right now.

the winning score will surely be in the double digits..if Tiger cannot muster a super low round today--64 or better--he's out of it..

..BTW it's slightly pass midnight here and Tiger's tee time is more than 2 hours away..

just took a shower to ward off any sleepiness and will drink coffee in a while and hope to see Tiger's play....

if he doesn't light it up in the front 9 I'm going to sleep..

Thing is...then he'll have to back that up with another reasonably low round on Sunday. Not likely. When you start having to push things on this course in order to catch up, you potentially put yourself in places you can't make pars from.

I've said it before, but he plays golf like Wyle E. Coyote would and it is just magical when it goes well.

My solution is to never go to the range and just play golf.

Problem solved.

These odds DO NOT take into account that Mcilroy has not beaten another Top 5 player on Sunday in the last two years!

I would love to see him take it, but his performance against the top players on Sunday does not match those odds.

I mean, BK is the favorite until proven otherwise at this point, correct?

> Tiger is not doing too well at the US Open, I wonder if he will ever win again?

It's all about progress, he hasn't played on the weekend of a US Open in 6 years. This week was a step in the right direction.

Given his fused back holds up for the next 7 or so years (would be 10 years total, which is what most medical professionals predict it can hold up), his best chance at an US Open is at Torrey in 2021. He needs to play well and get lucky to grab another masters like this year and fall back into a British win like Earnie when Adam Scott choked.

That's the road map to 18 majors over the next 7 years. A lot of people expected him to just go on a run and win multiple majors per year after he won one in April but thats just not going to happen at his age and with his current body. The long picture is what we should be thinking and focused on.
