My last 3 driver shafts...

Ventus Black

Motore X F1

Tensei CK Pro White

bought the shiny Blue RDX 60 TX...it’s my favorite. Best feel and long. The weight/balance of the shaft is perfect for me. I’m not sure if it’s counterbalanced but I bumped up to 45.5” with TSi3 and swing weights at D3. Going to stick with this for a while. Going to try RDX 70 in 3 wood vs. my Tensei CK Pro White 70 TX.

Hey, I’m trying to decide between a 60 or 70 TX RDX Blue for my TSi3. I like my driver at D3-D4 and was just curious is you did anything else but keep it at 45.5” to get the right swing weight? I was planning on going with the 70 TX and playing at 45.25”.

I went to 45” its around D1-D2 which I like. It’s not super counterbalanced. Very minimal from what I feel but man I love this shaft.

Put a 70TX in the 3 wood and that’s all fantastic. Project X nailed it with this one.

Anyone compared the RDX Blue Smoke vs. The Ventus Blue w/Velcore?  Curious of differences, feel, distance, etc.  Probably going to order one or the other with new Callaway Speed but nowhere to test so purchasing blind.  Appreciate any insight.

I have the RDX Blue Smoke on the way and currently have the Ventus.  I’ll post numbers when I’m able to hit them with my SIM later this week or weekend.

Curious to see how you like the Blue RDX.  I'm still shaft testing but have hit some really nice drives with mine so far.

I’ll try and get some good numbers put up this afternoon.  As soon as I ordered I had to be away for work for 2 weeks..  just started to hit some with this combo yesterday.  Initial impressions were good, but my swing was all over the place so I’ll get some work in today.

Obviously everybody reacts to different shafts in different ways, but the Ventus Blue and RDX Blue are virtually identical in their EI profile (stiffer handle, softer mid, stiffer tip). This is also Aldila's blue profile. The softer mid is what accounts for what most experience as more kick through impact with the Blue as opposed to the RDX Black which is almost perfectly linear or "smooth" in its profile.

YMMV, of course, but I'd imagine the differences and your preferences will come down to feel from differences in raw materials used and differences in torque values. Since you like one, 99% sure you're going to like the other too.

First numbers showed slightly lower spin, which for me is great, and I’ve always liked a counter balance shaft.  We’ll see if everything holds over the next few sessions.

If you're able to, track what your strike locations look like for both and see if that accounts for spin differences. TXG does a great job of this and so often it is the causal factor in their comparison tests. Ultimately if one gives you better performance and confidence it doesn't really matter why, but tracking strike quality is critical to determining what's really going on with different combinations of shaft and delivery mechanism (ie the player).

Good info.  This will be an ongoing comparison because of just that.  Once my swing feels better after the layoff I’ll track better to see over time instead of a one day wonder.

I apologize If this has been asked already but is the no charge RTX Smoke blue shaft in the Taylormade Sim2 (non-TX shaft) the identical same shaft with PVD/paint and Hexcel technology that you buy from a club builder for $300?

it is not the PVD painted shaft but it is the same shaft in black finish with blue lettering that is offered no upcharge in the Cobra RAD driver as well.

Both are really great shafts-for me- coming from Diamana BF/RF.

smooth and such great numbers.

I was lucky enough to win a limited edition smoke rdx black in masters green recently. I honestly think the blue would be a better fit for me but will give it a go. My driver ss is 100-103 and I'm more of a mid launch guy. I got the 5.5 flex and am going to experiment with it in my Cobra f9. Going to try it at 12* loft to start. It actually doesn't feel as stout as I thought it might but will have to wait for some better weather to see some actual results.

Disappointing. What’s the point of a black matte finish on the rdx black and blue? Why bother to make a different looking shaft for aftermarket selections for TM and Cobra?  (They are apparently not “made for” which I generally agree with).

I had never thought that much about how shafts affect strike patterns until I started watching TXG.  I've been trying several shafts lately.  This picture is from a practice session last week.. hit about 40 balls with the Smoke Blue RDX. .not too bad on strike patterns. .just need to dial in my tee height to see what I like best.  Still wanting to give a few other shafts a test but this one might be hard to beat.

Your Blue 60TX is exactly the one that I'm yearning to try, and in a TSi3 also but likely in a 10 lofted down to 9.25. Can you post some other pics of the combo? I bet the glossy blue looks amazing in in the TSi head.

I haven’t been able to figure out how to capture the numbers for my system in a format better that just pictures, but so far in my SIM 8* it’s the Blue RDX TX 60 winning out over the Ventus Blue 6X.  Ball speeds have been average 1-2 mph (last session was the first time averaging just over 170) more and spin has been averaging 100-200 less.  I know it’s not a whole lot but the more I swing the RDX the better it feels.  I’ll be doing another comparison when my SIM2 8* get here with both heads and shaft combos being tested.  Debating whether to get the 70tx for my sim ti rocket.

Thinking the same thing for my 3 wood.. as good as the shaft feels in a driver you would think it has to be just as good in a 3 wood, especially since I use my 3 wood primarily from the tee...
