I mentioned this earlier, Die Hard is just a good movie, and arguably one of the 3-4 best action movies ever. So yeah, not for this thread

For reference we also put the James Cameron movies (Terminator, True Lies) in that same mix

Those are just good movies

So, where do you guys stand on the original Transporter? It's 2002 so just outside the range here...

But it fits much of the criteria, very weak acting from basically everyone other than Statham. The villain looks like he could be in Dom's fast and the furious crew but is somehow some major human trafficker

The opening fight scene where Statham kicks down the door to that weird music is really good

The scene where Statham greases himself up and then fights people wearing bicycle cleats is also epic

I happened to catch The Fifth Element last night.  While not necessarily an action movie it is definitely classic b movie.

Invasion USA was mentioned earlier in the thread.... pure Chuck Norris cheese. The scene where he gets the bomb from the side of the school bus in construction traffic, then catches up to the bad guys to give them the bomb, make a wise crack and drive away, only to have the car blow up while parked - I laugh my butt off every time. And the bad guys... they are so awful. "It's time...to...die..." It's a must watch whenever it comes on at 2 AM.

Delta Force is another great one, based loosely off a true story. Lee Marvin's last movie. Delta Force 2 is truly awful though from start to finish.

Here's one that has action, but it's more sci-fi B movie.... Highlander. Of the main characters a frechman plays a scot and a scot plays a "Spanish peacock" as he's referred to. the Kurgan was a solid bad guy, who later voiced Mr Krabs on Spongebob. They can fight and behead one another anywhere, except on church property. Queen has an awesome soundtrack throughout. There can be only one!

Sly in Cobra = money.

The pandemic has me chasing down all this old stuff as well

I am 54 this year and I think this time frame of action flicks brings me back to my youth ... theatres, beta max, VHS and charges at the video store for not rewinding

”I’ll be back”

Is Karate Kid an action movie?  “Wax on Wax off”

The original Die Hard was so solid

Jeff have you seen POLAR ?  Recent but old school feel

Oh man, that Commando scene where Arnie's rumbling down a mountain through a forest of trees, in a Bronco-esque vehicle, classic!

I'm glad someone eventually mentioned "Lone Wolf McQuade" but surprised this one hasn't come up yet:

LOL! Love the replies

So to me, Commando is the alltime 80s action movie. It's just too perfect in every way...

Villain: Let's talk about Bennett OK....This is supposedly an ex-special forces type dude. He is clearly not in that great of shape, and hides his fat under what looks to be some sort of chain link shirt. That combined with the mustache, it really looks like he's on his way to the dance club right after his mission. All of his dialog is very awkward. This is one of the alltime poorly cast villains, but in such an awesome 80s way

Cliche lines: Pretty much every 2nd line. "I let him go" "i lied!" "Let off some steam", "don't bother my friend, he's dead tired"....it's all brilliant

At one point i'm pretty sure Arnold just rips the door off a car.

Commando is awesome

Nothing better than Arnold standing wide open with that big machine gun and nobody can hit him9
