That is true.  The diamond has been out in Asia for a while now.

I don’t know either but I’ll for sure be looking at them. The ZForged are pretty awesome. I’ve had my three seasons now and love them

I currently have the ZX hybrid and love it. May look into getting the ZX5/7 in Driver....if they are anything like the hybrid im all in.

I’d say they’ll look very similar just with the sole notches like Hideki.

I really hope they do a blade early in the year that will blend aesthetically well with the ZX7s. I love the ZForged on their own, but wished they blended similarly to the previous releases (i.e 945, 965). 

 

Promised myself i would hold off on any new irons until i know for sure what these are going to look like. The new Mizunos definitely have me tempted, but my love for the old 945/745 has me with high hopes for a similar, but new blend of a ZX9/7 combo.

Believe they are on a two year cycle so don’t think there’s anything coming out 2022.

2 year cycle means they are due to update the ZX series at the end of 2022, as the ZX came out in 2020 (2 years after the 85 series).

 

I suspect with all the delays due to COVID that they might not update them this year, as it doesn’t feel like they’ve been available for 2 years.

 

Regarding a new blade, I would expect  a new one this year as they didn’t update the blades when the ZX were released.  At the time they said they wouldn’t update the blades with the other irons. It’s been 3 years for the Z Forged so a new blade wouldn’t be a surprise. My uninformed guess is they will take their visual cues from the ZX utility

I think part of the problem is that release cycles have really changed. It used to be leaks in October, release in January at the PGA show. Now, it's more of leaks all year long (look at the TM Stealth) and releases whenever they predict a product will do well and they can meet the supply chain demands. That said, 2022 has some good products coming under the umbrella of Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO.

 

Srixon - Major ball releases. You already saw the new Q-Star hitting the shelves with more releases coming soon. 

 

Cleveland - Huge releases late in 2021 with the Launcher XL and Halo lines. They also just released the CBX ZipCore and they have something else in the game improvement wedges as well. You may also see some additional finishes coming soon in other lines as well.

 

XXIO - Should have the major iron release in early 2022 due to the fact that the XI are all but gone. Look for a full refresh in their lineup this year. 

 

Overall, the biggest issues with anything right now are shipping costs and supply chain issues. Shafts and grips are going to be hard to come by - so look for paying for premium shafts if you want your custom orders sooner rather than later. Grip selection is getting tougher as well. Some grips are 6 months out right now and others are discontinued all together. 

 

PS - for those thinking about what the next gen could look like, I would take a long hard look at the ZX7 AW... I'd be shocked if they didn't keep with the lines of that going into the next blade.

I’d be delighted if that was the case. I’m just hoping for a nice simple blade design with the V-sole, and for it to be released before I lose patience..!
