I'd say the guys finishing at +6 this morning shouldn't be in any big hurry to check out of their hotel rooms.

Edited to add : just looked at the US Open website, and the cut line was just "officially projected" to be +6.

Scoring average of those who've finished this morning : 75.4, vs. 72.49 yesterday for all players.

I think it will prob move to +5 which is at T68 right now with the afternoon wave just starting.

+6 is at at T83. This could come down to one guy making or missing a putt as to whether or not it gets to +6.

I'm thinking that the -3 number that DeChambeau just posted, might be leading come tonight.

Good for Bryson, right now I find him the most intriguing player to watch. He's taken a lot of heat but he stuck to his plan and it's working

I am really not a fan of the guy. But I could really see Patrick Reed being a major contender here. He has a very solid and complete game, plus he is extremely mentally tough. All qualities you should love.

But I cant stand him..

Gotta admit, he's caught my attention.

I thought he was crazy with the weight gain.  Then he started hitting the ball really far.

On the first tee yesterday they were saying his plan is to bomb it as far as he can, never mind that rough.  Then he took a swing and I could feel the air move from 500 miles away...

He may turn out to be pretty good after all.

I realize there are a lot of folks who don't care for Patrick Reed, but for various reasons I always like to see him in the hunt. I like golfers with his personality, especially exemplified in the Ryder Cup against Rory, I think that's he's the type we need to see more of.

Tiger with a good putt to start his round. Can I buy stock in Lamkin?

I hate Lamkin grips!  But I have one on my putter.  Go figure.  LOL

Can I say I'm tired of the commentators talking about the rough. I get it, it's thick. It doesn't seem to be affecting anyone too badly, as I type this Kevin Na blasts out of the rough to 30 feet like no one's business; he'll two putt for par.

Players don't seem to fear it, Bryson doesn't fear it, so why make it out to be this vaunted thing.

And yes it's 4 inches and I'd be dead in it. But these guys aren't making huge numbers from it.

Last word on the subject but Rickie needed par on the easiest hole on the course to make the weekend and he bogeyed it after making a mess of things. He three-putted from 20 feet...and that was after starting the round by four-putting the 10th.

I think +6 will make it on the number....if I was a betting man.

Byron Nelson had a tougher childhood...was an absolute assasin(who whipped hogan at every level)

yet he was exceedingly kind and never needed excusing his rudeness...because he was a gentlemen

hogan had a great game and, like Nelson, was an assassin...but Nelson would rip ur throat out politely ?

manners matter imho

nicklaus was the same way as Nelson...no need to be rude

Johnny Miller often recalls the year he was low amateur in 68 at the U.S. Open…

He walked up to Hogan and said “Mr. Hogan, my name is Johnny Miller and I’m the low amateur and I would love to shake your hand.”

Ben Hogan never looked up and said “Cant you see I’m eating my soup, boy?”

No argument from me.  The attitude is important and how we react to things, but everyone is a product of what happens to them.  They each made a choice on how to react to their circumstances.

On a setup like this, if you can't find the short grass to save your life, and aren't wielding a hot putter to make up for it, you're not going to be competitive.

Could phil , dial back, hit a 280 yd bunt driver , keep it in the short stuff and use his strength in the irons to complete???  Or is that not possible on this type of set up ?
