His new shop looks amazing. Wish he and his team well as they work to churn out product again. Will be interesing to see if they can recapture some of the market share that has been lost. It became apparent long ago that I'm not his target audience, but appreciate his craftmanship from a distance and hope that those who really want to lay their hands on a Lamb product are able to do so.

Lost a lot of steam, others like Olson and SWAG really reaping the lion's share of up-and-coming boutique customer base.

I don't foresee Lamb ramping up production to get his putters into the hands of the masses. Supply will remain restricted with long lead times to create a sense of exclusivity. He will have more space to throw parties now.

They are doing a beautiful job with the new building that's for sure, been following along on IG. But I'm also not in the target market of guys with that much coin to drop. I just enjoy seeing the work and hope they continue to do well. The super cliq-iness of it is a bit off putting for me also, but I've never been in the "in-crowd" of any group lol

If he does ramp up putter production, how big is the market for $1500+ putters not made to one's specs?

I agree there are many more putter makers with the same talent that are willing to make a true custom putter.

Some may just buy to flip and others may not care and just want that exclusive item, kinda like a Circle T but cheaper and can show off on Instagram.

I hadn't appreciated how good a machinist he was until he posted a load of stories recently with a whole range of parts he had made.

Hope to own a piece of his handiwork one day, I don't think many others get that close in terms of quality. Big fan of Cody James' stuff, Mackmade and Strokes Gained, but there are plenty of options out there for all budgets now in the Instasphere...

Serious question, why would I pick a more expensive Lamb putter over an Artisan putter that has been custom fit and built just for me?

idk I don't get the whole Lamb thing. I see then on ebay and facebook for high $2xxx and into $3-5k range and nothing blows me away. Much rather have Olson, Lamb, Swag, Piretti, all cheaper and better looking imo

I think it's that exclusivity in that they're so hard to get, also seems like when you get one you are put into this weird fraternal brotherhood of other Lamb owners who apparently golf but seems more like they just take photos with their putters all day at the course. I'm not sure how many of them actually game them too outside of those group days.

But I myself would rather have an Artisan just on that custom fit part, I think it would be cheaper to fly down to Artisan HQ to get fit than score a Lamb putter.

The shop is for producing putters , divot tools, ball markers etc... or is it a retail shop for selling the merchandise, or both ?

Here's my guess for his business model....

The new shop with added machines is to ramp up production.  But he'll probably try to do an introductory level and then a high end level.  Now the high end level may be a "custom" build to the buyer's specs OR it may be 1 offs of really labor intensive work (like a lot of his current models).  Either way, I would expect to see production of like 10 putters (like what Olson does for $650 on his IG flash sales) but in the $800-1300 (whatever he thinks he can get) and custom or high end putters for $1500 and up.

As for the ball marks and divot tools, I don't know and don't care.

I'm not dying to get a lamb putter but I'm not hating on him either.  If he chooses to go on the higher end of boutique putters, that's fine, he's one of the most talented so it aligns well.

I think it’s all of the above, plus a bar and food truck area. It sounds like a brewery, except they don’t make beer, they make putters and putter gear. But I guess they will have other (likely local brewery) beers on tap.

I know how much I have into 3 custom wedges and a putter from Artisan and it’s less than some of these Lamb numbers. Granted I live in Houston so no real travel costs outside of gas, but I am totally with you. You could spend a day there with airfare and still come out ahead with clubs built for you by legends.

That sounds awesome.  If they throw a massive putting green outside by the beer station, I'm going out of my way to stop by there.

They could setup a $5 long putt for a new putter.

He did say there was going to be a lot of space for a putting green he planned to install. It would be like Top Golf, but for putting...and of course buying mega-expensive Anser putters.

Here's how it'd go for me....

sober: I'm just going to check it out.

1 beer in: this is kinda cool.

3 beers in: This is awesome, I should buy something, maybe a $50 hat.

6 beers in: So you say I can order a putter like this for $2200?  Not bad.

8 beers in: I'll TAKE IT!

Next day: Yes, hi, did I leave my credit card there by accident?  Oh and I need to cancel my order as well.

This is pure speculation, but my guess is that he has some sort of "deal" with an OEM to get acquired or a business model like Scotty.  They need to get production to a certain level before that happens and guessing ball markers and accessories allowed him to get there faster than putters.  Now the focus will shift to putters to get to the needed output.

Shoot I'd spend a weekend there, no way I'm going down to Texas without enjoying some good food and seeing the sights. It's been almost a decade since I was in Texas last and it was only in Lubbock which is ok.

But back to Artisan, I think a fully fit putter or wedge from them is worth more than a random 2-5K putter from anyone unless you already know your specs and what you like and find an exact match but Artisan basically keeps track of every last detail that goes into every club that they make.
