Fujikura Ventus TR - Black & Red

I have had my red tr 8x in my 4 wood for about a week.  It feels like like they stiffened the mid section on the tr.  Not really sure I like it over my regular red 9x

Modified the stealth head a bit weight change , 4g forward , 12 in the back, one click open ~ 333g static weight 

 

TR 7tx blue , monster for me 

 

very low spin low low 2000’s at 119 mph , 13.2 LA , 

 

love my diamana but the TR TX blue just flat performs

Has anyone tried the Black TR 5S or 5X yet? That's the one that has piqued my interest.

When you stiffen the handle section, often the shaft becomes higher launching. Has anyone noticed the TR launching higher than the original? Specifically, I’m interested in the Ventus Black 60x vs Black TR 60x

I’ve gamed both these - OG Black goes a little higher for me.  I can see the stiffer handle section making the TR play differently.

Had a really good day last Wednesday with my TR black. For a shaft that is supposed to be very stiff. It does not feel boardy or harsh in the slightest.

I just put the Black TR 6S in my Rogues ST Max LS and it’s fantastic. I have the Blue TR 6TX I’m planning to install on my 3 wood Rogue LS. Has anyone tried a Ventus of any kind in a driving iron? I want to buy the Red TR and put it into my TM UDI 2 iron.

You can't put the ventus wood shafts in hybrids/irons. There's a seperate ventus HB shaft for that. Only comes in blue and black, variety of flexes.

Black 10TX is very hefty in a 2 iron in my experience.

Blue 9X might be worth checking out

I asked Fuji directly as I have a blue TR 6TX and a Black TR 6S. They told me the TX model is “2 full flexes stiffer than S”. I find that kinda hard to believe though. I can’t tell much of a difference between the two holding one in each hand.

Phil did, and in tournaments no less. You'd need to be on top of the specs tho.

The Apex UW has a .335 hosel, otherwise Trippels is right.

You can also shim into .355 hosels. The P790 for example is .355.

This thing is stout to me. Nothing about it feels loose whatsoever. It has minimal but a tight kick for me. Every time I tee'd off, when i hit a decent/good shot, it felt like I lost distance compared to the Autoflex, but went I walked up to my ball, it was just as far out as when I hit my Autoflex well. 

 

Dispersion was better for me than I have had recently with the Autoflex. Seems like I had less curvature with TR Red than the Autoflex. And maybe it is in my head, but I felt like there was less negative gear effect with the TR Red. I hit one way off the toe and it was still a tight draw instead of some sort of big hook.

 

Any more updates in this?

 

I'll be demo gaming the TR RED 6S this weekend and have TR RED 5S on the way so soon I can compare those two. Will be gaming in my G425 Max head and at 45,25".

You do not shim a .335 wood shaft into a .355 P790 head - you lightly sand down a .370 HB shaft and/or ream the P790 head. Wood shafts dont go into iron heads.

I tried a 7S in my TSr 2+ and hated it. It was my first venture into the red profile. Been a black player in all my woods for 2+ years and it just didn't work for me. 2 rounds with it and quickly back to the 1K Black stock shaft as it performed miles better for me but I am probably an outlier. It launched very high off the tee and I lost the extra distance of the 2+ because of the spin.  I couldn't see much benefit from the turf either. Also was a hook machine. I just don't fit the red profile and should have known that from previous tries with Atmos red and other soft tip shafts. On to the BST with this one soon and Black TR incoming for my driver.

Came to the conclusion that the Red TR feels too stout for me. But will keep it around for the time being. 

 

Im going back to the Autoflex and going to focus on dialing in the right headweight with it.

I agree the black TR 6X I has a great feel. I think it feels better than the black 6tx did and I love the trajectory. It brought my flight down slightly and I’m hitting it into the window I want. Great shaft.

While the best practise is what you say it can be done, and has been done, successfully if you know what you are doing. 

 

While it's not much recommended and i wouldn't be personally doing it with expensive shafts it can be a handy fix for certain lesser important applications. As a matter of fact you can ream hosels out as you say and still use a .335 as there are shims out there for .335 to .370, or certainly used to be. 

 

A big  factor is that the shaft likely needs to be stiffer than what you play due to the obvious headweight differences between woods and UDI's i.e. there might not be enough PTS to get stiff enough. 

 

again i wouldn't be mucking around with high end shafts.

 

There has certainly been the odd guy, over the years, that has grabbed a cheap heavy over stiff .335 and whacked it into .355/.370 hosels for experiments. I've seen it. Some have broken an inch and a half or so off a driver shaft tip, hardly uncommon, and thrown it into a ladies or kids hybrid with zero issues. 

 

But yes i'll concede i wouldn't be doing it in high end applications for serious male golf unless someone had truckloads of cash and OCD for a certain little experiment.

I got a new TSr2 15º head today and put in the Ventus Blue TR 8X I got fitted for another fairway and it was pretty good so far at the range. Hit it off the turf and tee and it launched really nicely. Very easy to hit off the turf and especially off the tee. Finally found a good fairway! Now super excited for my 5 wood!
