This is the best comment in this entire thread. Don’t overthink the v sole. It’s totally fine no matter your AoA / path. Check your lofts and lies and hit them. They are as good as they come for a players CB iron.

i started with the 745, then to 765 and then now to zx5 and have compared them to everything being an iron/shaft ho and they are simply the best. Not a chance Srixon would make an iron that just works for diggers and have the sole not work at all for sweepers. This sole and club is good for everyone.

While I agreed to an extent, shallower players tend to have low point closer to the ball and tend to present a bit more dynamic loft. ** I'm talking about decent-good players - this is absolutely not always the case and I'm not referring to over the top slicing hacks as there are tons of people that hit down on it with high dynamic loft. 

 

If you watch some TXG content you can see why the V sole can affect some player's delivery in a negative way. I believe there are players that it is very literally game changing for. In general though, I maintain it is better for steeper players who tend to trap it a bit.

I am guessing new irons may be coming soon. Just added AW to my Zx5 set. Only AW my fitter could find was from the Srixon rep.

Those commenting need to either read the previous posts or pay attention.  Srixon is on a full release cycle and by marking down their woods indicates they are clearing inventory for new product in Q4..... They should release new Woods and then new Irons around the end of the Calendar year.

I never thought I'd be able to replace my Bridgestone J40 CB's until I found the Srixon Z745's. Guess I have a type...

Single piece forged irons are becoming extinct.... Endo forged irons are just different and in my opinion king !

Me too, trying to replace my Bridgestone J40 as well, but nothing comes close. 

 

Had 745, 765,565, 965. But the Bridgestones just looks way better at adress.

 

The ZX7 Irons look better from Adress than the 745, 765, 785

Obviously subjective and I haven't put them side by side, but IMO the ZX7 looks longer heel to toe, slightly rounder toe and thicker topline than 745. Also seemed like a little bit more offset. I still think they look good and do like the thinner sole, but haven't hit them off turf, just mats. 

 

FWIW I was really excited for the ZX7 release(just as excited for the upcoming release) but went out and bought a 2nd set of 745's after demoing the ZX7.

 

Definitely sparked my interest in the J40 though.

My sentiment as well.  I wouldn’t be mad if they trimmed the top line a hair and had a little more spin than ZX7.  That being said ZX7 is still the best iron I’ve ever played.  Looks feel all that.

At address the ZForged looks extremely similar to the J40

I find the Zforged to look bigger overall than J40. But closest in the Srixon line

Are you positive on the timeline? I thought I remembered we saw the clubs in Aug/Sept with a release Sept/Oct. I could be wrong, i just remember Srixon and Mizuno always had the late summer/ early fall releases pre-covid. 
 

I wouldn’t be surprised if covid/ supply chain stuff messes up the timing no matter what the historical release schedule was though.

 Yep. I remember stuff coming out in the press about the irons in the back half of august 2020.

I'm excited to see what replaces the ZX5 & ZX7 Irons...   I grabbed a current ZX Fairway 5 wood from a Pro that's on the forum for a great deal and it looks fantastic.
