So the Open comes to Scotland st Andrews who do we all fancy?

 

Call me crazy but ive been thinking Macintyre hes had 2 top ten in open starts and is the only scott in the field.

Remember when lowry won the open when that was in Royal Portrush?

 

Whos has won or got a good record st Andrews besides Tiger?

Louis Ooshuizen has the best record on paper. 

 

A win and a playoff loss in his last two goes at St Andrews.

So weird that the British Open is the last major of the season.  I'm so used to the PGA being the last major for so long.  So long it's nicknamed "Glory's Last Shot".

St. Andrews is a very open course for an open. Most of the greens are double greens and if you go left on most holes you’re safe. I had the pleasure of living and playing in the town for five years and the old course isn’t even the hardest of the courses on that part. It’s also poor for watching golf in person.

With it being a more forgiving course than most opens I’d go with someone like Spieth. He can afford to be a little wild off the tee there.

I would love to see Tiger pull one out....not sure how likely that is but the Old Course is probably his best chance at this point in his career.

Got my money on Spieth! Hasn't played great in recent weeks but he's currently the best links player in the game and he almost won at St Andrews back in 2015.

Rory breaks the single round scoring record one day and follows that with a plush 78.  Rory battles back almost into contention on Sunday but finishes 4 back and a T5 finish.

First off it's not a ripoff. To this point ST play all season hasn't been good enough to qualify for The Open Championship. Plenty of poor finishes/MC this season that offset his couple of excellent ones.

 

That said he can still qualify at The John Deere this week. There are 3 spots available for those finishing in the top 10 this week that have not previously qualified. If there is a tie for one of the three spots the players current OWGR will be the tie breaker. After his first round (+3, T122) he has some serious work to do. 

 

Edit: He or others can also qualify (if they are eligible) and play The Scottish Open (3 spots available for top 10 finishers). The Barbasol will offer the final spot in the Open as well.

Let’s see if I can follow up my Fitzpatrick pick at the US Open.  It is tough not having idea of the conditions this far out.  Xander back in the winners circle last week gets me thinking he finally wins a major.  I think JT will join him in the last group on Sunday. 

 

If cold and windy Tiger withdraws and finally realizes he needs to hang it up.
