Golf Channel....sigh

The LPGA has some great golfers, but i will be honest and I can't keep up with all of the names of the asian ladies names and who is whom

4. Let's be honest, when golf channel was at its best and peaking with quality content, Tiger was also in his prime. Coincidence? Absolutely not.  In fact I'd argue it was The Tiger Woods Channel for a good 15 years. 

 

5. Someone mentioned a travel show. Again, they had a good one with Matt Ginella. He left and shortly after, the world turned upside down in 2020 and we know what happened with travel. 

 

6. You don't like it now, don't watch it. Pretty simple. Now, If you're longing for the days of yore and looking to moan and groan on a golf forum, might I suggest the distance debate thread. 

 

Agreed. I watch Golf Channel when I want to see the early rounds of a PGA tournament. They provide that service rather adequately.

Bit late to the thread but...SkySports Golf didn't even show the French Open live in the UK, we had to put up with wall-to-wall President's Cup all day long and then got a late night highlights show of the French.

if the R&A, DP/European tour et al really want to ‘grow the game’ then they should not be selling TV rights exclusively.

I am fine with GC coverage.  They give me extra rounds of the PGA Tour that I find useful and the 'Live from' segments at the Majors are informative.

 

It seems many think there are untapped niche areas in golf out there for the taking.  The reason they focus on PGA Tour golf is that is where the viewers are and on course productions are insanely expensive. I'm sure they would love to drop the money for a much deeper dive into the LPGA but they aren't because there couldn't make it profitable.

 

Take this random week in March.....Thur-Saturday rounds are the 3 lowest rated televised sporing events of the week.  The final round is the 5th lowest.  Who is lining up to dump money into that???

One of my biggest issues with the golf channel is hiring these British women that I can't understand. They bring absolutely nothing to the channel.  The on air talent that is left is bad.  Damon Hack and Shane Bacon are beyond terrible.

Golf channel has really gone downhill in recent years.  Their lack of european content stinks, losing Michael Breed was a hit regardless of how you feel about him individually as well as Feherity.  Why they stopped doing the Big Break series will always blow my mind, its not like that was an expensive show to make.  Not to mention I would love to watch Korn Ferry and other "lower tier' tournaments.

My biggest pet peeve of recent has been the inundation of political news commercials during live play. I get that GC is owned by NBC but give us break with the political news crap. I watch to escape the very thing your putting in my face.

Golf channel is Bravo after dark. The shows that lead up to the majors are poorly produced with no personalities on the set, Brandalina chumplee is the worst.  Golf central is hard to watch anymore.

The other thing that has become clear to me now more than ever is the tiring talk against other golfers not on the pga umbrella tours. It's tacky, and childish.

Does the PGA own golf channel? If so then I get it.
