Tell me about your 7 wood.

Purchased a 21* Epic Speed today, off the clearance rack, pulled out the noodle shaft that was in it, and put in an old Oban Kiyoshi purple 85x. I tipped it about 1 1/2”, and it’s currently on the drying rack ….. anxious to throw a grip on it and see what happens …..

I want you to know that I blame all of YOU, after reading this thread for the past few days 😂😂

TSi2 with a 9X Ventus Red. It really keeps my tempo in check when I start overswinging my longer clubs. Also fantastic for getting out of a rut of bad drives.

SIM 9* w/ Ventus Black 6X

TSi3 16.5* w/ Ventus Red 8X tipped 1.5"

Apex '21 4-6 w/ Elevate Tour S (2* weak)

Last year I built up a SIM Max 21* with an Aldila Rogue White 80TX at 40.5”.  It’s a wildly fun club to hit…. 240-250 yard moonballs!

Unfortunately, that’s not a shot that I really need at my home course.  It’s also not great in the wind… So most of the time I leave it in the basement.  But great fun on the driving range and has had a few clutch moments when the conditions and course called for it!

I just moved into a 7 wood to try and better fill the spot between 3 wood and 4 iron.  I had been playing a P770 3 iron built as more of a driving iron with a Nippon GOST shaft.

I went with the TSI2 7 wood, turn down to 20.75 with the Tensei AV Raw White 85 TX 2.0 (tipped at 1.5” and just playing standard Titleist length). It’s been the easiest to hit club I’ve ever owned. I bought it for a 240 shot and it does exactly that, I can throw it up in the air and land and hold a green.

Agree that the TSi2 7 Wood is really easy to hit consistently and quite capable of holding greens from 200+ yards out.

I am strongly thinking about getting a PXG 7 wood and 5 wood turned up to 19.5 and 16.5 vs the 3 (15*) and 5 (18*) woods I have now, hmmm.

Haywood 1 with Hzrdus Black RDX 70

Haywood 3W

Haywood 18* driving iron

Haywood MB irons 3-PW

Mitsubishi Kuro Kage 80g iron shafts

Haywood 52/10 and 56/12 wedges

Haywood mid mallet putter

I really think it will work my gapping better. I will get a 7 wood to try and go from there.

I have not played a 3wood in many years. Always had a 4wood now those are basically a 5wood and it like it. Last season was my first year with the 7wood wish I found it sooner.
you will enjoy the 7wood for sure

I’m tinkering with a couple 7 woods in hopes of having something I can hit high and soft from 220+. I think by far I’ve liked the PING G425 7 wood the best. The lowest loft setting really opens the face and gives me a great look at address. Biggest issue I’ve found is that most manufacturers are going to produce 7 woods with a little more upright lie angle and shut face which makes sense for the masses. Have you played around with higher lofted fairway woods and what did you go with?

PING G425 20.5  set to “Big -“ w/ Diamana Kai’li 80x tipped 1.5” @41”

Three clubs that can theoretically go in that spot.

Main Club:  Cobra King TEC hybrid at 17*, Ventus Blue 9 shaft

7 wood: TS2 21* on a UST Mamaiya Black 80 gram(Turned open and flat)

2 iron: Srixon ZXU 18* Utility on Recoil 110

I get the most use out of the hybrid, because it goes higher than the 2 iron and I can approach some greens with it.   The 7 wood is the next most used, because anywhere with longer par5's It lands super soft on the greens, it is very difficult to hit a low shot with it though.

2 iron I have used a bunch previously, but after wrist surgery and a change in delivery it is not as useful anymore except off of the teebox, so it is really a one trick pony.

Did that late last year - found one on CPO with an Aldila Rogue 130 MSI 80g X Flex so snagged it.  I'm still deciding... wish I could bump it down one degree of loft.  Eventually I'm going to order a UW to compare it to.

I play a Cobra F9 7/8w at 22.5 degrees, with a Tensei AV Raw Blue 75TX shaft playing 42.75.

By far my favorite club in the bag. 130-210  plus some bump and runs, it covers all the shots.

Chip shot - 130-140

1/2 swing about 165-175

3/4 swing 185-195

Full swing 205-210

youre hitting a 21 degree fairway 205-210 and you use a TX shaft? Seems like you’re leaving lots of yards on the table

i play stiff and I can easily hit a 7w 210

It works for my gapping.  I play driver, 3w, 3H and 7w.  I find the stiffer TX shaft is better for my partial shots. Don't forget shaft flex plays in to the yardage and dispersion as well.

He's also using this club for more shots than full 90% of the time I assume. So it becomes a weight issue to keep his swing in line, for all those less than 90% shots. I use my 5h in this sense as well- you get me between 135-165 & I'm thinking a partial 5h isn't that bad of an idea.

Besides a full 210yd 7wd isn't slouching distance wise imo

Didn't read the whole thread but I built a TS2 7 wood (21*) with a Rombax P95x. I play it about half an inch short of standard, like I do with all of my woods. This thing is a freaking rocket launcher. I have seriously considered dropping my 4 wood because I hit this one so good off the tee and from the fairway.

Cobra Radspeed 7 wood.  Nice high launch and soft landing. Replaced my 3 hybrid.

What shaft came in that club? I just ordered one with the riptide cb in it. Hoping it will work if it doesn't then I will make a trip to Golfworks and get something heavier. Glad to hear this club works well. I am looking for something easy to hit and it isn't for distance.
