For comparison. I'm sure the Mk ii will look much better once we see color photos.

Coming from 785s I didn’t love the ZX7 when the black/white photos were released but I’ve had the ZX7 almost 2 seasons and can’t say I’ve played better. Gamed 745, 65, and 85 for a year each and loving the ZX7.

Hope the new ones are just as good but feel like it’s a given based on their track record.

Same here, I thought the first ZX7 were busy looking when pics first leaked, but have really grown to love their technical and sleek look.

I've played my best golf this year with my combo set and strikes feel so pure with the irons (especially the ZX7s). I'm sure the second gen will be the same.

Where did you split your combo set?

I play zx5 4i and zx7 5i-pw. Zx7 feel fantastic but my 4i is in a different league of east to hit and straight. Considering picking up a 5, 6, maybe 7…

I originally ordered a full set of zx7 from 5-PW, and hit them ok, then I decided to order a couple zx5 irons, for the 5 and 6 just to try out. Brought them to the range and compared them to the corresponding zx7 and it was not even close. The zx5 launched way higher, were way straighter, and maintained distance better on mishits.

So I've played that combo for a year and a half (iirc), and they've been great. I prefer that combo and the zx5 5 and 6 have allowed me to reach some par 5s in two and land them soft, whereas the zx7 give me control to flight down in the shorter irons (I prefer a high ball flight typically).

I ordered the zx5 5 and 6 irons one degree weak so they match the zx7 perfectly.

I'm not sure if I should change to the mk.ii as I'm in a groove with the originals. I may order a zx7 mk.ii 7 iron in a Modus 3 105x to try out and to see if it helps mitigate my overdraw left miss.

So who has current ZX7 and will be switching to the new ones?

I’m not switching out of the ZX7 - prefer the look of the original and the performance is exactly what my game’s quirks need.

However, if the ZX5 Mk II handles the thin miss a bit better, I may grab one and put 5i back in the bag.

Just curious. Did you ever try the OG ZX5 to blend with your ZX7’s?  Contemplating adding a 5 and 6 ZX5 OG to replace my ZX7’s in those spaces. So easy to hit.

I have a ZX5 in the 4i. It is so easy to hit. It’s a point and shoot. I don’t know if it’s the wider sole, extra tech or a combo, but I can launch and hit my ZX5 4i light years easier to compared to my ZX7 5/6i.

What shafts do you currently play?  I’m in PX 6.5s.

I intitially ordered my set with zx5 in the 5 and 6i and really struggles with the zx5 for some reason.

switched to zx7 all the way through.

Ohhhhhh snap... Now as a previous hater, I can humbly admit that those look much better in real photos! I can't wait for pics of the ZX5's though, those are the real deal breakers.

I'm in Modus 105s. I wanted something that went a bit higher, but was still stable. They may be a touch soft for me so I'm contemplating moving to 105x, but we'll see.

I have ZX5 5 and 6 irons on the way to try them out against the 5 and 6 in my ZX7s.

I have a tougher time getting a repeatable swing in my long irons so I figure I may as well try out the extra forgiveness.

Like @Aviador Naval says, the only weakness I’ve seen is on thin strikes.

My low point control isn’t super tight, so I fight the fats and thins. I goofed with a T200/T100S combo set recently but that quickly became evident it’s not for me at least on the T100S sole shape. It’s tough to find the best compromise on irons that handle both thins and fats well without getting myself into something with egregious offset.

I know what you mean by all of the previous models looked better and cleaner.... but when those were first released a lot of people hated them, they were very cutting edge and polarizing... I hated the ZX7's when they first came out, but given little time, I grew to love the super modern and clean look... I truly believe these will have the same WOW factory that you will grow to love the more you stare at the pics... I HATED the conforming pictures and smack talked them hard when they were first release (just read the above posts haha)... but I've now looked at these pictures a bunch of times, and I seem to like them more and more I look at them... I really do hope that the badge on the back of the MK2 ZX5's aren't that "standout-ish" as they are on the OG models and on the conforming pics

Those in the pic also have plastic on the heads, so they're bound to look even better.

I agree. I bet the picture of the badge on the ZX5s are exaggerated because of the shadows on black and white photos.

I bet they look better and are not as noticeable in the real photos.
