Hello guys, in regards to the Truss TM2. I show the headweight to be at 355g with 2 different 10g weights. So the total playing weight of the head would be 375g than yes? (i am assuming the stock weights are not built into the headweight listed on the site but wanted to confirm)

What are the heaviest custom weights that can be ordered with it? Is there a way to get this thing over 400g?

Hey Team TM!

I have really enjoyed watching and experiencing the evolution of products over the years. TM's willingness to push boundaries really appeals to my inherent aversion to the status quo. That being said, I played a 16M2 for a long time and haven't gotten along with newer TM drivers in a few years. I make my annual TM driver purchase (not just a fitting session), having played the 17M2, M3, M5 and finally just bought a tour issue M4 to try with my Ventus Black. I haven't even tried the SIM series yet because apparently my swing isn't evolving with your products!!

Any reason you can think that I haven't found as much success with newer TM drivers? Am I allergic to Twist Face? Was the 16M2 just that magical? I'd probably still play it if I didn't keep cracking those heads (making them with unicorn horn will cause that...)

Looking for a reason to try out the new line of drivers, basically. Thank you for your time, and I hope you are staying safe and healthy.

Hi team Taylormade, thanks for doing this. I have spent the winter tinkering with some options for a 200 yard club. Currently finding some good results with the GAPR Mid 5 one click higher on the loft setting. However, I am finding the length of the club a little hard to manage. If the next club in my bag is the 6 iron there is a 1.5" difference in length that I (maybe its mental) just have a hard time with. Can I chop the shaft to match what would be my set 5 iron, 38", or would that have some adverse affect on the performance of the club. I can find the sweet spot better with my 5 iron but I love the ball flight and peak height/decent angle and the forgiveness I'm getting from the GAPR. Thanks again!

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to thank you guys for doing this. I was curious if there was a change in the face angles of the M5 and SIM Fairway woods when compared to the M3 and 2016 M1. It seems like the M3 and 2016 M1 had more open faces. I wasn't sure once twist face was introduced that then in turn changed the face angles.

Thanks,

Josh

Hi Zepolgolf! This is something that we are beginning to look into more as a company especially with how custom driven this industry has become. 2020 is the first year with SIM that we are adjusting the weights on the driver to reach our target swing weight when length is changed (heavier back weight added on shortened drivers, lighter back weight on lengthened drivers). I was thrilled with this as I play my driver at 45" and have always had to add weight in the past.

Hi Olde Maroon! Thank you for your continued support of our brand and I couldn't agree more with your first statement. That is one of the things I love about being involved with this company....every time I think we've hit the limit our team finds a way to surprise me!

The 16M2 was one of the best drivers we've had. Tough to say why you haven't found similar success in the newer models other than the simple answer of it being comfortable in your hands but it is always worth giving the new ones a try! In fittings with SIM and SIM Max this year I have been seeing a lot of players who have passed on the last few generations finally make the switch! The added speed and forgiveness benefits in the SIM line have showed in these fittings.

Hi Brons! Shortening the shaft is an option on that GAPR but there's a couple things to keep in mind if you go that route. First, the swing weight will be affected by shortening it so you will have to add that lost weight back. Second, shortening that shaft will also result in a slight loss of distance so you may way to experiment with the loft sleeve after to make sure you are still hitting that 200 yard distance you need.

Hi Wedge Ninja! One of the main reasons we have always offered the smaller head was for those players that fought high spin and to help give them an even lower spinning head. With our SIM driver we felt the spin was low enough that we didn't need that option. As far as I am aware there isn't anything in the works but as a few other team members have mentioned in this thread, you never know what TM will surprise us with next!

I purchased a SIM Driver with Hzrdus smoke green 70g 6.0 and sim max 3 wood with Ventus blue 6x stock shaft ( non velocore). The driver has been amazing with such a good feel and great numbers. I fought dispersion and too low launch issues with the 3 wood and tipped it further thinking it was not right enough as compared to the velocore version. Still had a hard time elevating it off the deck. Tried a few other shafts I had laying around and still some issues. Driver around 100 mph handicap 6.0 like to hit a power fade

I bought a sim max 5 wood to get my 220 yard distance covered and it came with a Ventus 5 regular shaft. I was planning on using the head only so didn’t care about he shaft. I tried it for giggles and it is amazing. I feel like I can load the shaft, it hits the number over and over again and is accurate.

I have always been a heavier and stiffer shaft person for my erratic swing and tempo. Think Jim Furyk meets Nick Price. Never would I have thought about such a light or soft flex shaft. Is this something that you might be seeing with fittings? I am now looking for a Ventus blue 5- regular shaft for my sim max 3 and maybe one for my sim driver as well!

Love Taylormade customer service and I have been a fan of the brand since my first driver the burner super steel 250!

@ericft Happy Sunday and thank you for the Taylormade support! This is not a surprise to me. Golfers get stuck in what they have played for years quite often. Every fitting I go into I try to gauge the golfers commitment to trying new product/shafts that can help their game. Sometimes a softer shaft will work better and sometimes a stiffer shaft ends up being the winner. TrackMan and our MyFittingExp app allow us to show the golfer what’s best as well. Distance, ball speed, peak height, launch spin, dispersion, those are all factors we look at. And at the end of the fitting if it feels good to the golfer, that’s what we go with. We don’t get to these places without the golfer being open and honest about their game and their needs/wants though. You can’t underestimate the importance of going into a fitting with an open mind if there is something you are struggling with or want to improve upon.

Thanks TM for the doing what your doing and letting us dream about how well we will be playing once the clouds lift with the latest from TaylorMade! I echo a lot of the feedback of appreciation for what TaylorMade has made available especially the custom department, would love to see more in the "Vault". Special kudos for the P7TW offering, stunning !

During my fitting, my fitter (Patrick) put me in an M4 set to 9.5* In the higher loft setting. This was simply due to the appearance in the address position as the 9.5* had better visual appeal to me at address than a 10.5*. We also went with 44.5”.

Given that info, what would be a good recommendation as a starting point for loft/setting when demo’ing the Sim lineup?

@TaylorMade Golf thank you very much for doing this Q&A. I've read through each page and have seen some conflicting information that I was hoping to have clarified! I'm a fairly high launch high spin player and am looking for the lowest launching of your two 3 wood options. I just recently received my SIM driver with Motore F1 6X and it's been awesome, I especially love how low spin it is on low on the face strikes. My current 3 wood is paired with a Diamana ZF, which I like the feel of but don't love the launch conditions. Any shaft/head combos for a low bullet launching 3 wood? My swing speed is 112-115mph with driver for reference and I like to hit a little cut.

Im a big FAN of the vault offerings and often try to score some of the sweet putter headcovers when they launch! I hope we can keep growing this area of Taylormade as the years go on. Wade from the truck is even thinking about doing one off builds and lots of cool stuff, so hopefully his offerings would go there too!!!

@twoodssuperfan Our custom department is still humming! Without knowing any of the specs you are ordering, there could be some back orders in some product that has been low thanks to the current COVID-19 situation, but no added delays that I am aware of.
