Anyone how with the tsr2 in 8 degree?

coming from epic max ls 10.5 lofted down with hzrdus smoke rdx 6.5 I’m thinking about the 8 or 9 in the 2.

still a couple months away from touching club recovering from wrist tfcc surgery. The ideal lineup I’m thinking of for me as a great post surgery treat could be tsr2 8 or 9 , tsr3 15 , tsr2 18 then Srixon zx 4 iron

cheers

Got fitted for all the major driver heads yesterday and the clear favorite for me was the TSR2.  Hated the dull feel of the stealth2. Felt like I was swinging a lunchbox. Runner up with the Paradigm which felt like in between the TSR feel and stealth. A bit too clickish off the face for my liking.

Got fitted for TSR2 9.0 degrees set at 8.25/D2 with Ventus black 6x.

Now I’m wondering what a good 3 wood option would be to match. I don’t hit my current 3 wood well at all. Do most people get matching shafts for their driver and 3 wood? I’m sure the safest thing to do is get fit, but was looking to maybe try to buy used for the 3 wood to cut down on cost.

Go with the 8*, if you naturally have a mid ball flight or higher.  I play the TSR2 in 8*.  I found that it launched like the TSR3 9*, kept the spin low, and was more forgiving than TSR3.  I’ve had it in bag since October- great driver!

What shaft did you go with. I hit the ball in nice mid/high window with the max ls 10 lofted down and hzrdus black 6.5

That looks great. Is that 85g tx and no up charge?  Might me magic in my hypothetical ts2 18 I want. Might be just the thing to knock my Nike vr pro limited with blue board 83 out of bag. Have loved that thing but think the ts2 would be an upgrade

Yep. The 85TX is no upcharge.

How do you feel it plays versus a standard x flex

I don’t know yet. I live in snowy Minnesota. I didn’t go in for a fitting or anything. I will be getting on a simulator this week and hope to get a few swings with it. I tried the 65x driver shaft a while back and it was ok. Didn’t blow me away or anything. Seemed to lack the feel of other shafts I have been playing (ventus and ventus tr, diamana gt). I don’t expect this to necessarily feel the same those either. As long as the numbers align I’ll be fine with it for now. I have a feeling I’ll end up throwing something else in there just because. I had a lot of luck with the OG Ventus red in my last 7w. So who knows.

I got it with Tensei Black, but had no real intentions of using it.  I have a Diamana TB 60x that use for Driver.  Sometimes mix in a Tour AD HD. I generally don’t get along with stiffer midsection profiles.

Well it's officially a Titleist sweep at the top of my bag this year. After a bunch of testing and my negative angle of attack I settled on:

- TSR3 10⁰ with ventus black 6x tipped 1"

- TSR3 16.5⁰ with ventus blue tr 8x tipped 1.5"

- TSR2 21⁰ with ventus blue tr 8x tipped 2"

All set to C1...I am pumped about this setup. I can see what the hype has been about.

How do the TB and HD compare for you? I love both shafts but have never had them at the same time to compare head to head.

They are pretty similar. I feel like the HD has a little more action/kick overall.  I might be a few yards longer with HD, but the TB has tighter dispersion overall. Never had them on a launch monitor, but spin and launch seems similar, HD maybe slightly higher launch.

I went for a Driver fitting over the weekend and the TSR2 was clearly the best for me. Tried the new Ping and Taylormade compared to the Rogue ST MAX LS, I had been using but frankly struggling with a little. TSR2 was better for me than the TSR3. Best shaft was the GD Tour DI.  Before the fitting, I would have never considered a Titleist driver but am very excited about the results.

Hit TSR2 and 3.  The misses with the 2 were AWFUL.  Toe miss, high-spinny hooks with Ventus 7-x.  I think we hit 3 and we were done with it.

TSR3 was the move, and we were testing with Ventus 7-x at 45.25".  I was pleasantly surprised that even though I didn't have my best contact, we were getting great results.

Shaft felt a little "loose" and he said he'd probably only tipped it about 1/4".  So I'm thinking we go to Ventus Black TR and tip 1/2".

Again, was surprised at ball speeds with this head even without the best contact at 45.25".  I think I'm going to go with that length in the end.

No surprise you hit tsr2 left. At your speed, just a tiny bit of deflection could easily cause that. Tsr2, with that weight back...greater shaft deflection.

You seem to be like me, need CoG a bit forward.

I wanted to hit TSR4 too, but I guess he didn't have the head.  I was pretty happy though.

Put this combo together and was able to take it out for the first time. After a couple holes I had it dialed in and it performed amazingly. Played a course I’ve played over 100 times and on a couple holes I hit places I’ve never hit before. I was blown away because it was a cold and windy day. I can’t wait for it to warm up.

If anyone here is fit for a ventus black 6x in the driver, what do they have fitted in their fairway wood. Do people usually go like 7x?

I'd say that is most common, with some people keeping the same type (i.e. all Ventus black) whereas others may change it (i.e. black in driver the blue for FW). Depends on the person. And of course, there are some like all the same weight throughout, but is probably less common.

For example a common set up is:

Driver- 6X

3w- 7X

5w- 7 or 8X

Thanks that is super helpful.

I am tempted by the TSR 2+ Fairway Wood, but Id like to be able to hit it off the fairway so probably should get the standard 3W.

The lower launch + the red definitely does make some sense if you want to hit it more off the fairway than just strictly off the tee.

Just seems like such a great club and everyone is raving on it, but Id need to be able to hit it off the fairway.

Some people have been able to launch it fine off the FW, but in general the 15* is probably more suited to this. Of course never know until you hit them!

TSR2 on order today and it’s the first time iv bought a “forgiving” driver model.

The 2 model is Unreal this year and I personally think it’s been bad in comparison to other OEM releases year on year.

However - the shape is much improved but the performance is unparalleled.

avg SS 107mph and I hit up between 6-7 degrees on the ball. The stock HZRDUS is butter smooth and waaay different than previous black models. Easier to load but never gets whippy at release. The 60g 6.5 was very consistent and manageable. Ball speed and spin was mid 150s and around 1900-2000.

just love how the spin or ball speed never deviates on poorer strikes. It’s crazy.

Carry was 270 rolling out to near 300 which is big for me.

it’s the most stable club iv hit that can still keep spin low. Just a straight ball flight and insane front to back dispersion.

very impressed and it’s fun to be back in titleist. Love my Mavrik Sub zero 3 wood but tempted to try the FWs now 😀

Paradym TD was a very close second however. That club is seriously going to smash everything this year for those chasing distance. Surprising forgiving
