If anyone here is fit for a ventus black 6x in the driver, what do they have fitted in their fairway wood. Do people usually go like 7x?

8 hours ago, Albatross Dreamer said:

I'd say that is most common, with some people keeping the same type (i.e. all Ventus black) whereas others may change it (i.e. black in driver the blue for FW). Depends on the person. And of course, there are some like all the same weight throughout, but is probably less common.

For example a common set up is:

Driver- 6X

3w- 7X

5w- 7 or 8X

I like Black in driver and Red in 3 wood to keep the stiff handle feel.

I have a red 7x on order for the same reason. I like black in driver but the Ventus blue is, IMO, not the logical move for the fairway woods because of the extremely loose handle (at least in the OG version). The OG blue profile feels completely different than black to me.

I play a VB6X in driver.  Currently have a Kai'li White 8TX in my TSR2 5 wood and 7TX in my TSR2+ 3 wood.  I'd say the Kai'li White TX plays a bit on the soft side.  I couldn't get along with the stock Tensei Black 1K.  Results weren't bad, just didn't have the feel i was looking for.,

So how good are the TSR3 fairways? Trying to decide between that and the new Triple Diamond from Cally.

When I hit it the spin was slightly higher on the 2, with distance being slightly shorter (but really close). Forgiveness was fairly similar, but the 2 did tend to stay a little straighter then the 3. So depending how you miss that could be a big difference or not really. Both are awesome though depending what you're looking for, and the shaft will also affect these variables as well.

This seems to be the consensus on 1K Black.  Very stable shaft, but not in the same ballpark as 1K White or Orange from a feel perspective.

For those that ordered the TSR driver at 45", did you have Titleist adjust the weight to keep SW consistent?

Agree. I have the 1K white and love the feel. Tested a TSR3 with the 1K black and loved the driver head but shaft felt softer to me when I thought it should be lower torque. Anyways sticking with the Rogue Max LS for now.

I bought the tsr3 and man it is sweet when you hit it on the button… but it gets squirrely QUICK if you miss off the toe and super spinny low on the face.

I still feel the TSr4 (played as a 3.5) is the dark horse in the lineup this year. I haven’t had this much confidence in my driving in years!! And it’s long! I can’t wait for warmer weather to see what it really can do!

I’d love to hear some comparisons and thoughts on the relative forgiveness — TSR3 vs. TSR2.

I hit the 3 recently pretty extensively and thought it was just incredibly good. That toe weight really helped me straighten things out, and the 3 launched a little lower than my current 2. However, I was having an unusually good day with my swing — what I’ve been working on in lessons was really clicking and I was hitting pretty much everything out of the screws — so I’m afraid it wasn’t quite representative of what I’d see over a larger sample size.

Recently made the switch from TSR2 to TSR3 and wish I had done so much earlier. The TSR3 in my opinion is a little hotter, and just as forgiving assuming decent strikes on both. That being said, I switched from a 9 degree in the 2 to a 10 degree in the 3 and dont feel that the change in loft added any spin whatsoever, rather just added height.

I got fitted for TSR2, and I am still working on my driver. Forgiveness was awesome. I was ignorant and didn't force trying a TSR3. But I do probably need extra forgiveness.

My expectation is that at some point, as I improve, I may test out the TSR3. And hoping at that time, it would be super experience to trade out, but we will see, what happens.

TSR hybrids are in stores as of today for demo. Have been waiting to test TSR2 hybrid since it was announced as I have a 5w and so rarely use it so looking for more versatility in that slot before going to my 4 iron. Like the drivers/woods they did a phenomenal job with this club and after about 10 swings immediately ordered 18 degree hybrid with Tensei AV XLink Blue 75 Stiff.

I have a 9 degree TSR2 with a Tour AD DI which I LOVE. No regrets on upcharge shaft on the driver, but just didn't feel like spending another $200 for hybrid upgrade and always got along with Tensei Series.

Switched from TSI2 to TSR3 this year. TSI2 had a tendency to balloon on me. TSR3 launches in a good window and spin is much more consistent.

For the fairways I thought the TSR2 & 3 were pretty similar in terms of forgiveness. The 2 miiight curve a little less, so depending how you miss that'll make it better or worse. For me personally the choice was really made in terms of shot shape (launch, spin, height, etc). The 3 was within the right window whereas the 2 had some balloon shots so I went with the 3. Honestly yardage on 80+% type of shots weren't that different from what I can tell, the 3 was maybe a little farther by <=5 yards.

Feedback on the 8 degree tsr2 head? Anyone compared one to a 9 degree tsr4 head

I play the 8* TSR2.  It launches similarly to TSR3 9*, spins around the same, but is definitely more forgiving. TSR2 is more forgiving around the whole face. TSR3 drops off in forgiveness fairly significantly the further from the center you get.  Don’t have any experience with the 4.
