Tell me about your 7 wood.

I like to think of my 19* Sim2 as a 7 wood. I play it 1 click up at 19.75 and at 41.5 inches. It’s easy to hit and fills the gap I need it to.

All Titleist 7 woods are great.

I loved my 917 F2. On the spinnier side, but stopped on a dime. Hit it about 220-225 and it would stop on a dime. Nice feel.

The Ping G425 7 wood was nice (played it with Ventus Blue 7x) but almost too hot. Started to bleed into my other woods.

I have a Callaway Epic Flash 7 wood with a UST Attas 4U 8S shaft, a Titleist 904F with DG S300, a couple Callaway Warbirds with Memphis 10, and a couple of Acer 7 woods that I bought the heads from Hireko for only $5 each.  They're all really good clubs and I enjoy using all of them, especially the Epic Flash and 904F.

Been looking at the Sim/Sim2 Ti 19 as a replacement for my Fly Z+ at 19*, also played at 41.5”. Need it to gap between my 4w and 4 utility, but I’ve been a little concerned about it possibly being too hot. See a lot of guys turning the Sim Ti loft down into 4w territory, but not too many comments about lofting up.

Played original Callaway Steelhead 7w (20*) and 9w (24*) with DGX100 Lite steel shafts for over 20 years and took more than my fair share of abuse when I first started playing them.

Switched to a TaylorMade SIM Max 7w with Velocore Red 7s @ 41.5” and SIM Max 9w with Diamana D+ 80s @ 40.75” at the end of this past season to try and get back to my 220 yard 7w and 200 yard 9w distances and I was very pleasantly surprised with both.

Never got along with hybrids or driving irons.  Just hit fairway woods much better.

I’m still playing the original Callaway Steelhead 7 wood with the steel shaft. I was thinking to upgrading this year to an Epic Flash.

I was also thinking of getting an Epic Flash Sub Zero 5 wood and playing it at 20 degrees.

Are you happy you switched to a more modern 7 wood from the old steelhead?

PING g410 7 wood turned down all the way.  Looks nice and flat.  Also, using a 5 wood length Tensei Pro Orange.  Great combo.  It’s the club I go to if I need one out there in the fairway.  Total confidence thing.  220 carry.  Only issue I have with a 7wood is the wind.  Can absolutely get chewed up into the wind.  That’s what the 21*  UT is for.  It’s important to tailor your bag to your home course.  What do you need for all the shots you will face.

I really would prefer the 425 7 wood.  To me it just looks way better

I originally had the SIM2 TI 5 wood before going to my current 7 wood. I loved everything about it but it was just too long (I had it turned down one notch with a 1.5 degree adapter to get the face angle I wanted).  Played it at a shade under 42, maybe 41.75 with a 90TX shaft.

I agree with others on Titleist. They look the squarest once you turn them down. I have a 917 that’s currently in my 14 year old bag with a diamana s+ 70 and a TS2 in mine with a fuji pro tour spec 84. 225 all day with a high soft flight. I have found 7 woods to be totally shaft dependent. You have to either order it with what you want or build it yourself. There is no off the rack for 7 wood players with speed. But you can also find cheap 7 woods on the bay with garbage shafts in them that you will replace anyway.

i tried it with the original Sim and it looked really closed to me lofted up. Also it had a pretty big profile. The Sim2 lofted up looks much more square to me and has a much smaller profile. The Sim2 also launches a little higher and has a little more spin for me.

Playing it shorter has helped with my gapping. I originally tried it at stock 42.25 and it was going way too far. Shortening it to 41.5 and a couple shaft changes has helped me dial it in. It’s a pretty versatile club for me. The big positive I get from it is if a need the extra few yards I know it’s there with the Sim.

Mavirik Max bone stock with an Evenflow in R flex. Just like the matching 5w, just straight money. So easy to hit and goes where I want it. After struggling with 4 hybrids of all flavors over the years, I'm never going back. Not as versatile as my GAPR 5h, but that's why I have the GAPR.

Yes, I am 54 this year and lost some distance with the Steelhead’s over the last few years but kept playing them as they are easy to elevate, fly straight and generally do what I expect.

The TM fairways do that as well just get me back to the distance gaps I wanted.

SIM Max heads are larger so you can miss the center and still get acceptable results.

That being said, my Steehead 4+, 7w and 9w are not going anywhere as they have limited value and if nothing else give the current fairway woods reason to behave or the Steelheads would go back in the bag.

Picked up a new old stock Tour Edge XCG7 21 degree 7 wood with the stock Fujikura Fuel 60 S shaft a couple of years ago for cheap.

It now has over 400 rounds in play and is getting a little beat up.

The easiest fairway wood I’ve ever hit off the deck and also good off the tee.  According to Arccos Smart Distance is 209 yards.

54 yrs old, 100 mph driver swing speed.

Callaway razr fit xtreme, bought it used a few years back, put a hazardous shaft in it.

Slightly bigger than most newer hybrid, smaller than newer fairway woods, easy to launch but doesn't balloon.  Great off the tee, fairway, out of the rough is easy too.

Was looking to replace it this off season but decided it's not worth the money when it does exactly what I want it to do....I replaces most of the rest of my bag this winter but the 7wd stays

Well, for starters there are only like 4 lefty 7 woods in existence. So if one of those works, score!

There are several out there, you just have to dig a little.  And it's likely you're going to get one with a ladies or senior flex shaft and have to put your own shaft in it.

If you go back 2 decades, yes there are more than 4. But as far as current releases, I think it's at 4, maybe 5 if you look at KZG or some other boutique shop.

Where did you get the G410? I can’t seem to find one online.

I found a G410 7 wood head here on the forum (I'm retired so I have time to lurk - they come up sporadically), then added a shaft from fleabay ...
