Any info on the Scotty Cameron Select 2020 line?

This is interesting. I went thru my bag of putters. Something I never did before, count how many Scotties I had, 6 of them. I know, I am a ho.

The interesting thing was that I noticed the sole of one of first Newports I bought, same tri sole as the new Special Select.

I hit a few models the day they came out and the squareback was no worse sounding. I don’t mind it all now, the ting sound is a watered down tour sound I learned.

Here's the final product if anyone was curious...translucent blue, white and black. Super simple version is to use paint stripper and acetone to remove the paint, put on the new color filling the engraving, wait until I dries and use acetone to wipe the excess away leaving the color in just the letters. The best thing I've ever done is buy "needle tip" bottles for the paint, much more accurate...but I have used toothpicks in the past to drop the paint in the spot I need it. The trick with the bombs is to use the same number of paint drops in each so they end up even. Alright...heres the good stuff!

I’m interested in the NP2 since the shape is so nice. Back to that tour look with the tri-sole. Very sleek and smooth.

I have studio select Newport 2 from like 2006 or 2007. Found it at a sports thrift shop like 7 years ago.

May need to upgrade.

Special Select update. I got the 20 weights today. Absolutely perfect now. Balance, tempo, sound and feel excellent.

Word of advice on putting grip. I use a Skypro swing analyzer. This can be used for putting too.

When I got this about 4 years ago I did a putting grip analysis.

I gathered data, 5 putts per grip type. I did every variation of popular grips.

The grip with the most consistency and numbers - the claw type.

Skypro provides static and dynamic loft. My putter loft is 2 degrees, my dynamic is 3/4 degrees. My ball position is just left of center.

I like it. Is the "Cameron" on the neck and "Select Newport 2" on the sole black? Maybe fill the weights with the same translucent blue just in the inner 35 circle?

Really like yours and the other guy that used a "smoke" color too.

I'm having a hard time deciding between the Newport and Newport 2 but leaning toward the NP. Anyone know what gram weights they have in a 35" Newport? Just want to order one with a bit more weight in it after hitting it at GG the other day.

Standard weight Newport has 2 x 30g and the heavy has 2 x 35g.

May I ask - Did you send your putter back and have them switch weights out, or did you order the weights / kit and do the swap yourself? I ordered a 34.5” NP2 and it came with 2 x 35 gm weights. Feels great but a tad heavy in the head. Think getting 2 x 20 or 2 x 25 gm weights would be the answer. I like a 330-340 gm head anyways.

I bought the weights on eBay. Searched for studio select weights. . The Special with 30’s is 350 gm 35”.

I use a swing weight scale to get a putter to the desired swing weight. I do this after changing to my preferred grip.

if you have access to a scale, measure the putter that feels best to you. Since you have 34.5” I would recommend the scale method.

note that on the Special there are recessed areas under the weights. You can use hot melt, silicone caulk +bird shot/bb’s to get the desired weight. This is done to fine tune the balance/feel.

And when you change to different weights, the sound and impact feel will change.

I just bought a 33" Newport 2 and one of the big things that I noticed was that the heel bumper is shorter than that of the toe bumper. A look that reminds me of the 2012 Select Newport. The other things I noticed is that feel felt a little more clacky than that of my Studio Stainless and I assume that is because of the cavity on the backside and super thin wall/top line. I could be wrong, just a guess. It's also a little longer from heal to toe than my studio stainless but overall I really like the new Special Select and have been enjoying it.

Pulled the trigger on the new Delmar. When compared against my Newport3, it seems that the head is a fraction smaller. I actually prefer the new grip.. it reminds me of the old pingman grips. Loving the milled face and cant wait to put it in play..
