Congrats to Jennifer and Maria for making the cut in their first professional event.

A few real surprises in the cut category. Shocked to see Amy miss a cut in a major. She's almost always guaranteed a top ten finish.

Not sure what some people were expecting about the course. It's low country. 'Going to be rather flat. I'm thrilled to see as much elevation change as there is.

Nasa, Jennifer Song and Bronte really surprised me, no carry over momentum on this course.

Wow. Maria is -4 after 9 holes. Step 1: Play conservative to make the cut. Step 2: Light it up.

The course must be set up tough today. Other than Maria, and Brooke (-2), the early players are all treading water.

Lucy had to withdraw from the ANWA due to injury. I assume the injury also impacted her USWO qualifying efforts.

As far as the rough, it’s Bermuda and it’s thick. Due to the green complexes, hitting those greens from the rough is really difficult. The green complexes are designed extremely well. The 11th green (par 3) is so elevated that it is unviewable unless you have a pass for the grandstand (I did not). By the end of Friday, the course had converted me and I was a fan. It’s not flashy but it has teeth.

Jess/Aza/Green all played really well, although Aza got off to a rough start Friday. JM Green played really good. Didn’t see her in trouble either day and if her putter warms up even a little bit, better look out. She was burning the edge both days.

I really enjoy the views of the Ravenel bridge. That is the highlight of this event for me. I visited Charleston a couple of years ago for 4 days. My hotel was a half mile down the street from that bridge. One night I walked all the way across it and back. Great experience especially since it was a blustery cold night in November.

Only problem was that it wasn't obvious how to walk up onto the bridge in the first place. I couldn't find the route. There was a community center in the area so I asked a couple of people who were walking past. They totally blew me off. I mean nothing. Not a glance. You idiots...I'm not asking for a handout. I just want to know how to get up on the walkway. Fortunately there was a group of senior citizens who were outdoors practicing their ballroom dance routines in the cold. They were not scared of the guy in his 50s wearing Canes gear. They stopped and smiled and gave me the information, while agreeing the route was not obvious and really should be better marked. In the process they rescued my impression of people from Charleston.

I had no idea this course existed, let alone not too far away. I visited numerous sites like Fort Sumter and The Citadel and College of Charleston and a couple of plantations, plus a great downtown walking tour from The Two Sisters. I certainly would have taken a drive to see what I could see of this course, even if it might not be much, like Kiawah Island and the fortress conditions there toward anyone who dares approach.

Mike Davis doesn't need to be on screen or on premises. That's my only other observation. Too bad the thread devoted to him was locked.

Don't remember where, but I do remember reading that there was speculation that there was an agreement with the USGA that she withdraw from the ANWA due to the question over her amateur status after she was in whatever commercial that was. Maybe a carryover for the USWO as well? I don't know.

I’d be surprised if the people who blew you off were native South Carolinians.

Lucy Li registered to play USWO Qualifier at Novato, California on May 6 but withdrew without hitting a shot.

The Qualifier is open to both amateurs and professionals; so it isn't a matter of her amateur status.

It looks like her injury is real; probably serious.

Birdies to be had. Bogies to be had. The course really punishes errant shots, although we've seen some great bunker play up to this point. A few players making their moves, while others tread water.

Mamiko once again with a hot putter, but it appears to be cooling. She's hitting a few too many poor approaches. Jaye Marie playing great golf. Steady as a rock. Ditto Celine. 'Nothing fancy, just hit greens.

267 yd driver off the deck? Heck, I can't hit my driver 267 off a tee. Nice bounce back by Jessica after a rotten start. She needs a few birdies, though.

Sei Young and Lexi both hot and cold. Yu and Gaby sneaking into the mix. 'Great stuff.

Speaking of racist behavior, the LPGA itself has behaved this way towards the Korean players. They make fun of their accents and shame them into having to speak English. If that's not racism, please enlighten me.
