Titleist TSR2, TSR3 & TSR4 driver & TSR2, TSR2+ & TSR3 3 wood - 2022 Travelers

That’s what I’m thinking. Power is still a + attribute for me but I’ve never been very consistent with the driver. Im stuck at 8.0 so ballstriking can really vary for me.

I think I had a pretty damn good season with Stealth Plus though, so I don’t need anything too crazy forgiving.

Is the TSR2 draw biased?  I am looking at the 3 due to ball striking, but curious about the 2's forgiveness.  I play a cut so for me a draw bias is a hook machine.  Also, my length is 44.75", what would I need to do with SW?

Thanks

I don’t find TSR2 to be draw biased. I hate a hook. I play my TSR2 in B1 hosel setting (standard loft and 0.75° flat) and if I hit anything left it it generally due to the swing I put on it or I hit the ball out of the toe.

Yeah I'd be curious to see how much ball speed is gained from the TSr3 vs TSr2 if hitting around the sweet spot. If minimal or not enough to give you a significant advantage, prob best to use a 2 for us mortals that will hit outside of the center at times.

The difference in speed between the two will be the same as the difference in forgiveness: indistinguishable without a launch monitor. Few yards further versus a few yards offline.

People think forgiveness is this magical thing that makes terrible swings hit the fairway. Its just slightly preventing the club from twisting as much and saving a little sidespin. It doesn't fix face to path, it doesn't fix roll and bulge, and contrary to popular belief MOI has nothing to do with speed retained off the face (directly, obviously less sidespin can net you yardage).

I just am not finding the 3 much less forgiving at all over the 2. It has to do with my swing and strike location and how the driver is set up. The TSi2 was completely different for me and I think it is definitely more forgiving than the 3 and even the new R2. You just have to get fit and gain trust in the driver.

I demoed both and the TSR3 won. Most courses around here favor a fade, so I need to be able to play that shot. TSR3's default shot shape was a fade for me.

I don't think TSR2 was draw biased per se. It was easier to turn over, and less likely to go right.  But given the courses I play (see above), TSR3 wound up in my bag.

I was hoping for some other shots as those were the ones I was having trouble judging by.

They always end up looking a little different in person anyway, I should just be patient but then I wouldn't be a true WRXer 😅

Speedzone Tour is my favourite fairway from the turf, however it’s too small and shallow for my liking from the tee - which makes it just a bag ornament on the shorter courses.

The Sim2 Ti rocket has been sold…

Had no feel with it. Didn’t seem great off the turf, and off the tee I didn’t know where it was going. When I clipped it good, it also didn’t seem the longest. Happy it’s gone.

The tsr2+ seems to be the best of both worlds. For its size, it’s so easy off the turf. And it’s a great tee club. Just feels really easy, everywhere. I wouldn’t say it’s the longest 3 wood I’ve hit, but I didn’t have a great shaft fit in it. Was spinning mid-3000s, and typically like a lower spin 3 wood, around the 3000 mark. Just reshafted it last night. Hoping my 3 wood quest is forever over…lol.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback.

I had a weird experience in a fitting recently — but I’m also working on some swing changes and am chalking a lot of this up to poor performance/inconsistent strikes on my part that day.

I was hitting the TSR2+ almost exactly as high as the TSR2 15* (105ish feet) … but not getting any more distance out of it. Both were spinning around 3000. They were somehow performing like the same club. The TSR3 15* meanwhile was actually spinning higher at about 3500 and going a few yards shorter at the same peak height, presumably because of the spin.

I think the TSR2+ is ideal for me though because 3W is mostly a secondary tee club for me, and it’s just super forgiving and confidence-inspiring. I think if I get it dialed in, I can get a bit more out of it.

The more I read here the more I’m inclined to just get a TSR2 head, hot melt it, and have a battle between the two heads. First impression of the TSR3 was really nice compared to my Stealth Plus but next season I’m not going to be playing much. A friendly driver head sounds appealing.

I’d love to see the comparison between a TSR3/TR Red versus a TSR2/TR Black combo.

I think I'm going to spring for this experiment and sort out the winner through lots of winter simulator time. My TSR3 head is 9*, now I'm trying to figure out if an 8* head in the TSR2 would be the one to try. First testing with the TSR3 has spin in the 2500-2600 range.

I went from TSI3 9 degree to TSR2 8 and am very happy so far, although I don't have any launch monitor data. Same shafts in both, original whiteboard 73s. For what it's worth, TSR2 is very forgiving and just as long for me...

Coming off of TS3 and then TSi3, which I both pretty much loved, I'm intrigued by the TSR2.  I'm a mid-high 110s swing speed, and scratch.  However, I hit the driver consistently inconsistent, most misses a little on the toe, and a bit high.  I've always looked for a low torque / low spin shaft to minimize dispersion on this strike pattern, which I'll continue to do, but..  I'm thinking TSR2 may help me here.  I don't know that there will ever be a day that I hit 5 drives and they're all near the sweet spot.

Anyone with this swing speed and strike pattern playing TSR2?

I'm going to try them both, but a forgiving head that hits bombs is what I'm looking for.  I don't need workability.

That pretty much fits my driver swing. Toe side contact at times. Roughly same speed. When I tested the tsr2 I found that the spin was a lot higher than I’d like (low 3k). Tsr3 had me in the 2300-2500 range.

That's my worry is the spin..  figured I'd need to play it at 6.75* to counter-act, but..  who knows.

Same shaft you tested on both?  What shaft was it?

Was just the stock tensei black. 65x. 9° in both heads. The funny thing is that the tsr4 was almost as high spin for me lol. Has to be the toe side miss.

Now that's definitely interesting.  Figure TSR4 would be spin killer.

Been wondering about that Tensei 1k Black shaft I've seen in stores.  I'm coming off Smoke Green Hulk 60g 6.5TX in a Cally TD LS.  I've never hit straighter drives, but shaft is too stout for me (hard to believe in 60g), and I lost distance.  Sold that thing and currently driverless, but always loved the Titleist heads, so, TSR is a go.

Oh I was pretty shocked haha. Took me a while to wrap my brain around it. Kind of settled on the idea of me just missing towards the toe that day. The tsr2 and tsr4 share the same face design and tsr3 is different. So I assume they react differently to that strike pattern.

If you go in and test them out I’d be really interested in how it goes for you. Curious if it was a me thing or if it holds true for others.

As far as the tensei. I wasn’t wowed by it I guess. But, I pretty much planned on putting the diamana gt in it anyhow.

@dbornack Everything I've been reading on the 1K Black is that it's pretty stout. Your swing speed suggests it might work out, but prob depends on your tempo, as in if smoother it might not be what you like. People I've talked to on the TSr3 say as long as your off-center hits are consistent you can just adjust that sweet spot track towards the toe. I'll probably go TSr3 for the lower launch/spin, but def going to try testing the TSr2 as well.

I don’t find TSR2 to be draw biased. I hate a hook. I play my TSR2 in B1 hosel setting (standard loft and 0.75° flat) and if I hit anything left it it generally due to the swing I put on it or I hit the ball out of the toe.

Total agreement

i would say as neutral a bias as you will find in anyone’s forgiving driver line

love it Specificaaly for that!!!
