New Byron Morgans

Byron and I texted in September about my DH89 and having the Tai treatment done and some stamps added.  He told me to send it in and I did.  Unfortunately he wasn’t able to work on it.  Not because he didn’t work on it but because his health was so bad.  I’d rather have Byron here and have my putter as a plain Jane.

I asked the same question in the other thread and sadly it sounds like the answer is no since he was the company.

That's a shame to hear he passed, I had no idea. Selfishly, I'm even more happy I was able to get a putter from him last year. It had always been on my list and I kept pushing it off. I've been putting with it more and more. I was just thinking this afternoon that I'd like to add a DH89 to my collection.

The DH89 and the old patchwork cover have been my gamers going on 5 years now.. Best there are in my opinion.. Still on the hunt for a flowneck 007... If anyone has one they would part with let me know..

Great taste in putters, those are a nice collection of flow necks.

I love that B-17 but I'd go blind using it on the course.

Yeah, the high buff is a little much. Will be having it refinished to match the 620.

Well, this may be my last posting of an original new or refurbed Byron flatstick.  Truly an end of an era....  I really resonate with all the testimonials above (and in other threads).  What made Byron great was not only the craftsmanship of the product, but the genuineness of the relationship you had with him and the way he made you feel as a person, golfer, and even friend.  You were never just a customer....

 

Here's a 2x stainless 620 (misted and polished) - last of my new ones.  Maybe there will be other posts on secondary purchases, etc., we'll see....  Maybe we'll find another craftsman to do the refurb work that Byron was so generous to do on his gear....  Let's keep the thread going with any other comments or pics of new acquisitions....

Nice.  I really wanted a LH 620 with that Twilight Zone milling, but no LH 620's were ever made.

Same here there was some talks I think but never materialized. The DH89 is a nice shape but those 620s are something else.

weirdly enough, I unknowingly reached out to the company before my knowledge of his passing... I actually received an email back stating that they no longer will be taking orders as he was the entire company. That being said, i am not sure if there is a plan of someone else taking over. But at that point, I would assume that person would just do their own company.

Shout out here to Jeremy/JRich at the Putter Spa.  With Byron gone (RIP), I had to go somewhere else for a needed refinish on my 006 gamer.  Putter Spa’s smoky grey finish on SS looks great.  Excellent job, and fast !!

Yeah one would simply be buying the name/brand.
 

Byron did basically everything. He was the company. Sadly, “Byron Design” essentially died with him.

If anyone has a bombora blade please pm me.  Somebody must of loved mine so much they bashed my truck window in and took the whole bag.  Heartbroken as that was my last putter and sounds like it can't be remade.  Rip Byron

HATE a thief, if you have a picture post it up & we'll keep an eye out..

 

Bombora's are not terribly prevalent so if it hits the internet it will be easy to spot.

It looked just like this, but very basic.  Smooth back side and no sight dot.  Tuna milled face and just a byron morgan stamp on the bottom.  Thank you for this.  I've been checking ebay every couple of hours for it.

If it’s a heel shafted bombora like the ones pictured then it should be pretty easy to pick out if it turns up online.

I doubt it.  Took my son golfing and went to see a movie afterwards.  They took his too.  Had it in a parking garage I've parked in probably 50 times before 🤷‍♂️

Pawn shops may be your best shot. Awful news. Good start with some feelers being put out here and on FB at least we’ll be watching.  I sold a SS Bombora about a month ago wish I could help but just have a carbon Bombora that Im likely to hold onto.

I guess you could call me old school.  I find the tool that works for me and try to master it.  As Tom Cruise would say, it's not the plane, it's the pilot.  To add insult to injury from that day, here are the irons that I've gamed for almost 20 years that were stolen as well.  Passed down to me from my father, and was going to pass on down to my son one day.  I sat there and my brain couldn't decide if it wanted to cry or throw up.
