Non Vokey Wedges

I bought some Artisan Wedges last week and wow, the whole experience from fitting to receiveing them has been amazing.

I think if MG2 wedges did a 46* then they would have been my second choice.

After being a longtime Vokey person I decided to give the MG2’s a shot.

i have the tmade mg2s low bounce. they feel amazing

I still really like my Cobra King wedges. I have the 56* in the WideLow Grind (7* bounce) and a 60* Pur also in the WideLow Grind (4* bounce).

Have tested out the Vokey, Callaway, TM wedges and haven't found a reason to switch yet.

Hitting the cleveland rtx4s right now. Still getting used to them but not bad!

I love my TM 58 Hi-toe. My favorite though is my 52 TM RAC. Old as dirt but it has the softest feel there is. FWIW I have 2 SM7's as well a 46 and 54.

I have 50° and 56° Cleveland RTX4s in the black finish that I’ve had for almost a year and a half and I love them! Also have a 60° taylormade Hi-toe with the atv grind that I use a ton since I’m always short aiding myself as well as in bunkers!

From a high handicap golfers bag it is the Cleveland Smart Sole 4.0 wedges (G, S, and C). The smart sole line up of the past are good, but these new wedges this year has helped add a little bit of spin that the others were missing I think. Just a few rounds into this year and my wedge game has defiantly improved. Mostly due to lessons and practice, but this wedges have defiantly instilled some more confidence in my game. An area that was lacking last year when it comes this part of my bag.

Mizuno S18s at the moment. May look at the T20s at some point, but I'm getting good results with the S18s (why fix something that isn't broken).

RTX4 wedges are solid. They come standard with S400 tour issue shafts. I recently purchased a gap 50 degree wedge. Club fitter bent the lie 1 degree flat for me and commented that the steel construction on the RTX4 is soft and bends easily.

My next purchase may be the 58 degree extra low bounce (3 degrees).

Ping Glide Forged. Picked up a 50/54/58 set out of the used rack at a DSG only because they were LH, cheap and very little use. Wow. No idea what shafts are in them as the sticker was removed at some point, and they're the same length as my i210 PW. Great spin, easy to flight and the slightly longer length makes the swing more comfortable. Came from a set of RTX4's.

Gaming a pair of Harry Taylor Design 305s in 54º and 58º. Very happy with them

Right now, Miura Tour 2018 and Honma TW-W 737 series....Both forged and solid, not clicky.

I just built a 52 and 58 degree Maltby Tour Grind. The shape is superb - sets up very well for my eye. Feel and performance is good too. Great buy for about $50 new.

Callaway Mack Daddy Forged 54 degree is the only wedge I am carrying right now. I use it for all shots inside of 105 yards except for bump and run shots. Had Mack Daddy 4s at 46 and 50 but replaced them with 2018 Apex MB PW and GW to match my irons. I like the feel of the Mack Daddy Forged wedge but after one season I'm not sure how much life it has left. The Mack Daddy 4 wedges were fine, good performance, good balance, ok feel off the face, a lot of spin.

Here’s the 58 (60 bent to 58). I would say it’s pretty straight. I tried to get some pics - the ones with the ball are normal, opened up, and closed back in stance. It sets up nice for all the major shots

Going through the deciding/demo phase.

As of now leaning towards the MD 4 or 5 54* and then a high toe 58.

Next will try the Glide 3. 54 and the eye 2 58

My 20 Wilson Staff forged 58 is sweet, If it's anything like my raw 52 & 55 PMP's I'm in for a treat.

My Mizuno S18's....forged and so versatile no matter the lie....love them....got them used someone had custom ordered them ....standard length and lie with Project X LZ 5.0....softer shaft which I prefer since I have average swing speed and softer feel which compliments the forged heads....will play them until the grooves are gone

My local super golf store has lots of Vokey wedges but not nearly as many TM or Callaway wedges. The store I use to frequent was owned by a buddy who was also an X-pro. He carried a lot of better equipment because a lot of better golfers were members in nearby pvt clubs and in the vicinity. Skilled merchandising and OEM marketing programs determine what stores carry.

... I get the business decision and probably done by the corporate offices. But a major golf store should at least carry one of each. TM only has 2 grinds for each loft so that isn't much to stock. You carry at least one 58* LB and when you sell it, you order another. Business 101.
