If they trim down top line a bit and either improve offset blending or reduce overall offset I think they will start to destroy the big boys

I think that might move them too far out of the market they’re in. Where as now the zx7 is liked by a wide variety of handicaps (more forgiving players iron and decent mid-cap iron and blendable if you need extra forgiveness). If they go the route of trimming it down, that  might alienate a lot of the mid-handicaps. And I don’t know if the smaller/mid size brand would want to lose the market share.

The z forged, might be the route for you.  It’s definitely the most forgiving blade I’ve tried. Hopefully they refresh to align the badge visually with this line.

I understand what @DonOmar is asserting here.  Titleist went from the 714 AP2 that nearly offered Ping G series iplayability in a mid-size chassis - and that tour pros were winning majors with - and passed through 718 AP2 (still comfortable for most) to the T100 series which basically look like MBs from address.

However, I’m with @TigerintheWoods on this one.  A little off the top rail (even just rounding it some…) and a touch of blending the offset in the mid irons isn’t going to scare anybody away.  They’ve got plenty to work with before they reach AP2 -> T100 territory.

In any case, I’ve just placed an order for a second set with a slightly different shaft (and added 6i) so I don’t care what they do.  As a basically ‘neutral’ launch/spin guy whose most common miss leads to excess launch/spin, ZX7 is perfect for me and I won’t be interested in new irons for quite some time…

I am curious what they do moving forward with Iron technology.  Will they go the route of making more player hollow body irons like Mizuno , TM and others?  They

have the capability with the ZX4 so I see them making a more player profile version of these but I'm a fan of single piece forged cavity back irons but I know the

benefits of multi-piece construction. I would love to see something similar to the Titleist T-100S with a Srixon ZX7 size.

I played srixon for the last 3 years. Until this season I switched to miura. I am a fan of the brand. They are a forgiving players irons that look great. I just don’t love the sole. I think making something without would increase their share of sales. I could be wrong. I am out of the market, but rootfor these. I love the brand

I agree. The ZX7’s feel great but the sole is not the best for me.  Still looking forward to seeing the ZX7/5 replacement.

I’m putting a ZX Utility in play for the first time on Wednesday.

I have been playing ZX7 Irons since they were released and I have to say I'm still not sure about the V Sole. I think I made better contact with the pre worn leading edge with the OnOff Kuro Irons I used to play.  I sold them ( actually sold 4-5 sets over the years ) and I probably need the extra forgiveness.

Maybe the 2023 offering will be different but I think Srixon is invested in the V Sole.

Bought a ZX7 for my son, after 18 rounds of golf, 14 months of ownership, he hit off the tee and the club head exploded into two pieces. One year warranty has expired, $750 bucks down the drain. I have never seen such a thing happen to a club head. I have seen the head separate from the shaft, or the shaft break in two, but not a driver head explode into pieces. My son only weighs 165lbs wet not like he is a body builder. Guess I got as dud and Srixon won’t even return my emails or calls.

Try going through an authorized retailer, you may have better luck.

Sweeper. Steep does better

I don't like the word steep. It's the opposite of shallow. IMO it's more about what divot you take and angle of attack. I prefer to take a light to medium divot and strive to be shallow with negative AOA and they work great for me.

i dont believe the Srixon irons are suited to just one range of players. I am a sweeper and my playing partner is overly steep and we both love them

I practice and sometimes play rounds with a set of 745s. Legendary irons and I do not believe the ZX7 is better, though it may be just as good. Indeed, in the ZX7, Srixon went back to the heel and toe notches on the sole that are on the 745. They couldn’t get their pros to leave the 745 until this series. To me they are almost the same club but the cleaner cavity look of the 745 is hard to beat. V-sole is fine on proper swings. Heck, I play a ZX4 4 iron and it does not feel any different through the turf than the 745. It is a sole that if I hang back or flip at all, I can be prone to catching the ball a few grooves low. Still will get decent distance.

But for anyone who loves the ZX7 and wants a club with a very similar size, a beveled leading edge and less bounce, the New Level 902-PD is a club worth checking out. The feel between the two clubs is the same, both are soft forgings. The turf interaction with the New Levels is more like a Mizuno sole and is awesome off tight lies.
