Best Golf Movies!

I’m wondering what you guys think the best golf movies are. I haven’t seen very many, and I’m lookin for a good one to watch! Thanks!

Okay outside Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore which are humorous, that isn’t a great serious golf movie period. I watched The Greatest Game ever Played, Bagger Vance, Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius , etc. They are corny and mediocre at best. They turned The Greatest Game into a class war movie that the book never did. Not saying it didn’t exist but Ouimet was well liked by the snobs at Brookline . Bobby Jones story was like watching Follow the Sun on Hogan, let’s cover up anything that might tarnish a golf god on a pedestal approach.  I’d love to see Curt Sampson’s book on the Masters to be made into a movie but will never happen.

Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore are clearly the best movies in terms of wide audience acceptance. Happy Gilmore was basically the modern Caddyshack. Both are very funny comedies

 

Tin Cup has a certain charm. It's by no means a great movie but it really tries at the golf. Like any golfer can watch it and enjoy it a bit. Non golfers a bit less because the romance side plot is a bit meh

 

Everything else mostly sucks.

 

"The Squeeze" was terrible as a movie but the golf was OK, apparently the lead actor is a legit good golfer and really made all of those swings etc..so it looked authentic. I know the girl was hot but unless you don't have the internet you can see hot girls literally whenever you want. It was comically folksy, and the last part of it was just awful. LOL the college phenom he plays against looks (and is) like 35 years old. And this college phenom just happens to chum around with murdering mafia bosses? He doesn't have any advisers? I don't think Ryan Moore was doing that in college

My favorite is Happy Gilmore. Also, go check out Robin Williams' comedy skit on golf. Pretty gold.

I saw “The Phantom of the Open” last night. It is the story of Maurice Flitcraft, the golfer that posed as a pro to play in the British Open qualifier in 1976 and beyond. It is well made, funny and worth seeing.

... Legend of Bagger Vance is not only my favorite golf movie, but one of my favorite movies period. Love the book as well. Matt Damon has the weakest swing but still borders on the believable. Gretsch as Jones is dead on for both the swing and portrait if the man. McGill as Hagen also has a good swing and captures the character. And the love story is a nice piece of the puzzle without being distracting. I have been played up with a sinus infection and just watched it again last night and still as amazing as the fist time I saw it. 

... I hated Tin Cup the first time I saw it because the original preview made it look like a movie about the US Open and the course/crowd would barely qualify as a Korn Ferry stop. But viewing it with that knowledge a 2nd time as a buddy movie with some good golf it is crazy entertaining.
