Our Titleist Rep told us that there will not be an updated Select line for 2022 but rather some new Phantom shapes.  I was a little disappointed.  My speculation is that you will see more of a Black color theme in the Phantom shapes to coincide with the Limited release in the above post.

This is true. Nippon make the putter shafts and are having a hard time getting them made so looks like not many putters are in the pipeline. First it was grip and head cover issues now its shafts.

Actually shafts-especially Nippon and KBS have been an issue since May.

Do new shapes possibly mean an 11.5 with an actual slant neck? ie the h20 and the new 5.5

I’d think he could add more models. Special Select is already a strong retail line. Given the global shortage of material, not updating it in 2022 isn’t a worst thing. 
 

Of course, I cross my fingers and hope to see a few new models.

Color, a honey dip or black mist option would be great. Aside from that, the actual performance and feel is about as good as it'll get.

Agreed that color is the best he could do. It is a great selection of shapes, maybe you could add one or two more but I think they have a great lineup currently.

 

I think the feel is great and so wouldn't want that to change (I've always HATED SC inserts). 

 

A matte black finish of some kind would be awesome though. And personally I'd love some more alignment options (top line instead of flange line, sight dot, etc.)  but I know that will never make it to retail.

I just got a flowback 5.5 and it’s very nice. Already have a Phantom 5.5 in my other bag. I’m good for a while I think.  But I thought I was good with the older Phantom 5.5 but can’t do the aluminum.  I putt from too far away to have something that soft haha.

We usually get an official announcement in Jan. Unless someone is in the known and would spill the secrets (highly unlikely), most of stuff on the forum are just speculation, including the black/charcoal finish.

A reissue of the Oil Can Newport 2. One of the few SCs I regretted not buying.

My guess is they may forego 2022 and let the current line of Phantom and Special Select putters continue with some special edition models of the current line.

I would change a lot about the current lineup, but I’m picky. Shorter (less long) blade length. Taller face. Deeper milling for a softer feel. I also love the idea others have thrown out of the matte black or honey dipped color. My favorite idea is going back to the carbon for the softest feel. 
 

As a lefty, I wish we had access to the double wide and a short slant neck option. Lastly, I am a bit surprised they haven’t brought back the Laguna, Coranado, Hollywood, etc. 

 

On a positive note - I think the current select line has the best skinny top flange since the original Anser.

You are correct. I like the look. I suspect it is firmer feeling than I prefer but always willing to give it a roll. As someone who has raised issue with the lefty world only getting an Anser style and one other head from Scotty and Betti, I’ve been supporting companies who offer more lefty options. It seems a bit hypocritical if I don’t put my money where my mouth is. That being said, I’d lean towards Betti most times.

I wonder if he’ll release an armlock putter in the future. Ever since they abandoned the Dual Balance concept, they haven’t made anything in the realm of non-conventional putters.

 

I think an Armlock Phantom X5 would do quite well.

Armlock is a small segment of putter sales I doubt Cameron will do one. Maybe as an OEM custom order option but not likely a stock SKU. 

 

I could see a double bend shaft being added to X5.
