Anything new with Srixon 2022

Recommended Posts

I didn't like the ZX7 until I saw it in person. I have a feeling this will be the same. I'm intrigued by the better transition with combo sets.

I'm curious what about the mark 2 that makes for a better transition?

I have to agree with @Red4282 on this one... I do really hope that it looks better in person/ when colour photos come out, because the OG ZX7's look way better/cutting edge/modern to MY EYE vs. these new MK2's... Also, as someone already mentioned and most of you are thinking, that the new ZX Utility looks pretty much like a last generation P790... I'm a huge Srixon fan, so i'll reserve final judgement until I see better photos, but if this is really it, I might be picking up a cheaper set of OG ZX7's... nothing against those who love the new looks, but cumon, you can't be serious

Your comments are exactly why Manufacturers try to keep " Prototype" and unofficial photos under wraps until Launch date. These photos probably don't do the actually product justice so although they are probably close to what's coming the actually product could vary.  If not move along and find something you like.

What does this even mean?  You say that it doesn't appeal to your eye, yet others cannot like it just because you don't?

Your over-reactions to the blade pictures a few pages back was pretty telling...

Can't say I prefer the new ZX Utility MKII in looks over the current ZX Utility but I certainly don't hate it.  I do however want to see what they say is different about the new version compared to the current version.  I've got the Srixon ZX, Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi, and Titleist T200 utility irons and for me the Srixon ZX performs best.  Can't imagine what the newer version will do any differently but look forward to reading the release info.

@Puttersaurus Rex Like I said in my post, it's just my personal opinion so don't get your panties in a bundle... I'm just voicing my opinion on it... Do I wish it was more of a subtle refinement of the current ZX line... yes of course... I also stated that I'd reserve judgement until real coloured in-hand photos pop up, so just relax... I'd definitely put these on the radar to test out and include on my next fitting, just saying I'm not crazy on the looks... sort of hard to beat the OG ZX on looks to be honest, but if they perform decently better then who knows, might just take the plunge, I do love the feel of Srixons after all, especially at their lower price point.

The photo of the ZX7 MK II looks as if it's NOT a single piece Forging but rather a Multi-Piece design like the ZX5.  The " Pure Frame " would have me believe they

use a different material for the face and body.

Does this mean there are no ZX4 MK2 this year?

Others here have seen the ZX4ii and say they are slimmed down quite a bit and in line with the sizing on the current zx5.

That is correct. ZX4 is slimmer but still larger than ZX5.

For comparison. I'm sure the Mk ii will look much better once we see color photos.

definitely agree. zx7 mkii is more streamlined. I would move the mkii to the hosel, and remove "pureframe" altogether, for a cleaner look.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing a couple of days ago. I don't see why they etched those on the back of the iron; as you said, those can go on the hosel. It seems cluttered, but if it's in a grey color and subtle enough, it's not a big issue. The clean look of the OG is really appealing to me, but again, it's only aesthetics we're talking about here.

I've always liked the "less is more" approach to design. Many OEMs in golf go to the other extreme, thinking it will attract buyers (it does attract the one round a month normies a lot of the time), and I see it in mechanical watches too. I'll take a Submariner (no date) over an MB&F any day (that is, if I had to keep and wear, and not sell :P).

4.3 mm in the 4 iron down to 2.3 in the AW.  For reference the ZX7 4 iron is 3.3 mm and the ZX5 is 4.0.  All of the Utilities are 3.5 mm offset.

It looks to me that the ZX7 MKII irons will have less material out toward the toe, so CG maybe a little closer to the heel than the OG ZX7. Obviously just a guess.

As the owner of a lifelong toe-side miss I'm not sure I like the idea of that. I do think the new ones look better though.
